"Where am i?"

"What is this place"

You find yourself floating in a vast and empty bright void, there is nothing as far as you can see.

You look down, or try to look down but see nothing, you're body isn't there.

You know you should be worried, scared out of your mind but you're not. It's as if something is preventing you from feeling that way, from feeling anything.

This isn't a dream, you know that it isn't, you're not sure how you know but you do.

"Hello?" you've just now realised you can't even hear you're own voice.

In the distance you notice a number of objects floating in the void, you feel as though those are your way out.

Using nothing but sheer will power you pull yourself towards one of these objects, faster and faster until finally you have it.

With the object in hand you can feel it, you can feel everything the air around you and the taste of the spit in your mouth. You have a body again! and not just a body, you now find yourself in the cockpit of some unknown fighting machine. Despite not knowing yourself or what is going on your feel that you know this machine, like it's been a part of you for so long.

Which item is it you picked?

[X] - An old fashioned SDAT type tape recorder which is continually switching between tracks 25 and 25.

[X] - A futuristic disk set, while its clearly from the future the case is quite worn. The name on the front reads 'Gekiganger 3'

[X] - A home made bunny doll toy, it looks kind of creepy but you can tell a lot of love has gone into it.

[X] - A Map of the Earth, it looks as though someone has photoshoped the planet Jupiter over where Tokyo should be.

[X] - An old story book titled 'the beast and the prince'

[X] - A Large Stratospheric strawberry slime flavoured 'Mega Slush'

[X] - A Radio set, you can hear a faint voice saying just three words, "Are You there". The words send shivers down your currently none existant spine.

[X] - None - [Dealers choice, i'll pick one at random]

-- -- -- --

The object you pick will determine which series the game starts in, from there you'll have the opportunity to venture to other series - [or perhaps, will be forced too] - Once the story progresses. Appearing in a setting with certified geniues scientists can allow for easier transit should you get on their good side, even more so in the case of one particular character who has a mostly complete theory on dimensional travel.

This quest will revolve around an Amnesiac mecha pilot who has found himself and his vehicle thrust into a popular pre existing mecha setting.

From there it is up to you what they do, how they cope or survive.

-- -- -- --

Character Creation:
Your character is just as if not more important then your mecha

Gender - Pick One
[X] - Female
[X] - Male

Traits - Pick one.
These will determine certain aspects of how the character will act and perform in certain situations, unlocking unique choices.

[X] - Charisma -
Your pilot is incredibly gifted with words, allowing them to better convince others.

[X] - Strength -
Your character has a good body, making them far better at physical combat both in and out of their mecha.

[X] - Stealth -
Your character is an expert at avoiding detection both in and out of their mecha.

[X] - Intelligence -
Allows your character to perform research actions

-- -- -- --

Mecha Creation:
To start with you'll begin with a custom / homebrewed mecha which will be balanced based on your traits, this however does not stop you from acquiring new mecha down the line should you so desire and is simply done in the names of keeping things 'fair' to begin with.

In order to determine the kind of vehicle our protagonist will have we must first build it. By default the mecha is capable of flight as well as land, underwater and space operations,

You have 20 trait points to spend on designing your mecha

Frame - Pick One
[X] - Balanced Frame -
A Good mix of Speed, Strength and Durability.

[X] - Strength Frame -
Powerful limbs provide your mecha with increadible physical strength, allowing it an edge in close combat while also allowing it to lift heavier objects including larger guns.

[X] Agile Frame -
Very fast, but with low physical strength or defence.

[X] Defence Frame -
Incredibly tough, able to take hits that would slaughter most other vehicles. Unfortunately due to the heavy armour your vehicle will be far less durable.

Size - Pick One
[X] - Very Small - [5 meters] - Gives you an additional 20 Points to spend on mecha creation

[X] - Small - [20 Meters] - Gives you an additional 10 Points to spend on mecha creation

[X] - Medium - [40 Meters] - The default, cost is free

[X] - Large - [60 Meters] - Costs 10 Points from your mecha creation perks

[X] -Extra Large - [80 Meters] - Costs 20 points from your mecha creation perks

-- -- -- --

Positive Perks -
Use perk points to purchase traits for the mecha

[X] - Advanced AI - 20 Points - [Can be taken multiple times]
Provides the mech with an advanced AI companion, capable of performing a wide array of tasks including research. Should an engineering kit be taken, this also increases the number of units you can build at any one time up to 10,000 from 1,000.

[X] - Melee Kit - 1 Point - [Can be taken multiple times]
A mobile locker filled with a wide assortment of melee weapons, from swords to spears and axes and more.

[X] - Basic Weapons kit - 5 Points - [Can be taken multiple times]
A Mobile locker filled to the brim with conventional weapons

[X] - Advanced Weapons Kit - 10 Points - [Can be taken multiple times]
A Mobile locker filled to the brim with Railguns and Energy Weapons

[X] - Particle Weapon - 40 Points - [Can be taken multiple times]
A powerful Particle beam weapon, capable of annihilating armies in a single shot. Unlimited ammo however it must charge up before firing

[X] - Engineering Kit - 60 Points - [Can be taken multiple times]
Provides your mecha with a number of Nano assembler guns, capable of building structures in minutes. Also comes with the blueprints for various drone units and structures.

[X] - Armoured Up - Costs: 5 Points
Doubles the amount of armour covering your mecha, increasing its durability significantly. Unfortunately increases weight quite significantly as well, reducing over all Speed / Agility.

[X] - Next Gen Armour - Costs: 10 Points
Replaces your mechas armour with next generation alloys, doubling over all durability while halving total weight. Increasing your Speed / Agility AND Durability at the same time.

[X] - Basic Energy Shielding - Costs: 10 Points
Protects against all forms of attacks, not incredibly powerful but it's better than nothing.

[X] - Advanced Energy Shielding - Costs: 20 Points
Protects against all forms of attacks, incredibly powerful able to withstand attacks from small armies.

[X] - Deflector Shielding - Costs: 20 Points
Protects exclusively against kinetic projectiles or weapons, renders your mecha all but immune to projectile weapons.

[X] - Reflector Shielding - Costs: 20 Points
Protects Exclusively against energy weapons, renders your mecha all but immune to energy weapons.

[X] - Gravitational Wave Shielding - Costs: 60 Points
Protects completely against all projectile and energy weapons, only exotic attacks stand a chance at causing damage

[X] - Stealth Paint - Costs: 5 Points
Renders your mecha invisible to radar and other more conventional sensors

[X] - Stealth Field - Costs: 20 Points
Renders your mecha invisible to all but the most advanced of sensors

[X] - Next Gen Flight Systems - 10 Points
Top of the line equipment greatly increases speed and agility

[X] - Excess Engines - 10 Points
Doubles the numbers of engines on the mecha greatly increasing over all speed and agility

[X] - Super Servos - Costs: 10 Points
Doubles the over all physical strength of your mecha

Negative Perks -
Taking these will weaken your vehicle in some way but will in turn provide you with increased creation points.

[X] - Basic Computers - Gives you: 10 Points
the mecha is equipped with computers just barely capable of running it, forcing your character to do far more manual work. Prevents the mech from being placed on autopilot mode. Should an engineering kit be taken, this also decreases the number of units you can build at any one time down to 100 from 1,000.

[X] - Stripped Down - Gives you: 10 Points
Halves the amount of armour covering your mecha, reducing durability significantly. Fortunatily this reduced weight increases your speed / Agility.

[X] - Brittle Armour - Gives you 10 Points
Halves your armours durability

[X] - Makeshift Armour - Gives you: 10 Points
Reduces armours durability while increasing weight

[X] - Outdated Engines - Gives you: 10 Points
Your mechas thrusters and flight systems are old, real old. Halving speed and agility

[X] - Over Stressed Servos - Gives you: 10 Points
Pushed to past their limit, these old model servos can't perform like they used to. Reduces physical strength

[X] - Low Resolution Sensors - Gives you: 10 Points
Reduces sensor fidelity decreasing over all sensor range and power

[X] - Running Blind - Gives you: 20 Points
Your mech has no functioning sensors or cameras, relying soley on visual identification such as periscopes and windows to see.

[X] - Unstable Reactor - Gives you: 20 Points
Critical oversites in the reactors construction have left it performing past saftey regulation for too long, increasing the chances of catastrophic explosion when damaged.

[X] - High Emission Reactor - Gives you 10 Points
Makes your mecha far easier to detect, cannot be taken with any stealth perk.

Looks good to me

It is, they're both very powerful options so had to keep their prices high

The AI especially in that particular setting

Aquarion, Eureka, Gurren lagann and others potentially come later but arent candidates for starter settings
Bounced off that show, honestly.

Aight, time to make a vote.

I liked it, went off the rails a bit but i've seen worse

That's a good combat set up, small frame might look a bit silly carrying medium weapons in flight but it should manage fine

oh no its ok, though a negative that made us explode like a strategic nuclear weapon if we get destroyed would be amusing

Update - 1

With the object in hand you can feel it, you can feel everything the air around you and the taste of the spit in your mouth. You have a body again! and not just a body, you now find yourself in the cockpit of some unknown fighting machine. Despite not knowing yourself or what is going on your feel that you know this machine, like it's been a part of you for so long.

You pat yourself down, you can feel yourself again. Your body is real, this environment around you it's all actually tangible. It feels like you're wearing nothing at all, but you are. Some kind of form fitting suit on top of which thick but lightweight flexible armour covers your most vital areas, you don't even realise you're wearing a sealed helmet. The relief of being freed from that formless void brings tears to your eyes, but you are not alone.

"You're awake" a concerned voice fills your head, not coming from around you but from within as if someone was speaking from inside of your own head.

"Who are you, what is this?" You reply and the stranger responds, a small compartment at the front of the Mechs control station opens up revealing a rounded object small enough to fit in the palm of your hand. It gives off a sickly blue-white glow, for some reason looking at it fills you with degrees of sadness and guilt. "You're a machine?"

"I must be..."

Things are getting weirder by the second, you can tell the computer sounds unsure of itself. It's voice is soft and gentle, it reminds you of something of a word but it's just beyond reach. You try your best to focus on that word as you did before, to remember but are distracted by your companion and the thought slips your mind. "Looks like we've got ourselves an admirer."

"Show me"

Before you can finish your sentence the inner walls of the cockpit around her fade away revealing the world beyond, directly in front of your mech a young man is literally jumping for joy. "A real mech! It's a bit on the small side but who cares!" Behind him lies a broken down humanoid mech propped up against a house, one of the few buildings still standing around here. Despite having half of its body torn away you can tell that other machine would stand about 3 or 4 times larger then your own.

For miles around you can see nought but wasteland, a city layed low by some powerful weapon yet standing before you is a man who clearly does not belong, much like yourself. Warning bells indicate a dangerously high level of gravitational pollution in the area, you're not sure exactly what the long term effects would be but you can tell they're not good. Swiping away the alarms you can finally focus your attention on the main sensors and other informational displays. You don't understand how but it is as if you know the workings of this machine inside and out, you can't remember a single thing about your life yet anything to do with this Mech comes to you as easy as breathing.

As your machine warms up and it's vision range expands more alarms begin to ring in the cockpit, infront of you a warning displays in bright yellow.

- [Unknown Vehicles Approaching] -

"Eight Piloted Humanoid Fighting Machines approaching at high speed." They're toting a 36 mm Rapid fire rifle equipped with an under-barrel 120m canon. While the 36mm wouldn't be able to do much to your own armour, the 120mm is absolutely a threat. While they're fast, your mech is close to five times faster. You'd be able to leave them in the dust without any real issue. Unfortunately the same could not be said of your Self propelled mobile locker, it would be easy prey for these mecha and would need to be abandoned in order for you to flee.

The Base these machines are deploying from is massive, holding 250 similar Mecha with a total base staff of over 10,000. It seems as though you've wound up near a massive military instillation. Deep beneath the base sensors have detected an unusual quantum energy signature which does not match the locals technological level.

For a moment you think on your options on how to avoid meeting a fate similar to the machine in front of you, before you can think of anything your companion 'speaks' up.

"I have access to their systems"

"Good work" This computer must be incredibly powerful if it hack into a military system so easily and while you have full knowledge of this machine there is nothing in your mind containing such a computer.

"I am currently wirelessly connected to the local computer networks, including those of the Inbound Mechs. It would be trivial to remotely shut them down or even take direct control at this point, however i am unsure for how long i would be able to maintain such control." Hijacking or disabling the oncoming vehicles would save you precious time but could bring down the wrath of the locals.

Direct combat isn't an option right now, you realise that. Your only options are to use subversion or to run. Or perhaps those aren't your only options. These vehicles are piloted, it is therefore possible that their pilots can be reasoned with or bargained with. It's a long shot, but it could be your best bet at getting answers here.

On top of it all that strange young man has started wandering off in the general direction of the base, he's clearly oblivious to what's coming and completely unprepared. While you're not sure you can trust him, can you really just leave him here? Then again it's not really your problem, maybe he's just a weirdo who likes to wander bombed out cities.

You have 40 seconds until the Unknown machines are upon you, use that time wisely.

[X] - Try and Talk
They're probably just as confused as you are, maybe you could talk things out?
Pros - Might clear the situation up
Cons - Puts you at the locals mercy

[X] - Run
The local mecha are nowhere near as fast as your own, you could equip a set of engineering tools and then escape if you felt the need. Unfortunately the mobile locker is not so quick and would be incapable of outrunning the local mecha.
Pros - Avoids Conflict
Cons - Loses spare engineering equipment and Mobile Locker
50/50's - locals will a acquire engineering equipment

[X] - Attempt to hack the oncoming Mecha
It's possible that your Advanced AI may be capable of hacking into the local mecha to shut them down or otherwise render them harmless.
Pros - Prevents you from being attacked
Cons - Will be perceived as an attack by the locals

[X] - Write in
What do you think you should do?

Units and Structures
The units and structures you'll be able to build from the beginning. There are obvious gaps in the unit list however, which you are incapable of seeing through. It is possible this means more will be unlocked over time.

Of note the naval and space unit list are currently locked

Ofcourse your conventional units could operate on the sea or in space, but it wouldnt be as effective as dedicated naval or space craft.

You don't have to worry about most of the stats involved here, they're more for me.

Structures -
- All Structures are controlled autonomously by your Mecha's AI
- Structures by default count towards your unit cap, unless disconnected from your AI unit at which point they will only be capable of fulfilling the most basic of orders.
- All structures can be built on the ground
- All Structures can operate on or under water
- All Structures can operate in outer space in a hard vacuum
- Build Rate refers to how fast a structure can build, referring to how much mass / energy it can build per second. A Build rate of 10 would allow you to build 10 Units that each cost 1 mass in 1 second.

Production Facilities -
Standard factories use 'FabricationPads' or 'Fab Pads / Fads' to produce units or other goods. You can view these are 1meter by 1meter size replicators, capable of working together in order to build larger more complex units. While a 1x1 pad might only be able to build a human sized infantry bot, 4x4 pads could build a car or other similarly sized vehicle while 8x8 pads could build an even larger fighting machine.

As standard factories are 'generalist', this means they can build land, sea or air units equally. However it is possible to 'specialise' a factory into becoming a 'Land Factor, Sea Factory or Air Factory'. Doing so would massively increase the build rate of said specific unit type at the cost of preventing the factory from building other unit types.

Specialising a factory or Pad will Quadrouple it's build Rate

Factories and Pads may also be upgraded. At Standard there are 3 upgrade tiers, which are all round improvements to the structures production abilities.

Basic - x1 Build Rate - [Default structure cost]
Standard - x2 Build Rate - [Costs 2x Structures default construction cost]
Improved- x4 Build Rate - [Costs 4x Structures default construction cost]

As a general rule, 4 Pads or Factories factories built into a square pattern will automatically connect said structures into the next size up, increasing overall build speed and efficiency while allowing them to build larger units.

Micro Pad -

Defences: N/A
Equipment: 1 Fabrication Pad
Not really a proper factory, it is literally just a single Fab Pad, capable of building the smallest of units. However when built adjacent to other pads it is capable of rapidly producing far larger units.

--- ---

Factory -
Length: 100 Meters
Width: 100 Meters
Height: 240 Meters
Mass Cost: 200
Energy Cost: 400
Build Rate: 600 Per Second Basic - [1,200 Standard] - [2,400 Improved]
Weapons: N/A
Defences: Light Building Armour
Equipment: Industrial Fabrication Facilities
A true factory, with a large internal forge that is equivalent to having the ceilings and walls all built out of larger industrial tier Pads. with a build radius of 50m x 50m x 100m This factory is capable of building most kinds of mass production units.

Defensive Structures -
These are designed specifically to defend your bases, quite useful and often more powerful than units of an equivalent size.

You may pay double to provide defences with Improved weapons, upgrading their conventional weapons to Railguns or Energy Weapons. This greatly increases firepower and doubles over all range. You may Pay quadrouple to provide defences with Advanced weapons, which are far more powerful guns with 4x the overall range.

Shields may be declared as either Deflector or Reflector to increase their durability against specific attack types, however they will then be unable to defend against the alternative attack type.

Units -
- T1 Sized units and above are capable of being piloted by humans
- All units can be remotely controlled by human pilots
- All units are by default remotely controlled by your mecha's AI, providing them with good combat abilities.
- Like buildings, should a unit become disconnected to your Mecha's AI then it will only be able to function at the most basic level, being capable of simple move orders or attack orders. This however will decrease their combat ability significantly.
- Like Structures all units are able to operate on land, under the ocean and in space.

Research Tree -
You've not came up with anything to research just yet

I don't know enough about Muv-Luv to make an informed decision about who these people could be but with our leaky reactor we cant hide and the engineering suite is a really big part of our starting character soooo i guess we have to talk to them?

will wait to vote until someone can give me a bit more to work with.

You can take an engineering set, it's just if you run you'd need to self destruct or leave the rest behind

as for who the people are, they're the United Nations

This area is Yokohoma base, it's a very important military facility.

They're the good guys or as good as you get in the setting, about equal to encountering say Nerv from Eva.

What happens in the conversation would depend on a few things, rolls mainly. But it could go well or it could go poorly

[X] - Try and Talk
- [X] - If they won't be detected have the AI hack into the mechs to learn what they can about them.

[X] - Try and Talk

The oncoming mecha stop around 20 seconds away from your position, at first you think they might be opening a dialogue but your AI companion is quick to explain just what's going on. "The high emissions from our Fusion reactor have rendered them blind for the moment"

"Can you patch in their communications?" it takes but a fraction of a second for the AI to complete your command, you listen in to the locals as you gauge how to proceed.

"That's right" You've caught them mid conversation "Self diagnostics are saying everything's operational, our sensors are just overloaded."

"Hmm" A second voice fills the airwaves "This interference is not intentional, at least i don't think it is." Her signals coming from the main base, she must be the commander or some similarly high ranking official. No, she's definitely not military not with the way she talks you can tell that much. "It could be residual radiation left over from their arrival, or perhaps whoever designed it didn't care much for safety regulations. It almost reminds me of ..." the woman stops herself "Continue with the mission"

"Understood" The local mechs have begun moving again albeit at a walking pace, they're no longer flying towards you at high speed.

Not wanting to waste any more time you open up a hailing channel "Calling the Unknown Mechs approaching this position" The incoming squad halts in their tracks yet again "We would like to open a dialogue"

Despite being directed at the Approaching vehicles it is not a pilot who greets you "Just who might We be?"

"I'm not sure"

"And i guess you're not sure where you are either?" the woman's smug tone is impossible to miss

You're unsure just how much you should tell her, but lying might only make things worse. "You'd guess right."

"Then i guess i should fill you in." ... "You're on the planet Earth in the nation of japan"

"Earth!" You practically shout "I'm from Earth" The mention of the world bringing back some memories. Earth, you remember now you're from Earth and Japan is a place that existed there. though you can't place any real concrete details.

"Ah good, then i suppose i won't need to tell you about the BETA"

"BETA?" you rack your mind but cant find anything, that word is meaningless to you.

"Beings of extra terrestrial origin who are adversary to humankind. Alien invaders whom we fight a never ending war for survival, if you're really from Earth surely you should know this?" Man that names a mouthful, you try again to remember but you're certain there were no such things as aliens in the Earth you came from.

"Aliens... Aren't real. At least, if they are real the human race has not encountered them." You're feeling more confident in your memory of Earth, There were no aliens or at least none where you lived. Where did you live? Was it japan? you're not sure...

"If you like you could take a trip over to Sadogashima or Mainland Eurasia and tell them that." The condescension in the woman's voice is palatable, it's as if she's a teacher talking down to a child.

"She's not lying to you" your AI companion calls directly into your mind "I performed a deep scan of their databases, we now know everything they do. This world truly is on the brink. 6 Billion dead in just 30 years of war, 70% of all species are currently extinct. These BETA are truly a powerful adversary. Fortunately it would see the technological database we posses would allow us to effectively combat them should we get a large enough base up and running."

The revelation is shocking, you rack your brain thinking on how you could end up in such a place. Two solutions come to mind Trans-Dimensional Travel, somehow you were teleported through universes, pulled from your home to this place... or it's all just a dream. If it was a dream you could relax knowing you'll wake up any second now, but everything is telling you that no this is real and you can't just leave so easily.

"I believe you" Though that doesn't mean you trust her.

"Oh? You sounded so confident before. Well good, better to not have to argue with someone who rejects reality" It almost sounds as if she's used to that kind of thing

"Where do we go from here?"

"You've peaked my interest, so how about i let you work here for now? Say you help me and i work on helping you get home?"

yet again your AI companion confirms to you that this woman is at least partially telling the truth, given her position and theories she very well could assist you.

"If you harm me in anyway, this machine would explode with incredible force wiping out anything nearby." The Fusion Reactor doesn't have a self destruct option, but the quantum computer housing your AI does. Should the worse come to pass it could be destabilised to essentially become a makeshift Gravity bomb that could annihilate anything in a 20km radius.

"Duly noted"

With the conversation over now all that remains is to decide what to do next, do you trust this strange woman or forge your own path?

---

[X] - Join Her for now
This woman has been completely honest with you, though your unsure of her intentions it seems as though you could do a lot of good here.

[X] - Run Away
You've run the numbers in your head, if you make a dash for the water with your supply locker then submerge their vehicles wouldn't be able to follow, though they could still track your High Emmision reactor.

[X] - Fight
With the enemies sensors being down it could be possible to engage them in close quarters battle to win
- [X] - Fight To Kill
- [X] - Fight to Disable

[X] - Write in

[X] - Join Her for now

until we can patch the high emission reactor there's no running or hiding and all the downsides we grabbed preclude fighting.

btw what DO we have on the mech aside from the AI and the Engineering stuff?
