An Alleyway Close to the Midoriya Home
The book was helpful, but not as helpful as she would have liked.
She was younger when she made it, and wasn't able to get the kind of details that she can get now from some of her Skills. [Appraisal] did wonders for the ability to accurately learn what someone was capable of.
In fact [Appraisal] was showing it's use at the moment. Izumi -she's going to have to get use to that again- was currently using it on people that were wandering by the alley that she was currently sitting in. With it she was pulling up the state average of dozens of civilians, which when collected together would allow for her to determine a good level to bind herself at.
Once she has an average she could introduce her "Quirk" to her mother from this life. She's been dusting off old memories and from what she has managed to recall, her mother was a very caring women who worried quite a bit. Izumi figures that the least she could do was not overly worry her mother by informing her that she had died and been reborn in another world, only to somehow get dragged back to this world. She doesn't think that would go over well with this mother.
Her other mother wouldn't have cared in the least, being a barely sapient monster.
[Clairvoyance] was useful for many things, but the thing that she was most happy about was how she could use it in place of a mirror. It did a lot to make her more comfortable to know that since she's returned to this world some of her physical traits have been returning to her. Like the fact that her eyes have changed over, something that she would have been rather annoyed to loose. Her eyes are a dark red with white pupils, in the center of the iris is a white circle that has four dots circling it in a way to make it look like a tilted cross-hair. It wasn't obvious to most people, but each of the white dots were in fact different eyes. Her teeth had been slowly returning to the sharpened fangs of her other life.
The reason for these changes were obvious to her, she only had to look at her Stats to see that she's thankfully still not human. She has nothing against humans as a species, but she's spent longer as a spider monster then she has as a human, and she really doesn't want to have that striped from her.
She still looks the same in the face, which honestly isn't all that surprising considering she kept her face between her two different lives. At least she did when she managed to stop being a standard spider monster and moved up into the more humanoid spiders.
Her current bodies hair is still a curly green mess though, she'll figure out what to do with it later, for now she should get back to making preparations for her bindings. The last thing she wants to do here is overpower things to much.
That would be rather boring.
She watched as light purple magical circles appeared underneath her, before shrinking down and binding themselves around her wrists. She felt as a large number of her Skills where locked away from her access, which just felt odd. She could still feel that they existed, but is she tried to activate them to automate a process for her they wouldn't trigger at all.
The particular bindings that she used were much more modular then most, which allows her to shift how much is bound without have to recast the spell, which will be very useful after she binds her Magic Skills.
With the Skills bound, the next thing to bind will be her Stats. Most humans she's seen have around fifty in their core stats, so that felt to be a reasonable place to put them. She watched as more pairs of rings joined the ones that she had created for most of her Skills.
It took only a few more moments to place the rest of her bindings, and then with a thought she shifted them to being hidden from the rest of the world. With them set, they should only be visible to people when she is altering her bindings, something she doesn't think she will do much in front of people.
After a glance at her Stats Menu, she was satisfied to see that the bindings worked in a way to prevent them from being seen on the screen. While she didn't plan to keep them bound forever, especially like this, she had learned early on in her other life that other people were able to see menus when she brought them up. Just showing her mother her menu would be the simplest way to prove that she has a Quirk to her and a doctor, as she remembers that Quirks need to be registered.
That is all assuming that they were visible in this world like they were in the other one.
With the last action of blocking out her titles with Ruler Privileges, she had her Stats Menu set up exactly how she wanted it. Now all that was left was to show her mother what she has gained.
Inko would admit that she had been starting to get worried. It wasn't an unfamiliar feeling, but things have been difficult for the past few years. There are a number of things that she could point to, but at the moment it's a rather simple thing.
Izumi wasn't home yet.
Most parents probably wouldn't be that worried about something like that right now. Her daughter could be hanging out with friends, or at the arcade, or out shopping.
But with Izumi it normally meant she was out chasing hero fights.
She trusts her daughter to not do anything stupid, but her daughter has more heart then sense in most cases. She's worried that one day that girl will run head first into a fight without thinking about and do something like throw a bag at a villain. The absolute worst case scenario would be Izumi being the victim of the attack.
Inko's not sure what she would do if Izumi died at the hands of a villain.
She let out her breath when she heard the front door opening.
"Mom! I'm home! You'll never guess what happened today!"
Inko smiled at her daughters voice, happy that she's home. Either she got distracted by something or whatever fight she was chasing was a short one. One way or the other, her daughter sounds far to cheerful for her to be... injured.
She wishes that Aldera was a better school, but there isn't much she can actually do about it at this point. She knows that her daughter hasn't been having a good time in the place, it doesn't treat people who are quirkless all that well. She has her own suspicions about what exacly is going on, but until her daughter either tells her about it or she can get her hands on proof nothing can be done.
Closing her work laptop, Inko stood up to greet Izumi, who she could here walking through the halls at a hurried pace.
The words died in Inko's throat when she saw her daughter turn the corner, her own eyes going wide in surprise at the sight. In front of her was Izumi, but instead of her emerald green eyes and bright smile, an unfamiliar pair of striking red eyes and sharp teethed smile so unfamiliar on her child's face that was a touch paler then normal.
"My Quirk finally manifested!"
Her Quirk?
Oh, oh that would explain it.
Everything went blurry, tears starting to blind her. With a few steps she was holding her daughter, trying tears of joy that Izumi finally, finally, had a quirk to call her own.
"I'm so glad!" Inko cried out as she latched onto her daughter.
Inko held onto her daughter for several minutes, letting out the worry that she had been building throughout the day.
"My Quirk is more then just my looks mom." Inko watched as she saw her daughter reach out a hand, making sure it was inside of Inko vision. "Look!"
As she said that, the areas in front of her daughters hand lights up, and Inko has to blink away the tears in her eyes to get a solid view of what she's looking at. She then blinks a few more times as she lets go of her daughter to see the text that is just... floating there.

"It looks like a video game character."
That... was an odd Quirk for Izumi to develop.
Very odd in fact. Most quirks are some kind of mixture between the parents quirks, with it on rare occasions being the Quirk of a single parent. This isn't either telekinesis, fire breathing, or some mixture of the two in some way.
Which means this is a complete mutation, which is possible, but insanely rare.
"It does! Something like this has so many possibilities!"
At least she's happy with it...
"What does Arachne mean? And is Thought Acceleration what it sounds like?" Inko asked.
"Well Arachne seems to be my... species I guess? I was testing out [Appraisal]" -that sounded very very weird when she said it. It was very hard to describe. - "earlier and I noticed that other people are listed as being Human. It's probably why my looks changed." Izumi stopped and tapped the side of her head, "[Thought Acceleration] is exactly what it wounds like. I can think and perceive things faster then before, kind of like how in the movies everything will slow down in a fight or stressful moment."
Inko took a few moments to take that all in, and waved her daughter into the living room while she thought. The fact that Izumi was thinking faster would probably explain why she's not as visibly panicking as much as she would expect from suddenly changing like this. Having more time to think about it, as well as just being happy to have a Quirk, even a mutation one, would be enough to help her Izumi move past the changes rather fast.
"Why did you change species? If that's what happened."
Izumi shrugged as they sat down.
"No idea, you would think that staying normal human would make the most since, but for some reason I'm an Arachne. I did some poking around at my sheet, and it seems that it means I'm some kind of spider? It would explain that Skills I started with, [Spider Thread], [Poison Attack], and [Night Vision]. From what I've been able to look I think [Internal System] is my actual Quirk, as it describes itself as being the backbone of what all my skills run off of."
It still sounded really weird when she said the skill names, but it she thinks she's getting a little use to it.
"Anyways! [Spider Thread] looks like it could be super useful, and when looking through some of my menus I saw another skill called [Thread Control]! If I get that I could see all kinds of ways I could use it for working as a hero, like..." Izumi continued to talk about all the idea that came to her head, and Inko just smiled as she watched her daughters excitement.
Even if some of this is a little weird, she's happy to see her daughter chatter away like she is. This has been rather sudden and unexpected - really her daughter was years past the expected rate for even late bloomers - but she's sure things will be okay.
In fact with her daughter finally having a Quirk, maybe the girl will not be picked on as much at school. As far as she can see things are for the first time in quite some time, looking up.
Several Months Later
March 18th
UA High
UA High.
The school is recognized to have the best hero training course in the entire world, so naturally everyone wants to go here. There may be other programs out there, but they don't hold a candle to UA's, which is why it's almost impossible to get in.
The school's alumni list is filled to the brim with idols that have inspired swaths of people. As widely recognized as All Might, Endeavor, and Best Jeanist, to more underground people such as Eraser Head.
The past several months have been boring, the only things of note were a few changes to her body as it shifted closer to her Arachne body. Her skin was a few shades paler then before, and along her fingers in place of nails were sets of bone white claws. Those were the only changes that could be noticed at a glance, and while they had been momentary interesting, nothing will match up to how this will be.
It's time for the entrance exam.
