For those on the 20th floor the shootout is intense as the ex-military members of E88 and Medhall Security continue to fight off both the US and Commonwealth Forces and the issue is that they are in a hallway without a clear line of sight out of the open skies, thus preventing air support from interfering without injuring allies.
"Someone got a corner shot?!" A NY Guardsman shouted down the line, in which someone actually replied back.
"I got it! Someone made a call for it!" A Singaporean Para shouted back, his weapon is a CornerShot with a 40mm Grenade Launcher.
"Then lob a grenade in there!" The NY Guardsmen replied, moving back and allowing the Singaporean Para to fire his grenade launcher.
The High Explosive Thermobaric 40mm Grenade detonated in a literal fireball, as the fireball shattered the glass of the board room they are using as a rest area killing many and wounding the rest either by the explosive shrapnel or the flying glass from the detonation, for the E88 and Medhall Security Force taste what was made by Commonwealth R&D and now NATO Standard Issue.
"Corridor cleared!" The Singapore Para shouted back, and with that everyone continued their advance deeper and higher into Medhall.
For the joint task force climbing up, they will stop just shy of the Penthouse Office suite thus preventing Kaiser from using his power on them, but they will be able to pull of a surprise attack on Kaiser or Krieg if they try to escape down the hall, in which the amount of firepower they have will surprise Kaiser the most.
"Come on! Get a move on!" The NY Guardsmen shouted as everyone who could continue advancing and those who were wounded are being pulled back to safety.
The Parachute Cadets has set themselves up in the lower floors guarding prisoners and operating the triage area to tend to the wounded as more Commonwealth and Federal Forces flow in, this time more Parachute Regiment Troopers, which the heavy duty Light infantry shock troops marched by the captured and wounded E88 members as they march to the top to support the remaining National Guardsmen and Paras fighting above.
Rune and Othala found themselves handcuffed and placed in an conference room separated from the rest of the E88 and medhall security, with obvious security in the from of Cadets wandering with fingers on the triggers of their weapons, looking ready to gun down any trouble makers or the ones that would try to attack them.
The world of Winds!Earth is much more dangerous and deadly for Parahumans, as they are already a world dealing with Espers, powered humans and the supernatural, and thus their ability to fight Parahumans is considered overkill at worse, over the top at best, and thus Rune and Othala couldn't even do anything to the Cadets due to the fact that they are full body armor and uniform, not a hint of skin being shown.
"Wounded coming through!" Came the shout of the Guardsmen as they brought back both their wounded and the E88 wounded.
"Looks like Menja and Fenja are in custody, Stormtiger is dead, medics declared dead on scene." Rune and Othala overheard a couple of Cadets walking by talking, either they forgot to keep to personal radios or it was intentional.
But that nearly broke them, Menja and Fenja surrendering they can believe but Stormtiger dead? It was beyond belief, but then again Hookwolf did die during the bombings, a lot of their capes died during the bombings, in fact most of the capes they knew died in the bombings, an entire gang gone due to the bombing and one cape and gang keeping quiet.
For everyone who overheard them that was the straw that broke the camel's back, the fact that Stormtiger died because of the forces arrayed to face them, nearly everyone had no hope of escape or survival if they even managed to escape, but for the Cadets, it's just waiting for news on Kaiser and Krieg, and maybe prepared the morgue van.
"Alright you two, in here and over with the other prisoners," a British voice sounded out, causing the two women to look up. What they saw shocked them, both Fenja and Menja being escorted in by a trio of dragons, all armed with large rifles and wearing heavy looking armour.
As the twins got close, they could see the damage done to their armour and bodies, Fenja sporting a pair of blackened eyes and a nose splint and both with blackening bruises over their exposed skin. Both looked exhausted, and Menja, worse, looked completely defeated.
The twins joined Rune and Othala, sitting a little away from the rank and file Empire 88 members, leaning against one another tiredly.
"Just the top floors left now," one of the dragons commented, glancing at the ceiling. "Wonder if they'll be smart or stupid, because if it's the latter…"
"Either way, this lot's about done," the other green dragon commented. "Just the oriental gang left with real numbers, then seeing what's in the rubble."
The gold nodded grimly. "Gonna be a while before this place is habitable again, presuming the conventional nuke burns itself out in the next week. Guess people are going to be cursing whoever sent that attempted attack from the Nazis for a long time, dead or not." He snorted softly. "Wonder which death god got that lot, because I'd lay odds on them not enjoying the afterlife they wound up in."
"Yo! Kaiser ain't surrendering!" A cadet suddenly shouted, breaking their conversation. "They need some persuasion cause he just skewered a couple of National guardsmen!" The Cadet added.
"Rifle-Actual is requesting to use the gunships on the top of the building!" Another Cadet shouted, running past.
"I don't think Rifle-Actual will allow that!" Another shouted, chasing after the one that went past them.
Up on the roof above the penthouse, half a dozen dragons led by V'rentryth were quietly spraying gelignite into places where they could drop the majority of the roof on any fool in the penthouse without hurting those below.
"Rifle-Actual, this is Dragon 1-5, ready to bring down the house," she radioed as her companions signalled everything in place. Gesturing to them, she leapt into the air, wings beating hard to handle the extra weight of her armour and gear. A moment later the detonator signalled the gel ready to be blown.
<<Rifle-Actual, Dragon 1-5 you are clear to go.>> Rifle-Actual replied.
With a nod, V'rentryth pressed the detonator, watching in satisfaction as the gel went off in a series of explosions across the roof.
Signalling the others, she switched the detonator for her rifle and dropped. More than ten tons of armoured dragon hit the roof simultaneously, crashing straight through into the penthouse below in a rain of concrete debris.
Before either of the two occupants could recover from things dropping in on them, they were both surrounded with five 15mm War Dragon assault rifles pointed at each of them. "ON YOUR KNEES, HANDS BEHIND YOUR HEAD!" V'rentryth ordered. "GET ON YOUR KNEES AND GET YOUR HANDS BEHIND YOUR HEADS RIGHT THE FUCK NOW OR YOU WILL BE KILLED WHERE YOU STAND!"
The one in full metal armor creates a rippling energy effect as it creates metal, and a metallic grinding sound in which some iron spikes are seen to be growing, and by his body language much too slow for what he is used too.
V'rentryth didn't hesitate. As soon as she spotted the spikes starting to form, she ventilated the armoured fool. 15mm HVSAP rounds tearing through his armour like paper, which, when they can punch through armoured vehicles, it might as well be.
Blood, flesh and bits of metal explode off the man as the three round burst shreds his organs. Bone added to the mix as the other dragons around him hit him with bursts of their own, all aimed centre of mass, bullets travelling on and tearing chunks from what furnishings and walls are still in one piece towards the outside.
The quintet surrounding Kreig are hardly any slower. Instead of giving another chance to surrender, they fire within seconds of their companions opening up on Kaiser. Even with his instinctive use of his powers, he only managed to lower the speed of the .60 calibre rounds to around half their hypersonic launch speed. More than enough to tear him apart, spraying the floor with blood, flesh, bone and organ.
<<Dragon 1-5, Rifle-Actual! What happened!>> Rifle-Actual immediately asked upon hearing the gunfire through the radio network.
"Rifle-Actual, Dragon 1-5, the armoured idiot tried to spike us, we put both down hard," V'rentryth replied grimly. "They were ordered to drop and surrender and were warned. No allied casualties."
<<Dragon 1-5, Copy that, secure the bodies, Medhall is secured. Rifle-Actual out.>> Rifle-Actual replied.
V'rentryth nodded, gesturing at the others to start securing and checking the corpses. "Roger, out," she responded, moving to check the room for anything still potentially useful, Kalina dropping in at her back like always.
For those already forming up on the Azn Bad Boy territory, they were surprised when the white flag was already flying, and then a group of three, the man in the middle was a shirtless six feet tall man with a ornate steel mask that resembled a dragon, next to him is a man in a full black bodysuit with belt and bandoleer of knives and grenades on it, and a demonic mask with leering, fanged, ear-to-ear grin, the final man is just a random man holding the white flag.
Captain Bannon of the 6th Battalion, Bravo Company, New York National Guard, was the one who went up to see what was going on, and what he got surprised him very much, for they were ready to fight a dragon, and very much had signed their wills in case they were crushed and cooked alive by the dragon or bombed by the ninja kamikaze.
"I am Lung, and I wish to surrender." The shirtless man announced.
"Ok… I'll be forced to push this up the chain…" Captain Bannon trailed off as he looked at each and everyone of them. "But I will accept your surrender."
Standing idly on top of one of the rubble piles that had been a building far enough away to not be in immediate trouble, Shirone watched the trio approach the New York National Guard, frowning slightly under her helmet.
From the information they had, the ABB had two known parahumans, the leader, Lung, and the killer, Oni Lee. It looked like both had come to meet the military and, from what she heard, offered a surrender.
Honestly, if it was an actual surrender not a trick, then it would save a lot of lives on both sides and possibly more. Even so, she wasn't willing to drop her guard in a war zone, just on general principle, since that got a lot of people dead.
Time to see how people wanted to play this.
As many troops and equipment were moved into the area, a Colonel came to officially accept ABB's and by extension Lung's surrender, in which after then a horde of ABB Gang members all armed but their weapons raised above their heads started walking to the US-Commonwealth Forces, upon reaching the lines they let the Military Policemen and National Guardsmen to take away their weapons and be processed.
As that was happening Lung offered his wrists to the Colonel, who let the Military Policemen next to him to cuff Lung, at that the last major gang surrender, leaving the Archer's Bridge Merchants and maybe the Undersiders to be searched for and brought into the fold, as the ABB is being disarmed and booked for processing.
Making her way off the rubble pile, Shirone headed back to the Commonwealth portion of the force assigned to deal with the ABB, taking her helmet off as she reached one of the APCs with some rations available.
Grabbing some, she hopped up to one of the seats near a door, setting her helmet next to her, her rifle across her lap ready for use if it was necessary. Peeling the ration bar of its wrapper, she watched as the criminals were processed, her cat-like ears and hair being teased by the breeze.
Then came rushing in is a Singapore Light Strike Vehicle, in it is Cadet Sergeant MagicalGeek and his second in command, it was speeding pass the ruins and rubble of the city towards the Commonwealth Forces and such it was noticeable, when it finally stopped MagicalGeek jumped out and came running in.
"They found Squealer and the rest of the Merchants, they're facing withdrawal but she confirmed it! The Merchants are basically gone as an effective gang!" MagicalGeek announced rushing towards the Commonwealth Command Car.
Looking up from where she was sitting, Shirone arched an eyebrow at Geek. "So unless anyone is hiding in the rubble we're about done here for gang hunts," she said. "Last report on the Undersiders said they were only four strong, if they've sense they likely joined the evac, same as the Palanquin group."
"In that case we can start the clean up." MagicalGeek replied as he grabbed the radio in the Command car. "Hammer-Actual this is Scythe-Actual, reporting the discovery of Squealer and the possible destruction of the Archer's Bridge Merchants."
<<Say again Scythe-Actual?>> Hammer-Actual asked.
"Reporting the possible destruction of the Archer's Bridge Merchants." MagicalGeek replied slowly.
<<Copy that Scythe-Actual, over.>> Hammer-Actual replied.
"Well it's back to cleaning up and actually making sure the Merchants are dead." MagicalGeek sighed in relief.
Shirone shrugged. "Most likely are, they're supposed to be dockward mainly, and druggies, so most wouldn't be living it up, they likely lived in shacks, hovels or squatted with their crap, and we pounded that area pretty flat because half the guns and munitions in the city seemed to be focused in it," she pointed out. "Might need the dog and wolf units to sniff out the corpses though."
"True, well that would be up to the remaining forces staying to do that." MagicalGeek mused as he took a sip of his canteen. "But then again, it would be how much we can find." Looking at the plumes of smoke rising up into the sky. "We threw a lot of ammunition into the city during the bombing campaign."
She gave him an amused look. "I should hope I know part of that, seeing as most of 1CBG's aerial munitions seem to go through my wing, meaning me and Ghrath."
"Then I hope that you can tally up on Parahuman kills." MagicalGeek jokes, as he looks around. "Cause this is a mess to sort out, in fact it will be the biggest pain in the arse to dig through later." MagicalGeek paused and looked at the line of ABB Gang members. "At least we didn't have to level the entire city." MagicalGeek mused.
"Crusader by artillery, Hookwolf, Night and Fog by bombs or missiles, looked like Alabaster staring up at the CNB on one snap I saw, likely Skidmark and Mush in that mess," Shirone counted off, frowning slightly. "Ground kills for pilots count Victor, Stormtiger, Krieg and Kaiser. Cricket was from a ground unit. Pilot ground captures were the wannabe valkyrie twins, Rune, Othala and Coil from ground units, though Coil was by people who jump out of planes for a living," she added in amusement. She had been paying attention, since there hadn't been much action around, fortunately. "Haven't heard which unit found Squealer yet, but since you came running in to yell about it she's captured."
"Squealer was captured by the Australian Light Horse Cadets who were searching the yard." MagicalGeek replied. "They found her hiding in one of the old trains."
Shirone nodded. "Put her in for ground then, and obviously the surrender here," she waved at the people being led away, some of them, those that saw her, muttering about her for obvious reasons.
"Yeah, which would mean all the major gangs." MagicalGeek nodded before glaring at some of the ABB members who flinched when they were subjected to the Sergeant's glare. "Looks like this is not going into the Cadet's Channel."
Snorting softly, Shirone shook her head. "Of course not, it'd scare the neighbours too much if they found out this was the type of thing we handled far too often, much less the 'more interesting' encounters."
"Agree…" MagicalGeek trailed off as he got a look. "What do you think the Wards are doing back at Hanscom?" MagicalGeek asked with a wry look.
"Getting scared shitless probably," she replied. "I mean, from what I've heard the youngest of the group was trying to follow some cadets during PT, probably collapsed after it. The others, from what I've heard, don't strike me as real fighters." Shirone paused, frowning slightly. "Can't say I expect the adults would be too much better for the most part either, though Ghrath thinks that one woman, the one who collected the kids, might know warfare, didn't think much of the kids, bar maybe blondie, said she at least had grit, not like the rest."
"Which Blond?" MagicalGeek asked. "Because the youngest is blond, one of the males is blonde and there are few other blonds I've seen." MagicalGeek asked, looking confused.
"The youngest girl of the group," Shirone replied.
"Ah." MagicalGeek nodded. "The one that wanted to follow in our footsteps but was very much failing to qualify for Infantry?" MagicalGeek rhetorically asked jokingly.
Shirone sent him an amused look. "To be fair I doubt the world they came from has to deal with everything we do, and I didn't start as early as most, I caught up."
"True, I don't think the so-called Youth Guard that we've been hearing would even survive facing the Commonwealth Cadet Corps." MagicalGeek chuckled.
"We get into how many scrapes a week?" asked Shirone, her eyes twinkling in amusement. "I mean I know history, but there've been times I've wondered whether the Commonwealth trains young because we're dumped on or gets dumped on because we actually train for it."
"I think it was when our predecessors, which was at the time a meeting of both Cadets and regular kids, got sent into another world and became god." MagicalGeek chuckled in amusement, his eyes full of mischief as if he got an idea.
Cocking her head slightly, her ears standing up, Shirone looked at him. "Wait, which one was that? I mean I remember hearing about Vokunir and Solovaas, but those were technically from elsewhere crossing with us due to something with Elder Scrolls."
"I believed it was Rule 1 of The rule book of Things no longer allowed involving the Cadets after you misplaced them in another dimension and they accidentally became gods there Rule Book started after the Original 1st Cadet Battlegroup was accidentally sent to another world." MagicalGeek replied with a mischievous smile.
Ears flattening, she gave him a deadpan look. "I meant the names, not the fact they started that list, Geek. I mean, practically everyone in the Commonwealth has at least heard some of those rules, just due to how often we have to add more to them or to the variants floating around."
"Ok, ok." MagicalGeek chuckled. "It was Lt General William Jack Churchill, he was called the god of war, bagpipes and good food in that dimension."
"God of bagpipes…" Shirone deadpanned. "Did every instrument have a god or was he just lucky enough to find the one everyone with sense fears?"
"Well besides him, Brigadier general Mark Wavell was god of bugles and Cavalry." MagicalGeek mused. "Churchill was just lucky enough to find the one everyone with sense fears."
Face palming, Shirone shook her head. "I'm not sure I want to know what sort of idiocy that civilisation was coming up with."
"I tried to check." MagicalGeek chirped happily to Shirone. "The file was heavily dripping in black ink about the incident and civilisation."
"So black ops up the wazoo… hopefully it's a place we've not gone back to since if it's that bad," Shirone muttered, shaking her head.
"No, it wasn't black ops…" MagicalGeek trailed off chuckling. "It was because the tech was classified and that the Cadets and kids that got sent there also reported their everyday lives, which includes many, many embarrassing things." At that MagicalGeek had a laughing fit.
Sighing again, Shirone shook her head before turning her attention to the line of criminals, watching it shrink slowly down.
MagicalGeek just continued chuckling before walking back to his LSV Mk II to drive back to the Parachute Corps Headquarters, as he left, the Prisoner Transports arrived, the Heavy Duty Armored Transport arriving with the hiss of their heavy duty air brakes, the transports looks much more intimidating than the usual PRT Prisoner Transports.
"Get up and line up!" One of the Guardsmen shouted as they marched the Prisoners to the transport, with Lung and Oni Lee getting their own transports, for today the Battle for Brockton Bay is over and that Operation Law and Order has achieved many of its objectives, leaving the rest to the clean up and investigations as every Federal and State Law Enforcement Agencies will be checking the place with a fine-tooth comb.
