War has broken out and by the order of the duke you've left your village to join the army putting down your [wheat farmer] class to pick up the militia class.

A war is a terrible thing and you must navigate your way through it but with some smart choices and a little bit of luck (or a lot of it) you might find your way to happy ending.

If you survive that is.
Conscripted.
War.

War never changes.

Ucross countless worlds dfirenanted by culture, technology and sometimes even the very rules underpinning reality war is always the same.

No matter how just, war is always the same.

A brutal ender of life.

An ender of dreams.

Where countless people have their life cut short, their dreams forever shattered.

Whatever they might have accomplished, now claimed by the void.

And the world is all the lesser for it.

In the world of Linrasel a world whose very existence is supported by a system of levels and classes an incident occurred between the Taramid kingdom and the Ulthen kingdom.

The incident itself matters not, only the fact that now a state of war exists between the two nations matters.

In a bid to get an advantage in this war [duke] Willson has swiftly called his bannerman to arms and instituted a conscription notice to his territories.

You are one of the unlucky sods who was conscripted from your village.

Bid to exchange your [farmer] class to the [militia] class, a special class that can rapidly convert non-combat class levels to [militia] levels.

But why have you specifically been conscripted?

[] you were just unlucky (easy).

It is an unfortunate reality that sometimes people just get unlucky and as you were the first man the official saw you got undeniably unlucky but the universe pays its debt.

Gain 5 lucky breaks charges, the players may spend a charge to ensure a positive result from a roll and a charge may be spent BY the QM to change the outcome of a roll (all rolls even those done by other NPC's) to a more beneficial to you result (but will only be done when the result would have been very bad otherwise.

[] you volunteered in place of your brother (medium).

The village only needed to provide a certain amount of man and when your younger brother was picked by the official you volunteered to go in his place.

Gain the will to live trait- whenever you face a save or die check roll twice and use the Higher result.

[] you had a rare second class (hard).

While it isn't talked about much some classes are just better then others, either covering a wider portfolio, giving better perks or having some special effects and somehow, you've got one.

Upgrade your second-class choice to a rare version.

As a mere level 6 [wheat farmer] your prospects in war are dire but you have no other choice.

All you can hope for is that your second class might help you survive

But what is your second class?

[] laborer.

The laborer class is a basic class which helps with dealing with long periods of constant physical exhaustion and applies to many, many physical works. A common second class for [farmers], [builders] and [crafters] to help deal with the exhausting work they must do.

The rare version [relentless laborer] reduces the effect of fatigue and even lowers the need for sleep by two hours.

[] leatherworker mender.

A common class for wives and apprentices for more experienced leatherworkers. The [leatherworker mender] specializes in repairing leather works, be it worn boots, torn gloves or a snapped harness the [leatherworker mender] can repair it all.

The rare version [mender] gives one the proficiency to repair all mundane objects.

[] small game hunter.

A class very common among the older brothers in large families who take it upon themselves to help put food on the table for the family, this class focuses on small time games which are relatively non-dangerous and gives a proficiency with ranged weapons.

The rare version [perceptive hunter] gives one a six sense for hidden animals to all the better hunt them.

It is a somber day when you say goodbye to your family as your mother already mourns the loss of her son and your father tries to shove a lifetime of advice down your ear for the off chance it might help you survive.

And you aren't the only one who receives such a tearful goodbye for seven more march to death alongside you.

Before long you must be off and you and seven others -both friends and acquaintances- follow the soldier assigned to guard you to the gathering place.

Slowly you leave your birth village behind towards your new -and quite possibly very short- life.

The odds aren't in your favor but just before your birth village is out of sight you promise yourself that you'll see it again.

Welcome to A Conscript War a hopefully somewhat short (like about 40 posts or so) Quest about surviving a war as a peasant/conscript.

This quest is going to last from the start of the war (you do get a few preparation turns) to its end (or your death) upon which depending on your choices and how the war ended you'll get an ending and your job is to both survive for the end and to reach a good (or at least neutral) ending.

I hope you'll enjoy and join me on this journey but I do want to say a word of warning, the main focus of this quest is going to be war and war ain't pretty for anyone so if you aren't in the mood or don't like a lot of gore, skip this Quest.

And with that I do hope you'll enjoy it.

The vote will be open for a day or so.

Mechanics.
The mechanics of A Conscript War are very simple.

Whenever you need to make a check for any reason, you roll you're a 1d10+ your relevant attribute+ your class level (if what your doing is covered by your class).

We have 6 attributes in this quest angry are the common ones for this kind of thing.

Strength.

Dexterity.

Constitution.

Perception.

Intelligence.

Charisma.

All of those attributes move between -3 to +3 to represent how good you are. Your starting attributes will mostly depend on your starting class and maybe a few choices in the next part.

In A Conscript War your class grants you 2x its level as a modifier if what your doing is the purpose of the class (a [wheat farmer] for example would gain 2 times his level when he's growing/harvesting wheat) and it's level when your doing something in the class family (so the [wheat farmer] would gain his class level to growing/harvesting anything that isn't wheat) and half its level when doing something related to the class family (so the wheat farmer would gain half his level to help with physical fatigue as it related to farming but it by itself isn't part of the process).

Additionally, every 5 levels you receive a skill from your class, that gives major bonuses to very specific actions and every 10 levels you gain a perk.

Well cover how combat works when we actually get to It.
