10: Yato, as you decided to call him, gave you the basics of this style when you made your bond. Specifically, how to use your already impressive spirit to better guard your soul and emotions against attacks. While you haven't had a chance to put what you've learned into practice you know enough to use the beginner techniques and moves to defend your soul from attacks. (+10 to Resist Soul Based Combat Attacks)

15: With Yato's instruction you start focusing on what UMT is all about: withstanding and resisting all types of harm. He has you build on the basics, going from your soul to your emotional state. Through constant reminders to focus on what's in front of you, you learn how to use Unyielding Mountain to control your emotions during combat. (+5 to Resist Emotion Based Combat Actions)

20 - 25: With he basics down, Yato moved on to teaching you the first actual technique in the Style. This move was intended to be a counter. You brace your inner self, forging a small barrier around your soul using excess energy from your body. Then, when the enemy attacks, you release the energy to both deflect it and reflect the damage onto them. Yato called this Reflecting Wall Technique: Soul Version. (Gain Technique: Reflecting Wall Technique: Soul Version)

30: Yato takes a more direct approach to teaching you this time around. By that you mean, he keeps sending spiritual spikes of pain aimed at your soul using his powers as a ghost. Each time you're expected to use the Reflecting Wall to stop his attack. After a good few hours, you finally get it down to the point where you can quickly activate it during combat to defend against an attack. (Reflecting Wall Technique: Soul Version will now automatically activate in Combat)

35: With the first technique learned, Yato moves on to teaching you the second. This one is focused outward instead of inward. Instead of using your body to guard your soul, you use your soul to guard your body. Through a method Yato calls "projection" you mold your soul into an ethereal but no less solid "armor" that can guard your physical self from attacks. However, this technique will make your soul more vulnerable to damage, as you are literally wearing it around your body. He names this technique, Impenetrable Spirit Armor. (Gained Technique: Impenetrable Soul Armor)
This really feels like Persona. Fitting.
Through a method Yato calls "projection" you mold your soul into an ethereal but no less solid "armor" that can guard your physical self from attacks. However, this technique will make your soul more vulnerable to damage, as you are literally wearing it around your body.
So don't use it when your opponent can do damage to your soul.
15: Then you do the same thing for those who would be considered "well off". This one's a bit easier as you're surrounded by people like that. Though you don't really make much head way in actually making friends, you do start to understand how someone more fortunate than you feels.
This is going to be useful.
10: Yato seems more receptive to learning about people less fortunate than you. In fact, he's quiet the entire time you're talking to him about it. By the end of it, he simply thanks you for "Helping me remember something important." Whatever that means, at least he got the idea behind the less fortunates' feelings.
Interesting. Seems like Yato was a general or such who fought for regular people.

When you asked about classes, he said they were trivial. As expected.
That's our bro.
He has a Perk that lets him have 3 AP.
Perk: Protagonist.
2. Actually, on the studying note. I kind of have to wonder, how much Education Scales for this year. We know the human cap is 100, so it can't scale too absurdly. Is 15 really all one needs to pass in this school? Or does it rise every four weeks? Or something along those lines.
No, that was just general, not challenging level.
Also, these weren't Checks. Nothing you did in class this week was actually meant to be challenging or tough.

It was more just to see where everyone was generally speaking in terms of mental acumen.

Lets start with by fixing our study situation. Then we can scout out the school for ghouls and ghosts.

Education (-):
- History (-)
- English (-)
- Mathematics (-)
I can understand English & Mathematics. The quest is set in Japan, but history?...Is their some kind of AU facts to be discovered? Ponders.

Probably not. Suppose we will find out for sure when we eventually raise it later.

Anyhow, I really do think we should focus on mathematics first, not only is it Yamato's highest skill at the moment, so it makes narrative sense, why he'd focus on that for Hayato. In addition, if anything revolving around time management exists for education. Its likely behind it.

History Second, and English Third. Unless their is a change in situation.

What do you all think?

Because its important to know what has happened in your own world in the past? The same reason we teach History now?
I was mainly theorizing about potential implications and info increasing History would give us, that are relevant to the setting of this quest. Or if this world has the exact same public history.

But I guess it really could just be there because schools usually teach history.

Science and such left out since those fall under the Invention Category.

With our limited action pool and so many skills to develop and us having a debuff on our Education, I think we should concentrate only on one of them at the moment, since even with a partner it is going to take lot of actions to raise them to good levels. But I do think we should raise all of them at least some to not completely fail our classes.

● Mental Resistance: 40 (Yato Base) + 10 (Yamato Link) = 50.

Just edited since I didn't account for Yamato link. Anyhow...

Gotcha. Hmm...
Skills with (+) gain 15 a week.
Skulls with (-) gain 5 a week,
Skills with neither gain 10 a week.

Your Debuff of a Skill will get canceled out if your Training Partner has the Skill as a Bonus.
If you have a Bonus to a Skill, but your Training Partner has a Debuff to that same Skill, then you don't get any extra points, but they do.
Nagai Hayato (Brother): 4/10 (Points: 5/8) [Gives +3 to Education Training, +2 to Tactics: Cleverness, +1 to Barter: Business] [Gives +10 to Resistance: Mental when in Combat]
Training Bonuses
Education - Hayato (Debuff) + Yamato (Bonus):
+0 to Hayato & +??? to Yamato.
Culture - Hayato (Debuff) + Yamato (Normal): +??? to Hayato & +??? to Yamato..
Invention - Hayato (Normal) + Yamato (Normal): +1 to Both.

Training Per AP
Education Category: 10 + 3 = 13 Per AP.
Art: 10 Per AP. (Presumably By Debuff Cancelled. It Turns 5 Per AP Into 10.)
Practicality: 10 + 1 = 11 Per AP.

Since we need at least a 15 on all five subjects. At least before they scale up again. It would take about 10 AP or rather five weeks worth of studying to past that threshold. In that case, since studying two at a time won't allow us to pass.

At least if we focus on one subject, then move on to another. We will be able to survive next week when it comes up.

...though this does tie up our AP quite a bit.

- Mental (+) (Your Mind): 40
If we need a Resistance skill at/above 35 to improve our martial arts I'd say training Mental with Yato would be our best bet. Spiritual is tagged, so I'd rather not spend actions on it if we can get away with it, and doing Mental gives Yato the Resistance All 50 perk (assuming this quest uses them).

Of course this is a future concern, considering our school related skills need to be worked on first.

It wouldn't. In order for Debuff to be cancelled, the partner must have their corresponding skill at Bonus.

Why wouldn't we want to train a tagged skill? Only thing being tagged does was starting the skill at 15 instead of zero.

Karnax raises a good point. Hey @LinkOnScepter, does this quest have All-50/100/150 perks for skills? Mainly asking because IIRC since even in Eastern Rhapsody, which seems to be the version of the AGG system that you're using, there was All-50 perks.

I really need to triple check things more. That and stop posting on the phone so much.

...I wonder if training with someone who has a debuff actually lowers Yamato's own gains. In which case, we should probably find someone else. In order to avoid sabotaging Yamato. Also Art Classes are going to be hell on Earth.

Which is kind of funny considering how empathic Hayato is supposed to be on a natural level. Guess he has a hard time expressing it in art.
Why wouldn't we want to train a tagged skill? Only thing being tagged does was starting the skill at 15 instead of zero.
I presume its because of the level up chances.
Everytime you level up any tagged Skills or Skills you have Bonuses in will go up by 5. Any Skills you don't have a Bonus or Debuff to will go up by 3. Any Debuffed Skill won't raise at all.
Though it depends on how frequent level ups will be, and if we could reliably plan a strategy around that.

I could get behind that. All 50 Perks are amazing.

As for school...what's funny about Hayato's current crisis with English, History, Math, Art, and Practicality is that this in a way makes perfect sense.

This school is perfect for Yamato. Someone who is naturally intelligent, driven, the main character, and is acing his classes at the moment.

The fact that its proven difficult for Hayato aka the Brother, the at the moment comic relief character to any anime watchers fits.

Cool. Currently, we're closest to Martial Arts All-50, which ought to be really useful.

We have it at 0-15-35 RN, and train Martial Arts at 25 per AP if we train alongside Yato. Means we can get Brawling to 50 in 2 AP.

The main roadblock ofc is raising the cap on Unyielding Mountain.

Yeah, best not try to rely on just level ups to raise our stats.
True.

On the Martial Arts front.

One thing I have to wonder if how that would work if one has multiple monster partners?

If each has their own martial art which they then choose to pass on to their partner. Wouldn't that mean, their would be no end to the list?

So would the All-50 perk count if we upgrade Brawling, Street Fighting, and UMT to 50?

Or does it count regardless. As long as one has 50 in three skills in the Category.

Since we chose 'Swear On This Book', it would at least end at 4 partner martial arts, since that's the maximum amount of partners you can have.

As a bit of a heads up, Supernatural Martial Arts can't work with each other normally. Certain ones are just way too different to be able to mix well in Combat. So having all 50s in two Supernatural Martial Arts won't give you much.

But again, I said normally. There are exceptions.

The greater bonus takes Precedent in that case, so it would only get a +5.
