That toaster fucking Quarter Wit stole your dissertation.
Your graduation to a fully recognized member of the mechanicus was tainted by another stealing you work and claiming it as their own.

An entire order of the cult is dedicated to the study of logistics and eficency. Your work was the study of some potential cost saving measures in the production of plasma weaponry.
Small on it's own but their is a lot of plasma weaponry in the imperium and small improvements would scale up to massive amounts of resources.

The Quarter wit Toaster fucker stole that data and presented it along side some token other work they did and claimed it all as their own. In fact in your rage you added something to your to do file.

Code:
To do. Txt
>1: Serve the Cult
>2: Improve my mastery of the mechanical arts
>3: Only Refer to the toaster fucker as a toaster fucker
>4: Turn said toaster fucker into a servitor that polishes my feet.

With nothing else to do you had to present some older data, all that you had was something form earlier in your studies focused on the lower technology that many disdained, but the basis of even the most righteous of holy instrument starts with the simple forging of metal. To turn stone to the holy steel going past the weakness it started with to turn it to something more, just like one does with the flesh.

You were forced to program just a few slides and notes ahead of what you were saying as you presented your data and the implications of it. It was far far less impressive and you knew the Fabricator Locums overseeing it would be bored by your studies on the logistics and rapid production of base metals.

They were unhappy and it was clear on their faces they expected something more from you.

You however knew they would be. Your dreams for what offers you would receive to holy orders and positions evaporated the second you saw the toaster fucker present your data. At this point your highest hope was not to be made into a servitor. As if reading your mind one of them speaks up and ends your anxiety.

"Your chosen specailization is highly unusual, however, we have a highly unusual situation we are in need of someone for. We have discussed it and you shall have a posting as an enginseer with the 112th Iron Drakes Regiment. The Data packet is being sent now."

Well, Enginseer isn't bad a few years of battle, and proving your worth you could climb up to becoming respected, it is fine all things considered. You read over the data packet quickly, the posting is quite distant but that is fine, you will have a budget for parts and supplies you will need which is typical the regiment is numerous with a focus on close combat, odd but noted. The home world and regiment type is.

"Is this data packet correct? I'm getting a reading that they are a feudal world. As in fighting with swords and at best crossbows." You ask carefully.

"Yes, they have been locked in a stalemate for some time on a planet of little particular worth, The Imperial Guard has a standing request for an enginseer to be posted their, with hopes that they may be able to help them preform better by providing a technical edge. Ideally even upgrading them to something more useful. Though no one expects that quickly, it is expected however that you will be instrumental in retaking the planet they have been stuck upon."

You bow your head accepting another data packet of details as the request to leave that it is.

With nothing else to do you start shopping for the resources you will request to lead this regiment to greatness.

The very first thing you do as you get onto the ship is go over the data of the regiment more thoroughly. One of the more useful pieces of data is the regimental layout of troops.

Code:
112Th Iron Drakes (From Kvalgron)
(3) Battalion Light Infantry
--(3) Companies Spear men
--(1) Company Archers
--(1) Command Company

(1) Battalion Siege Works
--(2) Companies field artillery
--(2) Companies Engineers
--(1) Company Miners

(1) Battalion Shock Troops
-Battalion Shock Troops
--(2) Companies House Guard Heavy Infantry
--(1) Company Light Cavalry
--(1) Company Heavy Cavalry
--(1) Command Company

(1) Squad Storm Troopers

(1) Commissar
--(6) Commissar Candidates

The data breaks down further, but what you see is already telling, mostly spears and archery. The shock troop battalion seems to be where the money and influence goes. Some of the data explains the recruitment for that battalion is highly controlled. Where as the other ones are considered a legal right to enlist in if you meet the requirements.

The planet truly is a feudal world, the most advanced artillery they have is a trebuchet. You feel resigned reading that, this is going to be about finding a way to work with these primitive nearly monkey level savages and turn them into something useful.

Luckily they are fighting equally primitive orks, though your data file on orks say they can tech upwards rapidly when united by a single boss. That isn't something you can act upon easily, but it is good to know. What it does mean though is that giving the regiment a tech advantage could be relatively simple, you took blueprints for steel and titanium recyclers, and mono laser sharpeners. Just better armor and better blades alone could be a decisive edge. Archers are an interesting problem, you could make mono-edged arrows but that seem's a waste.

You may have to put some time into researching and designing a good solid metal arrow so you can quickly print and sharpen them. Ideally you also need to take up a project to build the laser sharpeners into the recylers so it can produce mono-edged weapons for you.

All of these thoughts and planning is interrupted when there is a small knock upon your door. You open it and the captain is waiting and gives a formal bow.

"Honored Enginseer, I have come to make a humble request of you. My ship is in need of some retrofits and work, battle damage and ad-hoc repairs never fully completed instead just keeping us moving to preform our duties, and since you will be here for some time, it was my hope that you would be willing to preform some of the sacred duties, a proper repair to a few systems would be great for the ship. I understand your busy, but if you are to undertake the work I have a servitor that could be of some assistance it was meant for battle damage repair and I'd be happy to leave it in your care in exchange for the repairs"

You think upon this a moment and promise to get back to him with an answer soon, it isn't your problem that he doesn't understand binary chatter as you shut the door in his face.

Though the offer is tempting, you check into the workshop that was locked by the previous tech priest on board, and apply a different lock. It's a tradition to leave some tools and parts for the next tech priest upon the ship. You have enough for his requested repairs, and the ship is in need of them it is a tired machine spirit that could use the care.

On the other hand these parts could be the start of your production line. You will have to make a choice.

As you grow closer to the planet you have to make one more choice. The ship you are on is supposed to take refugees to a nearby planet. Several of those refugees could be useful. Doctors and engineers could be worth their weight in gold with what you need to do to this regiment. However they are not volunteering.

The regimental commissar is known to be fond of the mechanicus and worked well with them in the past. You could make a request of him to go and enlist a few of those people. He has such an authority and even a substandard work crew would be miles ahead of these you could pull from the regiment. The question is, is it worth striking a reputation of fear before even stepping on planet, to enslave people to your service from day 1?

Reputation is a powerful tool, the red robes are not given until that is thoroughly understood. Though with reputation on the mind your going to have to plan how you want to treat the officers and leadership of the regiment.

The ship has almost arrived and you can contact the commissar.

Plan Voting:
--------------------
What work do you get done on your flight.
[] Do the work on the ship for the servitor and for the machine spirit that will be pleased.
[] Do not do the work on the ship so you can land with 2 steel recylers ready
---------------
Do you take the chance to contact the commissar and grab a few able bodies?
[] Request the Commissar enlist a few doctors and engineers for you as staff.
[] Do not make the request of the Commissar so as not to be seen as a slaver.
------------------
How should you act with the leadership of the regiment you are about to meet.
[] Remain Mysterious while you learn about them
[] Be commanding the underdeveloped soldiers need to understand that you do not answer to them, if anything the opposite.
[] Be polite, they may be willing to help sincerely if you play their games.

It's an easy choice for you to make as a priest. You can not abide by the suffering of a machine spirit in front of you, even if it will hurt your long term more abstract goals at the moment. The work is extensive and you spend hours and days in the middle of huge piles of wiring relabeling, organizing and occasionally have to flat out rip out simple components and reproduce them from the ground up. It's the type of work that means removing layers of temporary fixes built upon temporary fixes and returning something to the proper and holy specifications.

The work continues until almost moments before the ship is going to be landing. It gives you just a little bit of time, to look over some information about the planet and how the war front is going. The orks have been found on three continents. The attack started just a few days after a guard regiment was raised leaving the PDF with almost no men or equipment, they were completely overwhelmed within days and lost cohesion breaking down and retreating into the civilian base and being led off planet with all the other refugees. Given that the orks are seen on a few planets within the system forces are spread thin. The area was thought to be safe.

You will be landing on a small peninsula that pushes out of the largest continent. Local history shows the planet was an agriculture based world and the city was built because of a seafood industry. People love diversity in their diets and it developed into one of the largest space ports and cities on the planet. Luckily for you that means a lot of raw resources in steel and fereocrete.

It was chosen as a defensible location to hold and slowly push outwards from logistics and supply lines being easy in a giant city. Only two of the battalions are on the peninsula. One light infantry and the siege works battalion. The examination of the planet and battle ends by the craft being near the landing zone. It is time for you to go and meet your regiment. It is time that you start your duties as an enginseer.

Fucking primitives.

The captain thanks you for the work as you leave the ship. Your newly acquired servitor walking in tow and carrying some of your basic supplies. It was a simple thing designed around construction work but it would do well enough for your purposes of operating the machinery you still have yet to build. You are met by a young boy in chain mail with a sword on his hip.
"Hello sir, I am a page sent to lead you to command" you simply nod at him and follow along as he leads to the camp walking past lines of refugees.

The camp is not what you expected. It's a parking garage. A huge sprawling many leveled underground parking garage, but a parking garage none the less. The first level is heavily patrolled by men in breast plates and wielding spears and seems to mostly be controlling the flow of traffic in and out as well as primitive metal working so that the toxic fumes can dissipate. You are lead down several levels. What little you see of them shows an interesting story. One of them has been converted into a simple training yard electric lights illuminating simple wooden and straw targets as they are attacked by young men with spears. On a level below that it seems that a simple barracks has been made. They are using wooden frames filled with car seat cushions, rugs or whatever else they could find to make more comfortable bedding.

It is one of the much lower levels where you eventually find the command center for this prong of the planetary war. The first thing you notice is that the floors are all carpeted and the walls often have carpet or leather on them giving the entire place a more comfortable aesthetic and helping trap some of the heat.

The main command room is quite odd. They have a large fireplace that apparently they had to build a chimney for through the other floors. The rugs of various sorts give the room odd clashes and mixes of color. The commanders are waiting to speak to you around a large table that has various hand drawn and from what you can tell fairly inaccurate maps on it. Standing around said large wooden table is are three men wearing steel breast plates and different colored cloaks on their backs.

"Ah I see that you were found by the page, we are hoping you would allow him the honor of being your errand boy, he is one of the princes many nephews and expressed an interest in your work"

A spy, they want the small teenage child to spy on you. You hardly care though these primitive quarter wit savages could hardly do anything with whatever he may observe.

"I would be honored to accept the....child into my care for the time that I am with the regiment" (+5 Kings Blade reputation) You respond as your attempt at human diplomacy. The child will be of little use, they don't seem to have radios or communication systems, so at least you can use him as a literal messenger boy if all else fails.

They introduce themselves as lords halrdric, apparently all from the same family line. You are sure the page can figure it out, you don't expect to interact with them much personally, even now time is wasting you can be shaping steel and thunder to produce arms and armor. These apes do not understand the value of your time and are thus keeping you busy with diplomacy, they offer food and drink but you decline as politely as you can as they make impotent small talk.

"So, as the strategic leaders for this battle field we were wondering to your...tactical capabilities." All three of them look at the giant metal servo arm the spouts from your back and reaches over your shoulder. As well as the two mechadendrits which hang in the air slightly over your shoulders.

"I am here to oversee production of superior arms and armor, as well as taking part in battle when and if I decide it is necessary. Though the extent of what battles I will take part in will depend upon my goals, the commissars and the value to the war" You respond intentionally implying as politely as you can that you are not part of their plans and are free to do whatever you feel is important at your own discretion.

"The King's blades have the greatest arms and armor our planet can provide, I highly doubt one more smith will make a great difference." One of them scoffs at you apparently insulted by the implication their equipment is insufficient.

"I am a priest of things you do not yet understand not a simple metal smith. You are correct though, your men are provided the best your planet can provide, that is in fact exactly why am I here. Would you like to discuss this further or would you like me to get to my sacred duties?"

The other two smirk at their companion being put down, the three are apparently in some sort of inane competition. It hardly matters to you. One of the other two offers to let you "leave to settle in after your tiring trip". A polite excuse to leave and you take it. You have a great number of things to begin working on. You have a limited time before the next battle rages and sipping tea and eating figs provides no aid to the outcome of that battle being in your favor.

Leaving the command floor you ask the page and are directed to another floor of the parking garage that still has several cars on it that isn't being used. You quickly set up you few basic tools and get to work. Luckily with your servo arm you can make quick work of heavy metal sources like cars.

-------------------------------------------

You have 100 Hours: We will being using plan voting so you will need to list out the hours in correct votes.
Instead of an X just put the number of hours you want to use in the box.

Several things you think you can build now with the materials you brought, and with the cars you have to disassemble. Though it will be time consuming and even then you have limited man power to operate them.

[] Salvage cars for raw materials and components. (Expected time 3 hours per car)
[] Produce a mono-edge laser Sharpener (Expected need of 4 cars salvaged and 5 hours)
[] Steel Recycler + 3d Printer: (Expected need of 2 cars salvaged and 3 hours)
[] Titanium Recycler + 3d Printer: (Expected need of 10 cars salvaged and 10 hours)

[] Operate one of the above items after producing it (Out put based on time spent)
[] Set up a servitor to operate one of the above item continuously (Cost 5 hours to set up)

Other things will require you scout out the city and preforming some raiding, you should probably bring troops with you, if your going to do so. Mostly to move equipment but the chance of ambush in a war zone is always present.
Ferrocene Mixer, Flak Production System, Cast Spray Refiner, Basic Cybernetics Components Production lab will all require searching the city for some basic resources.

[] Search the local digital network in general: (Gives a list of possible locations Two hours minimum)
[] Search the local digital network for hospitals : (Gives a list of possible locations Two hours minimum)
[] Search the local digital network for construction sites : (Gives a list of possible locations Two hours minimum)

[] Scout the immediate area around the camp/base with a squad of soldiers. (Takes 5 hours, Cost 5 reputation with either the Storm troopers, Commissar, or Kings Blades write in which)

[] Maintain Equipment for the commissar and his trainees (5 hours, gain 5 reputation to a max of 50)
[] Maintain Equipment for the Storm Trooper Squad (5 hours, gain 5 reputation to a max of 50)
[] Organize the Kings Blades to receive equipment you are producing. (Takes 5 hours organizing it efficiently being distributed and understood, gains reputation based on what you make)

[] Draw up a custom project (Cost 1 hour just to get an idea of the time and resource requirements: This is a write in, such as automating steel producers, increasing their output, or otherwise improving or creating things that may help you or the regiment. Finishing Custom Projects Earns Ad mec Reputation.)

[] Remain ready for battle: (Cost 5 hours, to regularly preform the necessary rites, and will mean that you will help defend the camp and city in the case of attack, large bonus to reputation IF you are attacked, but otherwise that time is wasted)
