Does anyone remember that game in development by the creator of Assassin's Creed, but then the project was nipped in the bud by Ubisoft buying his company? Turns out it has been solved.

Désilets did release statements to that effect, yes, about how it's supposed to be the new Assassin's Creed. Other things said is that the premise is about being "worse than the devil" hence the use of black magic.
