Personally, no. I'm gonna be honest: having few knowledge (read: dick-all) of proper debating etiquette , I have little clue on what you meant by 'Three thousand years of good rhetorical practice'. And I think that I'm not the only one in the forum.
You could... or you could give those resistant some more positive reasons to follow your posting preferences besides "These rhetorical practices have been passed down by professional debaters for three thousand years!". (Or at least that's what I'm getting from you)
I must agree. Reading that post I felt very much patronized. I'm not a worse person because I prefer to address things point by point instead of as a block. More importantly this seems on par with banning long passages written in passive voice. It may not be something you like, but should you really be micromanaging it?
