Wow a steampunk Isekai, I had never even thought of that. And Serious, yeah we need to take our concept seriously. If we don't, who will? And you want to call Protagonist-Kun...Charles. Ok then. We can work with that!
Anyway, it's time to start working on our Pilot SV-sama!
–Reuben, 'Unnamed Isekai Anime' Director
Pilot Take 1
The Pilot Episode is what usually makes or breaks a season. It's the first impression of your show to an unsuspecting audience; done correctly, this can keep them loyal watchers for the rest of your season. Done poorly, and they'll drop it faster than the mic at an Eminem impersonator convention. In ages gone by, anime viewers would have the '3 episode rule' for a new series, to give it a chance before dropping it. However, that is becoming less and less common. Additionally, as you have only 6 episodes for this season, it's uncertain if that will make an audience more forgiving, or less.
Still, don't worry about the fact that the odds are stacked against you and this might be your one shot for glory and success. I'm gonna help tutorialise you, so you can make the best anime you can. Oh look, Reuben's got a basic script opening for you. Let's go check it out.
Intro
Our story begins in Modern Tokyo, Japan in the Spring. The sun has risen, signifying a beautiful start to a beautiful, but completely Ordinary Morning. People are starting their commute to their various destinations; work, school, etc.
But that's not what our focus is on. No our focus is drawn to a suburban house where our protagonist resides. He lives there With His Parents who are sitting downstairs having breakfast at the dinning table. Finally our camera finds it's way to a picture frame on the wall, showing our Protagonist.
Charles Airigniac, a Highschool boy, with Black Hair, dark eyes, and a completely unremarkable appearence. He could pass for any other Japanese student, aside for his foreign name.
However, Charles himself isn't present. That's because Charles is:
[Character Aspects: Pick One.]
[X] Oversleeping in bed, snoring profusely
[X] Staring at his computer screen with sleep deprived eyes
[X] Already running to school with a piece of toast in his mouth
[X] In the kitchen, making breakfast himself
[X] Getting the shit kicked out of him by a group of delinquents (+1)
[X] Trying to sneak into the house after staying out late (+1)
[X] In jail, watching the light through his window (+1)
[X] Doing something else *Insert something that he is doing*
Helper's Notes:
Do you see the BOLD, UNDERLINED sentences? This is there to help as it is the tutorial. Technically, any and all parts of a post may be 'modified' if one is willing to pay FATE Points for it. Some of these parts have been underlined and rendered 'Bold' for you to see them. This permission to 'modify' lasts only until the Episode is concluded. Once it's done for, you can no longer retroactively modify *anything*. If, say, the city is changed to Osaka or Berlin, in a new episode it can no longer be changed. New information may be tackled on, but never 'erased' or 'modified'.
Some choices may inherently give Fate Points-these are the ones with a + symbol next to them. But before you push for them, notice that whenever Fate Points are given, that is because the choice itself adds something that locks the character on a path of sorts. It may be a character aspect, it may be a background addition, it may be *anything* but since it is added due to the choice being undertaken, you get one Fate Point as a compensation.
So, with that said...
How do you EARN Fate Points as to Modify the Setting/Have a better chance with the protagonist's skills/Fight better in conflicts?
You start the Game off with 6 Fate Points, which will refresh at each new 'Episode'. That is due to you not having any 'Stunts'. Once you gain a few, the number of starting Fate Points will drop down. You gain Fate Points by allowing Reuben, the least Creative Artistic Director, to 'Compel' your character aspect of 'Average Everyday Protagonist'. Basically, he will render the entire plot as boring/cliche as possible, and do the same with the actions/consequences. Your job is to decide whether that's fine, or not.
So, TO RECAP:
1) You have 6 FATE POINTS at the start of each episode (They will diminish as you earn aspects/Stunts).
2) If you wish to modify something from the original post, make a [X] "Charles Airigniac is called Rui Natami instead" type of vote. (Remember the importance of Copy-Pasting!) Each modification costs 1 Fate Point.
3) Reuben might randomly remark on a desire to modify parts of the otherwise 'boring' plot in exchange for Fate Points. Every time he does that, as a rule of thumb the change will always be in line with an extremely cliche, overdone anime that has been done in stories of this tone before. Again-almost everything he suggests, is ripping some other source material off.
4) At the very end of the Episode, you will have *ONE* last chance to annul any modifications done by repaying the cost in Fate Points. If you do not have any fate points left, then that's it, modifications are final.
5) Fate Points that are carried over to the end of the episode can be used to 'modify' the character sheet and give the character bonuses/aspects/stunts/increase his characteristics.
6) Nothing is sacred and everything is permitted, but silly votes will be utterly ignored. By 'Silly' I intend votes which might be like modifying Charles' surname to 'PoopyBottom420' or similar.
7) Have fun.
