Future Of Edgumacation
Of course. In the end, it wasn't our military forces that propelled us nor was it the politicians. In the end, it was the people with knowledge to do stuff. First you have the common plumbers and mechanics. Then you have the engineers and inventors, and finally at the tippy-top, you have the scientists!

It was considered funny enough, that those who was responsible for some of the bad shit happening to us (inventing stuuf that spewed out CFC) was also responsible for bringing back humanity from the brink of extinction. During the Year of Sorrows, the scientists took their job very very seriously. Deep inside research complexes, researches and scientists slaved away to provide solution to the world's main issues.

First they developed things to overcome the necessities. That awful food paste thing for example. Or was it nutrient paste? I don't particularly remember. Then there was these things like "water filtration" and "vertical farming" and "cryopreservation".......

Bah. All these terms are giving me a headache.

Then they designed safety systems. Things to prevent radiation. Suits to protect us from that horrible UV rays. Air filters. Some kinda compact machine that's able to-what's that word again, desaliminate?Desaminilate? You know what fuck it. Remove salt from friggin' water. There!

Nobody can say that I'm not edgumacated!

But suffice to say, that it was the people who knew that led us out of the ashes of The Scourging. We rallied along them and, we supported them, we worked alongside them. Slowly but surely all the people in the world realized something.

We can take back control of our lives!

We can rebuild what was once lost!

Thus, cities began forming again, rebuilt from the old into the new, centered among the great minds of humanity. And as we go further, their relationship with the society around them became.....

[ ] one of mutual competition. We were proud and honoured them for their learning, and in turn sought constantly for honour to be given to our families.
[ ] one of admiration. We most frequently wanted to join them and hope to be in their ranks one day.
[ ] one of the priest and their flock. We weren't totally sure what they were on about but they did care about us!
[ ] one of mutual distance. Most of us thought they were kooks, and so we mostly left them alone.
[ ] one of mutual suspicion. Why'd they need the most of our minerals for? Are you sure this medicine thing is good for my kid?

City Building Part 1: Weather
And therefore, after The Scourging, the world we knew has been irrevocably changed. No more do we become wasteful in the time post-apocalypse, everything now is eco-green friendly. It's now been three centuries after the Fall, and as such the hole in the ozone layer isn't so pronounced anymore. But we remembered those lessons from the Year of Sorrows, and we adapted, as we should.

First things first in our city building agenda: the weather. The weather has come a long way since The Scourging. Most of the world still looks a dry an barren but we overcame that with a little bit of scientific ingenuity. It's now not so bad as during the first few years after The Fall but everything still ain't a bed of roses either. So, the city we build was slated to be in an area of.....

[ ] Hot and wet (Tropical rainforest climate).
[ ] Dry season and a very heavy wet season (Tropical monsoon climate)
[ ] Equally long dry and wet seasons (Tropical savanna)
[ ] Dry and hot with extremely cold nights. (Arid/desert)
[ ] Dry summers and warm/extremely cold winters (Semi-desert)
[ ] Hot and dry summers with cold and wet winters (Mediterranean)
[ ] Four seasons bonanza (Temperate)
[ ] Long and cold winters with very short summers (Subarctic)

And here's where the effects of the Year of Sorrows come in. The fact that the ozone layer's still a bit iffy three centuries on causes a lot of problems climate wise for us Earthlings. Not only the weather patterns went crazy but in some places it's looking more like Hell. In fact, there's still 'reminders' from time to time that our climate hasn't fully recovered. The worst offender is what we call....

[ ] The Burning. Once a week the Sun goes amok. Temperatures soar past what humans can tolerate. If you're not in shade or underground by the time this hits, you're fucked. Most get burned alive. Others...well, skin disease and fatal cancer anyone?
[ ] The Reaping. Once a week strong gusts of wind blow across the city. These ain't your normal winds, these blow hard and anything who isn't tied to a post or secured with duct tape's sure to be carried away.
[ ] The Sanding. Once a week the winds bring in sands from the desert. You can't even see in this let alone travel. All open water sources has to be closed or it's gonna get dumped on by tons of sand.
[ ] The Freezing. Total opposite of what we expect, at night once a week temperatures drop so far below zero that whoever's out there is just begging for frostbite or frozen solid. For one day a week you can make your own popsicle without buying them.

Pretty easy to handle, farming should do OK.

Seems like the easiest one to handle.
