Actually, I need to change the title of this Quest.
The whole thing with the genjutsu was people preferring not to raise it because we hadn't been training it.
And now we aren't going to be training it because we have a large modifier to it.

I know at least some of the voters are concerned that this is a bad month to train genjutsu, both in that Emiko is too busy to provide genjutsu training, and that we've had two months of B ranked missions (one arising out of a C/B ranked mission) skewing our xp expectations, when we're going on a D/C rank mission. If it stays a D-rank, that is going to be a huge swing in available XP, and it's not clear that we'll have enough for genjutsu focus + modules.
I mean, I'm still voting for your plan, because I think it's more important that you know that when I say I completely plan on getting genjutsu I mean it than slightly more optimized XP expenditure, but the Constitution hole is relatively small, and we don't need to put that many points into taijutsu because if we can't use our puppets for attacks and dodge for defense, and don't have chakra for offensive ninjutsu, and we're not in a position to retreat, things have gotten so ridiculously bad that a few extra points in taijutsu are unlikely to save us. Taijutsu's real main advantage to Shizue was opening those Suna Ryu techs.
The XP plan I'd certainly push if we lost would be to patch the con hole, drip a little into str/taijutsu/movement, and then push the rest into genjutsu focus to prep for a genjutsu month with a larger pool of XP. Please, rest assured that it's not "do we get genjutsu or not?" the question is "do we get genjutsu this month or next month?"

We have a semi-permanent minor genjutsu modifier due to being Emiko's student, similar to our base modifier for clan jutsu, puppetry, and earth jutsu due to our background and elemental affinity, if I recall correctly. If you mean the 1.5 modifier for the focus, I don't believe so, since us buying it slowly lets our QM build foreshadowing for it in the narrative and it was given due to the tie between the two focuses, so it would be very surprising if it went away.

If you are asking about the 1.5 for buying Genjutsu Focus, that one is there because of how contested the vote between it and Ninjutsu Focus was, so it is permanent.

When we get to the next XP vote, I for one am not voting for any plan that doesn't include a healthy amount put towards the Genjutsu Focus. I really regret not trying harder for a compromise plan, because we ended up with 198 XP at the end but only 9 of it was spent building towards the Focus. We really need to cut the cost of it down to a reasonable size, and in retrospect we could have already done so, enough that we could have bought the Focus and accompanying modules this upcoming month instead of the one after.

It'll only take about 33xp to fix the constitution/long distance movement hole. Another 3xp for chakra coils. Taijutsu is our emergency CQC, but should never be a focus, so we don't need to buy a ton of ranks (we should be dodging and attacking with puppets instead if at all possible). A small boost there and in STR of about 8xp gets our taijutsu attack up two, and defense up one. Survival is another 20 xp, and we've pretty much filled in those holes. That's roughly 65xp (erring towards pessimism)
We get 30-40ish xp per month due to training, and we should get another 30ish due to the mission, and maybe another 10 from "mission performance." So that's 70xp. However, we got about 50xp due to reactions and things. That would put us at filling in the holes, and put us roughly 15-20xp away from finishing genjutsu focus, and after the gatekeeper mission, we'll have much beefier missions available to us. If we only have to spend 20xp to finish the focus, and have around 100-120xp to play with next month, that'll be plenty to get the focus, get genjutsu up to chunin, maybe put some points into INT, and get up to half the d-rank modules.
Hrm, with that, we'll have genjutsu at "usable" but will want to get it up further. Since we don't know how long we get at the moon base, I'd recommend we have a puppetry month so we can boost our primary combat method after that, and then do another genjutsu month to finish bringing that to chunin, since that's something we can do "on the road" so to speak if our moon base time is on the short end of the estimate, while puppetry benefits heavily from being able to sit down and put stuff together. And Emiko might have gotten those materials she keeps mentioning by then.
So...basically, react like mad! Maybe write an omake!

The thing is the Genta bonus isn't even relevant. We only need it to narratively justify buying Genjutsu Focus, because it costs enough that we aren't going to be buying literally anything else.
