Sweet huh? Some of this mindset has rubbed off on you and you find you are more effective the more stress you are under.
So that's obviously Mickey Mouse's bar in the first option. The second could be a magical girl plot starter? Or it could be a "fall into a fantasy setting" type thing, or a horror movie starter. Lots of options there. The third seems heist/investigation movie.(Choose One)
[X] There are rumors of a possible contamination in the Undercity. The place of interest is one of your old haunts, a bar run by a Mr. Michael Mouser. Last time you checked he was still on the agency payroll.
[X] A young girl was reported missing from the residential district a few days ago. The police had called off the search this morning, but your department had been called in to review the investigation.
[X] There was an attempted break-in of a high security vault in the Hearth. Nothing was officially reported stolen, but the Librarian has requested an agent from each department to look into it.
Important question (although you don't need to publish the answer): Do regular votes, particularly ones without analysis/commentary, count as non-shitposts for the purposes of XP? It seems like if they did, things could rapidly get out of hand, if you ended up with more voters than expected.Every not shitpost between updates is 1xp, which can be used to purchase boons throughout the quest.
This looks to be a fascinating setting and I can't wait to see more of it. I'm not usually much for character creation votes, but hm.
Okay. I'm pretty indifferent to the department vote, except that I'm slightly worried that the religion department choice would wander strongly into themes would trigger major flame wars. So I'm going to tactical-vote against the religion department, which currently means manga.
[X] Manga Department: Many of the eastern Inkers were destroyed during the events that wiped out that part of the world. But like the Gaming Inkers, their determination begets power. Some of this mindset has rubbed off on you and you find you are more effective the more stress you are under.
If there's a movement to vote something other than religion or manga, I'd be happy to switch my tactical vote to that. Horror sounds like it could be interesting too.

What I really want is to check out Mickey Mouse's bar, but that doesn't look likely to win. So I'm going to go with "magical girl?"

Typo report: by context, "stood" should be "sat".
That was my first thought too, but the other "obvious" character from that book is Ishmael. Depends on how the bus company plays to their themes.
I don't think Jack Sparrow would fit anyways, because I read that as "don't get in a twist if he's forgotten [that he owes you a favor]". Of course, if it's not Treasure Island, I have no context whatsoever for what it might be an allusion to -- it might not even be a pirate thing. Ought to be fun.I'm really not sure who this is, the only thing that comes to mind is Jack Sparrow, what with the people forgetting him bit, but it doesn't line up with the literary origin of the other two, so I'm definitely wrong.
I dunno, "paranoid" definitely feels like it fits Holden, but I wouldn't have picked out the "skilled" aspect of that descriptor.
