I mean, if you're worried about Rukia's distrust, I just don't see what difference it makes.
I'm having trouble parsing this. You don't see what difference what makes?

Sure? I still don't like the idea of opening with a hug, and it seems odd to call dad while Rukia is still sitting there and then go back to talking with her. That, and I'm not sure Karin has any indication that Goat Face knows anything about all this yet, so it seems odd to include "he might also know something". I may be forgetting something that happened that would clue Karin in, and if so, my apologies.

Revised my suggestion to cut down on redundant info:

[] As far as I know, before the Hollow attack I was a pretty normal girl from a spiritually sensitive family, but I guess maybe there's more to it. Nejibana said something about how she's my 'birthright', and both she and Hat n Clogs have acted like I should already know a thing or two about shinigami, but she's not answering me right now. I don't know what else to tell you.
-[] Suggest that you'd be happy to try and get more information from Nejibana and Urahara. When this conversation is over, let Goat Face know about it - hearing Rukia's story and thinking about mom has left you feeling pretty down, and dads are supposed to be good at helping you feel less sad about this kind of stuff, right?

Nah, she is calling up to ask "How do I deal with this situation." Because as a 13 year old girl she really has no good answer. Goatface might be a poor dad most of the time, but when it matters he is a good Dad.

If you think Rukia is going to be overly distrustful of Karin saying "I was normal before I got my powers" is not really any different than "I don't know what to tell you".

Exactly.

That does make more sense. It still seems odd that it's framed as if we're doing it while still sitting on the roof w/ Rukia, but at this point I'm increasingly unconfident in my ability to do basic reading comprehension, so that's probably not what @Blood of Gaea means for to happen ?

No that was on my part. My dyslexia fucked me up on that part, I'll fix it.

[]First things first, give Rukia a tentative hug, she's sad and that makes you sad.
-[] Tell her how you gained your powers, and about how you seemed to be normal before that happened.
--[] You want to get more answers, so you decide to seek out what you can.
---[] Ask Nejibana if she knows what's going on, and if she remembers this other guy.
----[] Call dad, you're kind of upset, and maybe he can help you figure out what to do.
-----[] After the talk with dad, suggest going to see if Urahara knows anything more.
------[] In the conversation with Dad (and later with Urahara), specifically bring up the details of how you got your powers.

Blood, I suggest telling Dad we are going to see Urahara to ask him if he has answers. I don't trust the guy and if we don't come back at least Dad will know where we went.

Though that maybe too meta. Shrug.

Maybe, but what if she's just a lil distrustful (which is how her question reads to me)? In that case I expect the non-answer will make her more distrustful, while a direct answer might ameliorate her worries or at least be neutral. And in neither of those cases is a hug liable to be received positively -- Rukia doesn't strike me as a super huggy person....

That was actually part of my plan, but I didn't clarify it, good catch.

A+ suggestion. Incorporating it in a similar fashion to how @Blood of Gaea did:

--[] See if dad can accompany you and Rukia to Urahara Shoten tomorrow to try and get more info out of Hat n Clogs.

Welp, that's two hours.

[X] I am Karin Kurosaki. Literally no idea why I have a dead guy's Zanpakuto, but now it's mine.
-[X] Ignore the issue for now

If she wants trouble that's fine, if she accepts we know nothing that's fine.

For the Viewing pleasure of the floor, may I present a rough sketch of Nejibana
Not the cleanest of drawings, but I'm fairly satisfied nonetheless. Honestly, with how rubbish my drawings usually are, I'm quite happy with how this turned out. Perhaps when i return home and have access to my proper coloring pencils I'll give it another go!

I like Oli's better than Gaea's (not just because it more directly includes my quote-hunting :V) because it feels a little more subtle about things? Its not directly calling Dad in so much as happening to go to him after with the assumption that sharing details soothed Rukia a bit for now, or at least gave her questions to focus on. Hopefully prompting her own thoughts and guesses on the matter. Also shows why Urahara might be one to ask besides just his knowing all things, unless we're gonna suggest he can make Nejibana talk to us? xD Not sure whether Storm prefers more detailed version (dropping the birthright line) over the vague outline (tell her circumstances of getting zanpakto) , but better to include and let them cut. I don't mind hug suggestion either way, might rephrase vote outline a bit.

Also, not sure why we think bringing Dad to talk with Urahara is the proper move, until we've talked to him and found some sort of reason why he'd be relevant. Comfort us sure, but we haven't included him before?
So maybe we should do it for its own sake?

[] Try to soothe Rukia with what you know now, showing the empathy you're feeling if you can and trying for a tentative hug for your sad house guest.
-[] "As far as I know, before the Hollow attack I was a pretty normal girl from a spiritually sensitive family, but I guess maybe there's more to it. -[] While you're at it, maybe you should introduce Goat Face to Hat'n'Clogs anyways? Being open worked before, he'd probably appreciate meeting* the boss of his daughters new part-time job , especially since the guy could explain better about whats happening to Ichigo and Karin and all.

*All according to Keikaku. Bwahaha.

Honestly, if Isshin doesn't jump and beg to go with us when we tell him "I'm going to ask Urahara if he has any idea what is going on." He isn't Isshin Kurosaki but actually some alien plant. We would then have bigger things to worry about, such as why is Dad acting so OoC, and Do we need to torture him to learn where the real Goatface is?

Yay for voting!

I am also against the hug. We're not close, and she's wary of us and somewhat suspect that we're hiding something about either who/what we are, or how we obtained Nejibana. I cannot imagine her being super comfortable with us trying to hug here right now.

I highly suggest that we come clean to her about the circumstances of how we got Nejibana, with every detail we can think of. And also force her into a promise to never tell anyone else about this, especially Ichigo.

Overall, this is a great way to address this. In response to hearing this, we express the full extent of our knowledge, and provide every possibly relevant detail to help us figure out what exactly is happening. I like this Karin, and one of my biggest reasons behind my votes is to make Karin a character I actually like.
