Ofc course SV jumps right on the distrusting authorities perk. Lets do something that has a few more....homegrown plot threads to work with. Cauldron is probably out of the scope of a detective nee beat cop anyway.

It took years of backbreaking work; stakeouts where your veins were pumping more coffee than blood, endless nights haunting the precinct, but you're finally here. While the shiny new badge is nice, the Archer St bust should be proof enough that you were already a detective in all but name.
Sure it may not have been 100% above the board, it's not like the CI forms have a checkbox for "overheard some skinheads talking at the latest family picnic," but the half dozen criminals (and the drugs they were cutting with who knows what) are off the street for good now. And doesn't that speak for itself?
It's not like you believe in any of that bullshit that they spout anyway. Sure you might not give it your all when going after people you grew up with, but there's plenty of other gangbangers under Kaiser's aegis that you wouldn't even think twice about locking up and throwing away the keys. Hookwolf's rabid dogs, for instance. Hell, just a few months ago you put down one of them who didn't realize that the streets are not, in fact, the same thing as a fight ring.
And besides, it's not like you're trumping up charges against minorities. All the collars your informants have fed you were legitimate instances of illegal activity. You made sure to double check. Most of the time you even made sure to come up with some (other) probable cause to 'investigate' them under. And again, you've also arrested plenty of white people too. Though, given the demographics... that's just a statistical inevitability.
Radical rationalization is what people liked about Taylor in canon, right?
