Tropes or Cliches you actually like

I can't post the original tweet. But here's the text.

One thing I want to see more in any media is the the highly decorated, faceless goons/soldiers that pose an extreme threat to the protagonist's party. Like they don't have to be named characters, just a bunch of hyper lethal guys that the protagonists actually fears
More of this please. A reverse Mook Horror show.

I think Ajin, the manga, is a good example of this, just for the antagonist instead. When the JSDF or SAT are facing a near immortal soldier who regenerates to perfect health upon being killed, the few options afforded to them are to either overwhelm him with sheer numbers or keep a constant barrage of fire to make him constantly regenerating and immobile. He's not scared but he notes that he underestimated them.

Enemies picking up the weapons or equipment of their fallen comrades to use against the player. In Nethack, certain enemies can pick up weapons and even magical wands from their deceased allies to use against you.

I really like the mundane utility trope, wherein you see the characters of the world using their powers and what-have-you for the purposes of making life just a little more convenient for themselves.

As an added aside, is there a term for "story where character gets shunted into an AU?" Like something similar to a time travel fix-it, except it's not necessarily traveling to their past... And uh, might not even end up a fix-it fic, just by virtue of how many things had gotten changed from what they knew.

I rather like the "Hero of Another Story" moment, just because it gives the feel of a whole bigger setting going on. What brought this to mind being watching an LP of the PS1 game Eagle One: Harrier Attack. A minor character therein is Captain Veronica DeLaro of US SOCOM, who's doing all sorts of badass shit to help liberate the Hawaiian islands even when she's not working with the player character.

(the things that DeLaro's working with Eagle One to do being rescuing a group of senior USMC officers from the bad guys; stealing a prototype bad guy fighter jet; using a stealth ultralight to sneak into an enemy base, plant a computer virus to screw up their command & control systems and then level a fair bit of it via bombs to cover her escape; and after being captured in the last one, grabs vital intelligence data and escapes, just needing a lift from Eagle One to get off the train she was hiding out on)

Unexpected sympathy from unlikely sources.

This is largely a comedy development, for a mild chuckle in the moment from the viewer. The example often given is two opposing sides, except one side is being so incompetent and pathetic that the other side sends over a representative: "hey, I know we're supposed to be fighting/competing, but, uh, are you guys okay over there?"

I've also seen it in a number of fantasy light novels, where a character (main or side) is visiting an orphanage for some reason or other, and the orphanage kids learn this rich-looking noble-like character has basically no friends, or has never heard of the setting's equivalent of Santa Claus. So the orphans collectively go "oof", then act kindly to the character, who is increasingly embarrassed at this show of pity.
