Antagonistic Appropriation

The nation of what now? Nice to have explicit confirmation that they're definitely not from our Earth.
So one of my first thoughts on reading through this, even before the thread happened, was that each of the girls might be from different Earths. My train of thought then thoroughly derailed, wondering about how you'd prove that to them, or identify it yourself if you happened to be isekai'd with a group.

Dammit Pyro, I thought we talked about leaking the Season 2 plans even if it's phrased as speculation! I'm sorry, but Perfectly Human Productions cannot in good conscience continue your employment. Gather your things and leave the premises within the next two hours. :V
You had employed me? God damn, that's a thing. Wait...

Uh, you might want to double-check your HR department. I have a suspicion you might have filled it by hiring Shaded Empire Nobles and that's had an impact on things. Such as I don't think I got paid once. So you might want to find where the money did go.

And that was the big issue, wasn't it? They had to put their faith in someone whom they merely suspected was Violet. They didn't–

"Horse girl," Aquamarine said simply.

The entire team simultaneously relaxed. Sunflower found it incredibly disturbing how reassuring those two words were. Seriously, Violet had to be a Magical Girl with all the evidence arrayed against her.

"Who also arrived late to our parley with toast in her mouth," Thyme added, grinning.

Now I just feel silly for worrying.

Just gotta say, this was my favourite bit. I love how the Magical Girls were all wondering if Violence was really Violet... And then Genre Savviness led them to the correct answer. :D

Given Topaz's issues with modern slang? I considered that, but the problem is aside from Crimson's run-in with the fae, there's nothing else to feed that.
And against is how well the girls seem to work at being on the same page and working as a unit. More likely Tooaz is…
Well.
One of those unfortunates who was actively being shoved into an Iron Maiden of a closet, and thus lacks quite a bit of knowledge she might have otherwise. But if I recall correctly she's the fire-wielder with the battle axe and one of the better fighters sooo it's not like she can't carry her own weight.

If that's the concern, why not wipe the memory of the person that revealed it too?
Punster already said what I'd say here well:
If it does wipe the memories of the recipients of forbidden knowledge on top of cursing the dealer (snitch?) then it could be about cruelty, after all keeping the knowledge while being unable to warn anyone when they're straying into dangerous territories and feeling responsible for getting somebody's memories messed with is definitely not kind (to people with a strong moral compas).

(Personally I think there is a standard automatated response to supernatural secrets being revealed which can be, and in this case has been, overruled by communities that can and want to. Crimson's geas seems like something a fae tailored to her.)
Crimson's curse definitely feels like something that's got a nasty little fae tweak to it for cruelty's sake. Whether that's a one-off or standard-issue probably depends on how much the fae are mere signatories to the Masquerade versus prime movers behind it (as they were in at least one urban fantasy series I'm aware of).

I think we're forgetting the obvious here: a child, even a teenager, telling someone about faeries isn't going to be taken seriously most of the time. There's no need for any additional intercession for it to go nowhere, but the fae in question could still be spiteful enough about the attempt to curse her to be unable reveal things about others/the supernatural that the person hearing doesn't already know.

Just for my own book-keeping so I can keep things straight:
Crimson: Intel Powers, actually knows the plot, nerfed brutally by Fae Geas. Dancing in the Red Lgiht district because she's the Red One.
Topaz:Fire Powers, Big Axe, Bad with Slang, Worst Closet syndrome.
Sunflower:Uhhh…Dunno her powers? The Smart One, Holding lots of secrets.
Verdant: Plant Powers, one of the better fighters according to Violent. Kind of a scaredy-cat?
Aqua:Trident and Water powers, kind of gives me what I'd call Tumblr vibes:loud opinions, bad at actually walking the walk to see those opinions through. Not a bad person, even if in need to fit gud.
Azure:Ilkusion powers, the trans girl of the bunch, and terrified of what happens if others find out. Has a God attached! Said god is mostly dead tho.
Violet: Umbra? Avatar Powers? Azure says she shouldn't be relying on Joy, and Umbra is 'generic' so maybe something's up there. Comes with Joy, full Goddess who eats bad endings maybe? At first glance she sounds like a shoulder devil, in practice probably is just trying to get her Host to actually live her best life instead of being miserable.

Honestly she's good enough at coming up with nonexistent problems she decides need to be dealt with at all costs that her Rainbow name might more accurately be "Paranoiac Purple."

I mean the Rainbows make reference to their Magical Girl state as a transformation(brought on by trinkets, I believe) so maybe VV hasn't even ever transformed at all, yet? Her displayed power is just training(with umbra) and Joy's remodeling, not any special tricks like the others have.

…this means VV's due for a mid-season powerup! That comes with showing off her violetness, but oh well.

I think y'all might be overthinking this one. Crimson's curse seems pretty straightforward to me. She ruined the Fey's 'surprise' so she was cursed to not reveal any more secrets or surprises.

We've seen her PoV so we know she just locks down when she tries to communicate anything that could be considered a secret. It's why she comes across as kind of scatterbrained to most of the others, she can't directly lead them to any conclusions so she needs to talk around it or bring up something wildly off base, but related to get them talking about it. Or she pushes a theory she knows is wrong, but if its accepted is likely to result in the action they would take if she could actually share the secret. Crimson, gaslighter extraordinar.

I'd guess that if something is known, she can talk about it. Probably including the curse, because it's extra cruel to know that if anyone could guess, she would be able to cope so much easier. Seems very fey like to do it that way. Cruel, but technically fair because there's a way around the curse, even if it would have been basically impossible for anyone to figure it out without them being summoned to another world with magic front and center.

If Joy attempts to eat the curse there's pretty good odds that she'll also eat the fae that laid it.
Hopefully she won't also eat 'the concept of things being secret' or smth like that.

She also uses a bow

Carries a lance, light based powers.

V can use shadows to do stuff, likes to change her weapon into different forms and is skilled in melee.

That so far seems to be 'baseline' is I think the point, not associated with like, an MG transformation. It's possible that there are ties to what her MG form could do, but considering everyone except Crimson seems to have zero magic experience before isekai, we can't tell if it's an amplification of innate powers that they could have learned even without transformation trinkets, or derived from said trinkets.

We know that gods are good enough at hiding that Joy can't say for sure that any weird thing isn't one.
Isn't that more due to the inherent limitations of Gods?
It's not that Joy cannot identify them, it is more that Joy cannot observe them directly, Joy is limited by what VV can percieve.
Even if VV is upgraded with better senses etc, she is still stuck within 'human' limits.
Especially since VV absolutely refuses to go full avatar mode, unless forced or by accident.

I mean, V could also have MG powers, sure. But Zaealix was also talking about her use of Umbra, and ability to call on Joy, neither of which are linked to her MG-ness (assuming of course that she is one, she still might turn out to not be).

As for detection... Sure Violet is worried about precise targeting because similar elements can be in place elsewhere and Joy isn't very good at isolating both the element she is devouring to specifically a singular object it's trying to affect...

But. How many Faerie geasa do you expect to have in the Shadowed Realm???

There are, however, an awful lot of souls, and those are complicated.
See, Alivaril. You say that, but I'm not fully convinced and therefore will allow you to make your arguments more foolproof.

So. To begin with, despite Joy being notoriously poor at precise targeting, she claims that all the Prisms are sufficiently brightly colored to stand out:
You said that about the bear.

'Well—look, how was I supposed to know that all that brown stuff wasn't just more bear?'

There is a rock-bottomed lake where nine acres of prime forestland used to be, Joy. I'd almost understand the trees, but all that grass-covered dirt, too?

'Listen, it's not like I'll have that problem with the Rainbows! Their whole thing is that they're brightly colored!'
In fact, she actually insists that Prisms have consistent coloring.
Similarly, Joy insisted that the Rainbows always stayed the same color, yet to mortal eyes, the colors of their uniforms would seem to change depending on the colors near them. Not to blend in, as might be sensible, but to stand out; their clothes would look brighter in Curtained regions, yet somehow darker in sunlit areas.

Now. While Joy is an unreliable narrator (about her ability to be precise in targeting, most of all), this kind of consistent bright coloring in the apparently drab Shadowed Realm is probably something that will allow her to narrow down targeting to only Crimson.

Making Joy that much more (over)-confident she can chomp.

The issue ought to be about targeting the Faerie Geas sufficiently precisely to extract it from Crimson's soul without doing the kind of damage that tearing out a weed does to the soil. Well that, and identifying Geas from Crimson as two distinct chomping targets, and also getting confirmation that Crimson is not an avatar therefore the extra thing is in fact unwanted.

Joy seems to be talking about their physical colouring there, rather than souls though. And it's possible that souls don't neatly overlap with physical bodies, or that Joy isn't able to view both physical and soul at once, and so would have to identify Crimson's soul without the aid of her consistent colour.

Unlike curse, Geas is two-way street. What did she pay for with ability to spoil secrets.
