Concerns about retroactively revoking permission to use OCs in a Quest

In The Architect of Anarchy: A Cyberpunk Crafting Quest the GM Magoose has given up due to:

So... I was asked in a DM that I can't use a few characters by the request of the creator and asked that I take away all the rewards I made for them... in addition to taking out all the actions that I used that mentioned them at their request.

It would really fuck you guys if I did it... and screw up my future plans.

I will honor the request, but... I'm just getting tired of things continuing to happen in this quest and its really just making me tired of this.

Fuck this, I can't take this drama that this quest is creating anymore.

Thats all this fucking quest has ever been for the last few weeks, and its not fun anymore.

Creator of some OC's that I was using that they created for this quest.

And I can't take the stress anymore.

Thus the following concern has been summed up by this poster:
Honestly do they even have right to do it retroactively ? i know Nexusmods forbid stuff like that. I think we genuinely need mod explanation and rule clarification.

Can we please get some clarification regarding this novel form of incident?

Thank you.

I am neither a lawyer nor a staff member, but:

We have fanfic quests, which by definition use people's OCs without consent.

So I would assume that there is no problem here.

Even if it's not SV Law (tm) that you have to follow such a request, people are allowed to make them. if there's no SV Law(tm) on the matter, it's up to the QM whether or not to go with it. Since the QM mentioned he was "sick of drama" rather than "I don't want to get in trouble with the mods", it thus seems unlikely that any answer here would help his situation.

I suppose by the rules of SV, you could keep using the characters. However, interpersonally if someone asks you not to use their characters and you do, they'll probably be upset. If they had fan writing for the quest it also wouldn't be against the rules of SV for them to delete that writing.

In my opinion it seems strange to rely so much on fan content for your story in the first place. It doesn't seem like they were collaborators (meaning they both had equal say in the story) so I'm not sure why fan content became integral to the quest completing.

Out of curiosity I took a look at the thread and the QM expressed wanting to quite a couple times. To me it seems like even if this situation didn't happen, there would eventually be a final reason anyway : P

Largely because the original creators are silent on the topic. If a rightsholder were to tell an author to stop, it would be a very different situation.

In any case, this is not an SV administrative issue and we don't have much standing to officially intervene. Unofficially I will say it's a bit of a dick move to, having previously agreed to contribute characters as a third party, to very suddenly pull the plug and in such a complete way, though I do not know the full context or what discussions might have been had. Certainly as a creator myself I understand the concern with leaving characters of your own making in the hands of others, so I wouldn't say I'm unsympathetic.

e: having received some additional about this situation it would would appear this was not just some random rug pull, so I am going to retract what I said about further discussion.
