STAR WARS: The Galactic Civil War

Because a number of folk against the Prime vote, see Prime being a couple of votes behind Tarkin and it continuing to get additional votes can end up believing that voting for Tarkin is the only means of preventing Prime from winning the vote.
Which raises the question:

If a number of people decided to drop their Prime vote, are there any people voting for Tarkin that would be willing to drop their vote in turn?

I think the key to getting prime vote or tarkin vote dropped is to convince people to approval vote for an acceptable alternative to both.

Edit though in general I don't much care for the notion that getting either of those two dropped should be a thread focus.

Honestly I would rather Prime over Tarkin, but I would also rather the vulture droid over prime. I'm currently voting for both but should the vulture droid make a surge in votes I plan to drop prime. It's funny that people say they vote for tarkin to prevent prime yet only vote for his plan. If they approval voted and then towards the end dropped their less liked plan for another plan it would be easier for other plans to catch up. But oh well.

I have already told my reasons before.

I am interested in a character who is not one of the main ones of Star Wars being voted into the office of chancellor, and the prime one is the one that's the most interesting for me.

I'm just going to be watching this for the time being until something changes within the two lead plans, if both are starting to drop in vote membership to different plans then I can change or remove my vote for the prime one.

And I am interested in a character that is not for once a human because I'm tired of pesky humans leading the story.

We already had jarjar so your argument holds no ground."I find your lack of faith disturbing" i trust in magoose to make an enjoyable quest.Even if tarkin wins so yea rattling at that has no plus points i just vote for the character i like the most and sry aesthetic wise i like tarkin more *shrug* what can you do it just personal preferrence.

Edit:But if you want an alien can i give you the word of our Messias Hondo Ohnaka for Chancellor?

Damn it, I'm really disappointed I completely missed this quest until tonight. would have made a pitch for a focalors face claim with her odd eye being a prosthetic due to one of the CIS member corporations trying to kill her for representing their victims in court pro bono.

but this late? no way is it beeting a 57 vote lead.

[X] Plan A Servent of Justice
-[x] Sylvie Duclos
-[x] an eye lost in the name of duty
-[X]The Outside Bet: The Reluctant Contender
--[x] you are a relatively young lawyer who has built her career by using the laws championed by the former chancellor to fight for smaller business owners on your home world against the various megacorps. When you refused to accept a bribe to abandon a client their retaliation cost you orgional left eye while rendering your reputation for opposing corruption ironclad and drawing the attention of the sector's senator who needed to needed to expand his staff.
--[x] your candidacy for the chancellorship was a product of being in the wrong place at the right time. You came across a heated argument that had already come to blows at least twice and made the foolish decision to intervene to prevent further violence. Your success drew the eyes of a number of senators who where looking for a protest vote candidate to oppose Tarkin's candidacy... only for them to realize too late that the Tarkin's own faction found you a tolerable compromise as the man who ordered you shot is now part of the CIS's High Council and Tarkin himself approved of how you refused to let a near death experience weaken your conviction when he learned of your nomination and past.

Do you know how hard it is to find good folcors fanart that shows her eyes clearly that isn't just Furina or horny as hell? It took 20 minutes out of the last 30 just to settle on this one.

Voter myopia continues to dominate the thread it seems.

>"Oh I don't want Prime to win, he's an expy that the original creator has disowned, but I like the idea of droid chancellors!"
>Votes Tarkin instead of the actual droid chancellor that has narrative justification and can continue the spirit of the last quest.

>"Oh I don't like Tarkin! He's boring and wouldn't continue the spirit of the last quest!"
>Votes Prime, which is was literally a spite vote made to keep Tarkin from winning
>Ignores the third place vote that literally promises the spirit of the first quest in a unique manner

Adding approval votes since I don't want Prime to win.

[X] Plan: Trouble magnet Queen
[X] Plan: "Signing up for office was a bad idea."
[X] Plan: Tarkin Doctrine

Screw it:

Pros and cons of the top candidates:

Plan: Tarkin Doctrine
Candidate: Wilhuff Tarkin.

Pros:
• Capable military leader
• Backed Binks administration
• Has a lot of political contacts.

Cons:
• Represents a significant tone shift from the previous quest (from crack/serious, to serious)
• May send a bad message to the galaxy that after Binks ended a thousand years of Humanocenteic governance, the galaxy immediately went back to voting for Human chancellors - thus proving the Conferedacy right
• OTL Tarkin penned the Tarkin Doctrine and embodied the concept of 'Rule through Fear'
• Not an idealist like Binks - less radical shifts in the Republic like Droid Rights or anti-corporate laws.

Plan: The Prime Choice
Candidate: Orion Pax (Transformers Expy)

Pros:

• Droid chancellor - will effectively end any lingering questions about droid rights
• Idealist in the same manner as Jar-Jar

Cons:

• Literally just a transformers expy
• Disowned by the original creator
• Doesn't fit into the narrative beyond being a droid
• Was literally intended to be a spite vote to prevent Tarkin from winning

Plan: "Signing Up for Office Was A Bad Idea"
Candidate: VN-2035 'Venari'

Pros:
• Droid Chancellor (would effectively end any lingering questions about Droid rights in-universe)
• Has narrative and comedic justification for her involvement in the quest
• Continues the spirit of the previous quest
• Represents the changes that Jar-Jar made during his terms (direct evidence of our efforts to change the galaxy)
• Can be played entirely straight (a former slave built as disposable cannon-fodder gaining her freedom and working to prevent her old corporate masters from conquering and enslaving the galaxy at the behest of a Sith Lord), Crack (Girlfailure who put her name into the election as a dare and ended up at the top of the Republic) or a mix of both
• A Vulture Droid would be very hard to assasinate by conventional means
• Palpatine would be thrown into conniptions
• Would be significantly easier to get Bink's faction to fall-in with us (doubly so if we get him as vice-chancellor)

Cons:
• Not politically savvy (can be rectified, much like Jar-Jar's speech impediment, not a permanent malus)
• Vulture Droids are pretty big

OTL Tarkin penned the Tarkin Doctrine and embodied the concept of 'Rule through Fear'
While I am supporting the vulture droid now, I have to argue that this quest's Tarkin is a very different creature from OTL's Tarkin. Plus, we are controlling him and Magoose is writing him–it's pretty guaranteed that we'd be able to just not be a dictator if he were to win the vote.

I don't know about the others, but I vote for Tarkin because the Republic is at war. If the Republic is at peace, I would vote for Venari.

We can literally change the candidate's military competency with only the bare minimum amount of effort, Jar-Jar could barely speak Basic and didn't have a clue about being a Chancellor and look at how he turned out

We did that in a single turn

It literally just sounds like a single-issue vote to me

If you stop and think about it, this is actually a pretty weird line of reasoning. It's like saying during the forties the ideal American president would have been Patton or Nimitz because the country was at war.

If anything I would figure putting Tarkin in the Chancellor seat actually lowers the Republic's warfighting ability as instead dealing with the minutia of coordinating the military or even displaying his talents as a field officer, Tarkin's being forced to do administrative work and limited to only determining the broad strokes of military policy.

I mean, just look at the extent of Jar Jar's involvement in projects when he was Chancellor.

Exactly, he's better as a military leader than a politician, putting him as Chancellor would actually make the war worse since he'll have to juggle between military duties and chancellor responsibilities
