Valkyria Chronicles: Drums of War

Backing Ligtwhispers, anything that doesn't have at least one naval promise is a non-starter. Keep the navy at the very least ticking in the background. Other infrastructure, well we need it all so pick one and stick to it until it's done.

I think the navy is...fine, actually, they need some upgrades and more builds, but they don't need to be a focus the same way that the army needs to be dragged kicking and screaming into the modern age. I'd settle for electrifying the docks and maybe one expansion or so?

The navy issue is as always they're fine now but for a shooting war we'll need more and better ships. Which takes time. We have okay battleships but shit escorts at the moment. I'm not saying over promise on them but if we're not at least working on dockyards to start we're already falling behind.

How do dockyards work? For example going to L3, does that mean 300 progress to go from 0 to 3, or is it accumulating multiple stages (like 1 to 2 to 3)?

Anyway I think dockyards because a navy takes forever to spin up (and we'll need shipping if we're involved anywhere), army to slow start that, and probably electrification for infrastructure work.

It is 100 progress to go from 0 to 1, 200 progress to go from 1 to 2, etc. You have a number of dockyards of varying sizes and shapes. so it is smaller than demanding that you build a full scale dockyard from scratch, but either one is still a substantial investment.

I wonder if parallels to certain events of the past will happen. I remember something depicted in the series American Lawman involving a New York Cop dealing with a German terrorist cell around WW1. Not to mention in WW2 a plan to sabotage the generators of Grand Central Station with sand. Though that would be more intrigue stuff.

Probably more relevant beyond industry titans and the food industry would be things like figuring out how to more mass produce ships (in reference to that titan taking inspiration after seeing Ford's factory) to things like this large train station/port that missed ww1 but became relevant in ww2. Mostly concerning both sending out supplies and receiving the war casualties and injured. Let alone help received from the underworld groups. Plus soldiers having some knowledge in hand-to-hand due to the streets and stuff.

Mostly typed this out as the various thoughts popped into my mind and wanted to type them out. But probably won't be that relevant. Just like watching shows like Mysteries of the Abandoned. At least got enough for the train of thought to run out of steam.

But anyways, working on the navy and army would be a good ideal, so would electrifying and working on roads as those have their own benefits. Such as transportation and factories with electricity and lightbulbs. Meanwhile Ragnite is the major resource of note in the setting and the nation seems to already be a bit behind on things. There's a good reason to work on all of the options though for now I'd say prioritize army and dockyards followed by energy or ragnite and then highways. Probably lean more to energy for it's improvements to production and Quality of Life

Some rough estimates: Upgrading a T4 yard to T5 takes 27ish dice. Upgrading two yards, one T3 and one T4, to T5, takes 65-70 dice. This practically requires deals with naval yards for extra dice capacity, some sort of deal with Boss Sullivan: Grand Sachem of Tamanend Hall, or just plain outsourcing the construction efforts and paying through the nose.

I don't think we can afford to ignore either military readiness promise, but I also think we can still add some extra punch to the industrial readiness pile as well.
