[X] The exodus of ashen rust

Looks to be the most interesting to me. Battlestar Galactica in 40k, with a better ending hopefully.

[X] The heart without veins

The first two options seem too "safe" and a little uninteresting for me. Hive worlds are often depicted as some of the worst places to exist due to callous leaders and nobody knowing what the heck anything does, so why not lead as an example of what to do? Plus, I could totally see this being able to snowball into something great. Imagine a star system where every planetoid has a center of industry and the space between them being chock-full of STL ships carrying goods to feed hundreds of billions in a star system filled with trillions.

[X] The heart without veins
Characteristics: Population: yes, Titan of Industry, starvation countdown

As the Overmind burned world after world, the Federation struggled with refugees flooding entire sectors, and the industrial sector not only struck but outright revolted and fell to the Logic Plague. Thus, a hive initiative was created. Quickly build the densely populated industrial worlds to pump out basic goods needed for the war effort and to trick automated cleansing forces of the Overmind into funnels and traps.

The plan worked. Hiveworlds preserved humanity and caused many less populated worlds surrounding them to be ignored by the Overmind, but as the warp storms grow more common, one thing became clear: you must secure a food supply or make some very hard decisions.

[X] The Exodus of ashen rust

This is much interesting as we will be in the start where we don't even have a planet to rule over, the knights and hearts without gains options seem to indicate we rule over a planet. The exodus one will force us to struggle with what happened and to explore the stars to find a new home, and we don't even know where the current location of the expedition is currently at. I am going to join in as I'm interested in this quest.

As much as I want the vote I picked to win, that is actually not the case:

[X] The exodus of ashen rust

Characteristics: Greatest starting leaders, Legacy of the Federation, Refugees

The Cybernetic Revolt shall forever be known as the final nail in the coffin of the Age of Technology, but what most will forget what many will never think looking at ruins and husks of the past: Cybernetic Revolt failed, by the might of the human spirit, by the strongest of the oaths, by the sacrifices of quadrillions, by the heist most bold humanity won against the corrupted rage of its creations. Hundreds of thousands of worlds, tens of thousands of stars, and one ringworld were destroyed for a victory that no one counted as a victory.

Your people were there when Overmind was shattered; you led those who could not fight out of the encirclement and into the star across the turbulent warp. Your fleet ran as fast as it could as far as the warp drives could carry them with knowledge people would kill for. Until you found your new home, an empty world to make a new home.
unless I've come to the wrong conclusion, this option has us start in a world we've just found. One of the differences between our start and the other 2 is that we're recent arrivals and have just begun to colonise the planet whereas the other 2 are pre-established.

Heart Without Veins is tempting because I have a lot of math to say about how arcologies would work and the issues facing them, but I'm also a firm proponent of quality. Plus, in a best case scenario, this one would be most impactful to the timeline. The Knights would just be another Knight World and while the Heart might be able to contest Mars, the Exodus is the only real shot at preserving Golden Age tech and culture.
