Better use our own air power somewhere that other will not be able to reach. We have carriers, after all.

Air power against air power, a shock. New plans to be drawn up
So our fleet has 2 carriers, more than 2 destroyers and a battleship. The plan is two-pronged attack from the both side of the channel. While the Germans are stuck in the middle of the Channel, there are Italian ships down south from the Med. I think its time to kick some Italian asses.

[X] [Be dealing with any Siren ships coming from the north]
We got Ingram and a lot of bombers. Let's see what we can do to the Dreadnought.

Then it turns out to be the trap option.

I believe we were originally on course to crush Italians thinking maintaining the course on that at least for now is the best bet.

Also we are new to this fight, best opt to keep any old guard here from dealing with harassers.

Italians eh?
We will loot their rations

I think it is an error from author. DD-283 is real, a Clemson class destroyer USS Breck while Lafayette in WWII may be SS Normandie, seized then converted from ocean liner to troopship. But still, a destroyer is a destroyer, a welcoming addition to our fleet.

[X] [Joining the main force straight down the channel]

IRL, Bunker Hill was CV-17. CV-14 was USS Ticonderoga.

Bunker Hill's ship bell was given to CG-52, a Ticonderoga class guided missile cruiser.

My google fue is failing me what is USS Lafayette (DD-283)..

France needed the money and the US has a very silly plan for the fast frenchie.
It is not. Lafayette is a Le Fantasque bought from thr French in the interwar period. Specifically she's L'Audacieux.

Ship designations got moved around a bit due to some ships not getting built.

When did the French sell L'Audacieux to American? She completed in 1935 and at that time, being one of modern ships in French Navy along with her sisters.

1937 when her economy collapsed hard due to a giant communist revolution it had to put down. Not the most realistic thing in the world admittedly. But that's the fun of alternate history.

And those communists will be coming up later. They need a chance to shine somewhere, what with the revolution failing in Russia.

Huh? But the map says USSR?

Where are our cruisers btw?
Indeed it does. Read the bottom of that post. I wasn't able to remake the map properly.

As for your cruisers. You don't have any cruisers in the task group. You'll have plenty around though to help. You aren't alone no matter where you go.

... and you'll have a vote for cruisers in England.

Well, communists in France huh? That will be interesting. So the rest of French Navy is either in Royal Navy/ sold to US Navy or captured by the German which is unfortunate but we will deal with it. As for cruisers, does US Navy at this time has any that is waiting for a fleet to join or we will get one from the British?

Oh there are plenty of cruisers around, the navy just didn't assign any to this specific task group. The US Navy has been in continuous war production since 1918. You are getting an Essex that wouldn't normally be sailing until 10 months from now, and the Montana will be heading out in July.

"I found that insufficient. Humans put too much stock in things like 'safety' or 'human compatible designs'.

Behold, the Sparky Mad-Science shipgirl!

...Don't let her near the coffee machine.

"Too much smoke, and if I do that for more than a minute there's a chance of the rounds detonating in the loading mechanism… or the barrels melting. But it works well enough."

Yep, definitely Sparky. I wonder if any of her Officers are named 'Heterodyne'. :D

"Admiral, shouldn't you be stopping this?"

I take my first sip of the coffee. It's good, shame Cassin wasted Ingraham's.

Coffee first; elaborate form of suicide later.

She glided into port, past the picket ships, of which there were many, and came to a rest at dock forty-seven, just beside the USS Bunker Hill and USS Intrepid

And there's our favorite stoic blonde!

...oh, and Intrepid. Hi.

in a short amount of time I was ushered into the car, driven across the base, and deposited in front of the brick building that was CINCLANT headquarters.

you know, there is a non-zero chance I've been in this building?

He was hunched over the desk, revealing a poster of the blonde USS Constitution behind him, pointing at the viewer, calling them forth to join the Navy while grinning from ear to ear… they could never make her take things seriously.

does she have a Glorious Hat?

"Admiral Anderson Stevens?"

Keep meaning to ask, but why is Anderson referred to with his first name?

The actual CINCLANT wants to meet with me directly.

Alright.

I guess going 'fuuuuuuck' like an enlisted would is too undignified for an officer.

"Yes si-"
"Good, close the door."

I close the door sheepishly like a new ensign,

This is just what happens when you're in a room with someone who out-ranks you that much.

Effective immediately, the following vessels are hereby assigned to the command of Rear Admiral Anderson Stevens:

USS Bunker Hill (CV-14)
USS Lafayette (DD-283)
USS Texas (BB-35)

All shall fear The Owl.

Let's ease into this, why don't we?
