"Who Wants To Be The Demon King"

We should also expect the Succubus and Vampire to use some amount of PR trickery. They could claim infamous deeds they didn't actually do for themselves, or weaken competitors by confusing the stories about them.
Claiming the infamous deeds of other competitors or confusing the myths about them probably runs afoul of the "do not harm each other" rule. We're all ultimately on the same side here after all, and will have to live together in the same realm afterwards.

Claiming the infamous deeds of humans, on the other hand? That should be fair game. Two weeks in and we'll get 3 different demon sociolites claiming that Elf Bezos' business empire was actually their doing, and that they personally adviced him to deny his employees bathroom breaks in the name of productivity.

So, this is against the rules and thus not gonna happen, but the tie made me think and I want everyone to pause with me and imagine if we got to be a Vampire Gnoll. Because that just sounds super cool.
It is probably less against the rules and more impossible, given that vampires have to be human before they become demons.

Yeah Vampires can be (and will get to vote on which to be) from any Race of Man. So you'll get an additional 1-2 traits based on those races as well, if Vampire wins! But this is in place of Class traits, so no Vampire Swordsman to start off.

Yeah, if Vampire wins I'll be strongly tempted. We'll see what happens, Gnoll is in the lead right now...
The temptation cuts both ways.

Like, the Gnoll is already described as an "army unto themselves" by din of commanding every living animal. How much more terrifying would one be if we added the legions of the dead to that number?

This is of course predicated on "Necromancer" being an available Class trait, but if it is, it is definitely a tempting one.

Races of Man
I don't wanna do any super large posts going into detail on them, since having knowledge of Men and what they Do is stuff you can actually have as a trait, but I figured I'd do a brief overlook of them. They're mostly just basic D&D/JRPG player races though.

Humans

The most populace Race of Man, and the origin of the title given to them. Three Gods, including Lumesa Greatest Goddess of Light, name them as their patron race. Humans are as varied as they are in the real world, and while they lack any specific specialties, they're known for being adaptable and enduring, persevering even in harsh conditions and coming out on top. They also have a very, very high amount of priests due to so many gods watching them with interest.

Elves

The least populace Race of Man, watched over by the Green Goddesses and loved by the Summer Queen, a Fairy of near Godlike power. They live a very... very long time, but are extremely conservative on anything and everything. They were the first Race of Man to seal off their homelands from the other Races of Man, and disdain the title itself - thinking themselves above all others under it. They're renowned for their natural magical talent - every Elf is born with magical ability.

Half-Folk

Pleasant little Half-Men who live pastoral lives of happiness and disdain most hustle and bustle, living quiet peaceful lives. Likable to an almost fault, Half-Folk seem to be able to get along with everyone - and don't even mind that they're called Half-Folk by most people. They're also renowned for their ability to turn near any land into successful farmland, and to tame and raise all manner of cattle. Whilst only one Goddess graces them with her blessings, she is known for being one of the most active goddesses in terms of intercessions, a loving deity who protects her innocent flock.

Dwarves

Imagine you took a Half-Folk, you made him three times as muscular, and you stuck him in a hole, and gave him a bad attitude. You've now got a Dwarf. Dwarves are blessed by the Twin Gods of Metal and Fire, and use that blessing to create iron fortresses in their mountain homes. If they weren't so paranoid about everyone aiming to come and kill them, they would be one of the most dangerous Races of Men - but the greatest foe of the Dwarves is only themselves.

Gnomes

Imagine you mixed a Half-Folk with a Dwarf, and then took away all of the quietness of a Half-Folk and all of the Paranoia of a Dwarf. Gnomes have likely killed more Gnomes over the years since the Demon King's fall than any other source of death - even aging. All by accident. And yet they create wonders no other race can - wonders such as indoor plumbing, centralized air conditioning, and more! Just... watch out for the Spirits escaping and killing you. Their singular deity proclaims the value of innovation and learning, and is the least hands on with her people - wanting them to learn and grow on their own.

Beastfolk

Beastfolk come in dozens of varieties, but most divide them down a very simple line; predators and prey. All Beastfolk have a similar basis - they look akin to a human with bestial traits ranging from 'has a full on wolf head' to 'looks like a human with dog ears'. Beastfolk are born of the Great Forest, where the Mother Tree sprouted on the body of the Thirteen God of Light - the only one to fall in battle. Beasts in that forest simply began to change, much like those near the bodies of the Dark Gods.

Predator beastfolk are protected by the Goddess of War and the God of the Wilds, while Prey beastfolk have only a single patron God, the least amongst them all in the god of Art. While once they all lived in harmony in this Great Forest, of recent times the more powerful Predator Species have begun subjugating their weaker 'cousins'.

I want to be a social villain. All shall love us and despair.

For the record, the Son options are way behind Daughter options, so if the priority is to be social, well, Daughter of the Vampire Clan is 1 vote behind the lead right now.

Personally, I voted for the two leading options (and their Son equivalents), so I don't care who wins, but just so you're aware.

Also to note (since the similarities came up), only those who haven't seen many Beastmen before (which, tbf, is a lot of Men) will mistake a Gnoll for a Beastman.

Gnolls look like

A Hyena Beastfolk would look more like this, and this is the more bestial edge.

This is not meant to dissuade anyone; you will still be able to 'claim' Beastfolk for a time. People are extremely stupid, and Beastfolk are extremely... extremely varied. But uh. Don't expect to be a pretty hyena woman?

Gnolls are big and bestial, running on all fours is faster for them than walking on their hind legs, and they're Beasts before they're Folk, where as Beastfolk are Folk before Beasts, and tend towards similar-to-human shapes.

Accursed hyena waifu distracting from gnoll dommy mommy. If we do end up as a gnoll corrupting the Mother Tree and the predator beastfolk would be a great achievement.

Edit: Oh. Now imagining a sequel quest where we play as the next hero trying to take down the Demon Queen with the surviving candidates as the main lieutenants/leaders of the various demon factions.

Fairy, Oni, Dragonkin, Orc, Goblin shouldn't be too much trouble if we win. Maou, Vampires, Succubi would be troublemakers.

Well, if we do go with the vampire, I'd know which race choice I'll vote for at least.
Of course, it's Hyena Beastfolk lol.

I'd rather not deal with the weaknesses of being a vampire. Both sunlight weakness and holy weakness seem like major problems that are going to keep coming up. The lack of class options also means all the good stuff is front-loaded while all the other races come with class specialization mystery boxes to open next.

If we're going for a social character I'd rather go with Maou for the combo of High Ettiquette+ for infiltrating the nobility and Shadow Magic+ for stealthily removing any obstacles to our rise. Plus Maou look like elves and are unseen in human lands, so they'll just assume we're an elf unless we say otherwise.

In fairness, we do get Race stuff for one of the Races of Man instead on the Vampire. That may or may not be as good as Class stuff but saying it's front loaded because it doesn't get Class stuff is a little misleading. I suspect we'll wind up with the same or more traits as if we went Gnoll or something, but perhaps a bit less focused (since the race traits will be more wide-ranging and vampires are already kinda generalists).

The weaknesses are definitely more of an issue, though, that much is true.

To be fair, Vampires also look just like whatever species they come from, except pale.

We can always just pretend to be a nerd.

It is explicitely frontloaded though? Like, we get access to fewer non-clan traits with the Vampire Clan than we do with other Clans, which is compensated by the fact that Vampires get roughly twice the Clan Traits that other do.
