Honestly torn between this and prep for winter, but the real benefit of granary seems... kind of speculative? Like, what do we know it'll give us for sure, rather than as a maybe? Do we need those things?
It increases admin, which once we reach 125 again gives a larger bonus than anything else by far. The wording remains unclear since half of the numbers we're given replace the existing numbers whereas the other half add to them, but at worst we're guaranteed to reach the threshold in one more project.

Yes, it's "small" given that we have CoCW, but so is everything else.

Of course, knowing this thread, even when it's right there, people will refuse to vote for it for months on end, because "clay is sexy" or something silly like that. "Next month" never comes, and yrsillar doesn't let us lock in projects ahead of time like a real logistician.

That's why Shrines are probably better than granary on the short term if we haven an happiness score divisible by 10, IMHO.
Only BDSF and TOFF give +5H though. SS only has a nebulous "increase the lake's happiness/attention".

Walls also give +5H though, so if you're ignoring admin you should take them with TOFF.

Word of QM on this? Neat. I do hope we can find somewhere to get that Mystery XP or whatnot, but I'm sure we'll figure out somewhere to get it from.
Completes and transmutes Starless Shroud into a new personal art, advances Zhengui's growth. Locks in dreamwalking storyarc. +1 XP to Community, Choice, Persistence, and Protection.
Yepp. We've also yet to get the other concept XP, I suspect we'll be getting them next chapter

Edit:
[X] Plan: Preparations for Winter

Q&A stuff:

Gnarliest artifacts in each province:
yeah the sublime awakening talismans for the ones who have that. Probably Angles Everlastings manuals for the peaks. He's fan for the Fields. Probably the Eon Orb taken from the palace in the Sands
Do dragons t-pose:
If these days you can argue that Shang Tsung should have been emperor:
It is now something that can at least be discussed these days in debates between historians unless there's a bai nearby don't do that
but it was definitely death worthy throughout the second dynasty
its a pretty marginal and unpopular opinion and you won't see it outside of like hardcore academics
like maybe Meng Dan will have witnessed a scholarly slapfight like that in the blue mountain library but nowhere else in the es
Can you take an object spirit as war loot:
Depens heavily on the object spirit, many of them are incredibly loyal to their wielder or wielders legacy but there are some who are less attatched and wouldn't mind getting a new wielder, weapons in particular can be a bit uh meritocratic like that
but a loyal object spirit might just outright self terminate rather than be used by its wielders killers
Casual cultivator aura splatting mortals:
Yeah it does depend alot of way but I think the minimum for killing people in a wide area without even an emotional fluctuation to trigger it would be sovereign you might have a way lethal at like personal distances as low as cyan though though those are probably going to functionally weapons clans are keeping in storage and all presupposing the lethality comes without any any active thought or emotional instability
yes again this is very way dependant only the most dangerous and unrestrained ways would be like this
Golden Fields plan for ending the ashwalker threat:
Continue expanding the Han Oasis network and settling the desert, using long term ritual and formation grids to gradually cleanse the latent death qi and reduce the walkers spawn area
it does seem to tentatively be working so far though no one has serious plans for taking back the grave itself long term plans are to fix everything else and then just seal off the sucking sovereign killing death pit as totally as they can.
If it's possible to accidentally stumble in forbidden cultivation:
The soul qi ban is kind of tenuous and murky as befits a panicked ban slapped down after a catastrophe and it is possible to get ourself in trouble mucking about on the edge of it. Big stuff is pretty clearly disseminated though so a hypothetical Dark SUn spirit would not tell you its a dark sun spirit unless you were already of a mind to go breaking bans
Role of the prime minister:
the main role of the prime minister in the Emerald Seas is to oversee and coordinate all of the ministries, collatte their reports and advice and present it to the Duchess
Dragon god power level:
The rules of the world have changed too much to make a clear comparison, but I'd say the Dragon Gods were probably roughly equivalent to the sublimes on average but like there was a whole court worth of them and their patriarch would probably be much stronger than any one sublime.
Hypothetical shit hits the fan scenario where all Empire Whites have to work together:
Shenhua is logistics and artillery support, churning out white tier gear for any lacking places at all in the arsenal. Sun Shao, Bai Suzhen and the Guo Patriarch along with one of the Zheng whites are your frontline dps. The Empress is running command, divination and precog duty. The other Zheng white is on heals. The Jin duke is on mobility and the denial thereof through spatial and liminal shenanigans. The Xuan patriarch is probably artillery and area denial with Shenhua
If it's normal to leave behind a body when you ascend:
It is not normal, but Yao in particular had an ascension directly about splitting the physical from the liminal you know
If there are Ottomans:
Haha, no unfortunately the middle easty- part of the world is currently ruled by early dynasty persian types, most of the analogues for old world nations are from much further back than the ottomans
If the thread had voted for how Kohatu and Atamai wound up under the mountain:
She would have gone off into a trauma bend and Zhengui wouldn't have gotten nearly as much positive conversation with her which would have made the previous vote have poorer results and so on
basically I had little 'kohatu stability' and kohatu mood' thing being tracked based on your choices with you getting better outcomes based on your total score
Provincial languages:
The Xuan definitely still maintain their own language
the Bai tongue zheng tongue and the imperial tongue is more like the relation between china's 'dialects' throughout history in that they're somewhat intelligable but also not weilu and hill tribe language was somewhat intelligable and a trade tongue did exist once
the surviving hill tribes have their own languages
How much you can see the sun from the summit site:
Your well away fro polar midnight sun territories the winter days get really short but there is still a day period every twenty four hours
They have known that the further from the gate you are the more you see of the sun and this is taken to mean that reality is stronger and His blessings more bountiful in those safer lands further from the front line
the glittering city naturally exalts themselves for being willing to man the front line of the cosmic war on earth where the blessings are so few
Xiangmen is just barely visible if you get a good angle through the mountains
Fabric arts in the empire:
There is probably at least one major clan in the peaks and the ER dedicated to fabric arts. probably one among the Jin too. none of the provinces especially specialize in them though
Out of province Lu when the GF went boom:
everyone got recalled back for the grand muster so the only survivors would be like marriages into other clans and stuff and of those they fell into deep slumps of depression and cultivation damage, and sorta withered away
a few tried to crusade back into mad max land to take control, but these died
Is there a great spirit of naptime:
Prolly like a high summer avatar for a patron of rest and comfy? representing well earned recreation after a hard years work or maybe a transisitional autumn spirit
probably not a hugely influential spirit but certainly would have shrines in lotsa places especially rural area
Ran Fen's parents reaction when they heard she'd befriended a forest boy raised by beasts:
Exasperation and concern that their daughter was being reckless in seeking advantages, and might be tarnishing her reputation in exchange for short term boosts
Does the MoI know about Huisheng:
They are somewhat aware that there is a bound shade at the argent sect, but as noted they don't have any way of getting rid of it or sealing it off connection with the Jia patriarch shows it isn't inimial to empire interests anyway
Would adult male prostitutes who are presenting as male with female clients break Ling Qi's brain even harder (than adult male prostitutes with male clients)
Yeah probably, she's still not really come around to that
The Sun and the idea that the world will inevitably end one day:
He's not pissed off by it. He's known that since the moment his brother Time set causality in order.
Doesn't mean he won't extend that time as long as he can
the trade for being able to kill his enemies at all is that there will be an end some day
How the Zheng would wake the Reveller:
Not quite a stuffy ceremony, but they do gotta whack the gong in his chamber with Zhi's club while yelling at him to wake up. or so its said, the exact details of these rituals aren't shared
there's probably a liminal path to waking him too
Bai opinion on Bronze being a lower realm than iron and steel:
They did in fact throw a bit of a fit about this when it was implemented, but everyone was so tired of trying to find cultivation realm names that everyone would accept that the rest of the provinces overruled their rep at the discussions
Mortal to cultivator ratio:
yeah 1:100 roughly varying by province deadliness the number who theoretically could cultivate with an infinite resource hax on is probably more like a quarter-ish
Renxiang's dad if he saw Jiao's house:
Yeah, horrified disgusted and most of all pissed that such utter mastery has been turned to such a horrid end
Is Li Suyin aware that with every passing month she looks more and more like the Dark Queen of Necromancy and Woe:
She is not unaware of this but is in fairly deep denial about it. She's just being aesthetic you see.
Why Ling Qi's got rep 4 with the Hill tribes despite Alingge being the only member she's met:
There aren't very many of them and they are tentatively optimistic about someone with your vibe being at the left hand of the provincial heir
Xiangmen stronk:
It is in the same vague zone as any sublime or great spirit but like at the very top end of that as far as defense and endurance goes
How well regarded is the least regarded member of the Mu:
Hm, interesting queswtion.... such a distant black sheep could theoretically end up out in a provincial sect as a sort of political favor showing some favor from the seat without really investing anything serious, but even the most distant scion warrants probably at least count level if not ducal level respect just from being allowed to hold the imperial name
Shenhua opinion on Jiao:
She appears to find him very amusing. He finds her extremely uncomfortable
How worship can influence spirits:
Yeah spirits can change pretty drastically over long time scales of human interaction, you can't do huge changes in immediate terms without a lot of material trauma, but spirits attitudes and personalities change with constant engagement and they do even receive increases in cultivation depending
We need to make the southern Emerald Seas all worship Hanyi stat!

I'm pretty sure we're already on it? And the fact that she embodies the best kind of winter from most human perspectives (beautiful, and you're prepared enough to appreciate the beauty instead of dying) is probably really helpful for her popularity.

I mean, there's no precedent for yrs using anything other than increments of 5 for happiness, and that formulation makes sense when you consider that we're very specifically getting happiness from the lake's rare resource site tab, and not from the Temple's (non-existent) sub-tab in the settlement tab.

I have a question which will impact my votes for future projects. When we do vote for something that takes two months to complete, does that lock down one of our votes for the following month or would we instead be able to vote for two more things, with all three finishing apace of eachother?

It locks down one of our projects for the next month. A project longer than two months would lock in one of our slots each month until it finished

When we vote for a two months project, we have the second option locked down for the vote the following month

Edit: since orbmorb answered, I'll just add that for projects longer than 2 months (and less than 6, not that it's a factor now) the best option is to use Cai wealth to accelerate the project.
