I'm not going to weigh in on the logic of either side's arguments, but I will ask that everyone read over what they write and really consider if the words they used are polite and won't be inflammatory intentionally or not. You cant account for people's tolerances perfectly but at least try to say your piece without saying things that can be easily construed as overly dismissive of the other side of the argument, thank you.

I really hope we get to explore the way these statues depict the ancestors. Grungni's scalemail, Valaya's runestaff and Gazul's crossbow are all items I don't recall them being depicted with before in quest

    Also Valaya the Valkyrie is the version that goes out and kills stuff before they get to a karak like Gazul so in that regard the choices are kind of equal. The rune staff implies antimagic which does fit with sanctuary.

    There's also the theory that this trial is actually a rest stop for the rest and Gazul fits the next trial better than Valaya does. I don't think there's actually a wrong answer here.
     
    Something that didn't influence my choice that I've just noticed, is that Gazul is the only one in a position specifically called out as 'almost ceremonial'.

    Which makes me think of him giving a knighting (though dwarves don't exactly have that concept) or a blessing.
