My theory that Tinkatink and Drilbur must always be separated by 10 votes at all times hasn't been proven wrong yet. It's been consistent for about 20-30 votes now.

I honestly don't think Mary needs a tank. Not that having a tank would be a bad thing but I think the mindset of thinking we need certain "rolls" fulfilled isn't necessary. Besides, if we really wanted a phys tank then aggron blows garganacl out of the water in that regard and that's before the mega evolution. Sure nacli can also heal a pip of dmg but I personally don't find that very impressive. I'm assuming it'll go up to 3 pips of dmg when it becomes garganacl but even then its once a day and by that point il be embarrassed for mary if we cant afford to keep a couple of hyper potions on us by then. That and again, there's a good number of pokemon that severely outclass nalci in a medic role.

Drilbur and it's evo exadrill on the other hand, was and has stayed an extremely solid attacker with the same amount of hp as garganacl and has access to electric moves which is huge! I honestly think we'd be losing out big time if we don't take advantage on capturing such a unique mon with such amazing potential.

RAILGUN. EXCADRILL. BREAKER.

That is all, thanks. Exploit physics for fun and violence.

I've made my decision. The Nacli line has really good utility, and I really don't mind Nacli and Garganacl's designs, but Naclstack just looks like an ugly Minecraft mob to me. For this very arbitrary reason, I shall give a vote to Drilbur.

[X] Drilbur

Okay. I am extremely casual in Pokémon battling, and my career on Showdown consists of about 50/50 vs. randos and regularly clowning on my 11 year old son. But I'm really curious how on Earth Aggron is meant to be a tank with two 4x weaknesses and (talking real Pokémon here, not this quest) extremely mediocre special defense and no recovery. Mega Evolving admittedly takes care of the former and that's the main relevant Achilles Heel for this quest, but I don't really see how it blows any other defense-oriented Pokémon out of the water for defense, unless it's only fighting physical attackers that don't have Fighting or Ground coverage.

Eh you know what, I'm gonna retract this analysis specifically for Mega Aggron, because the type change and stat boosts really fix most of the problems of playing defense with it. In that sense yeah, I see the appeal as a wall. Honestly my lack of XY play experience is probably making me underestimate Megas in general. There's still the matter of getting a hypothetical Aron recruit to that point though.

All true, but have you considered it looks pretty cool?

Otherwise yeah, base Aggron is pretty mid and their bigger claim to fame back in the day (like way back) was Rock Head+ STAB Head Smash for big damage, and the Rock/Steel typing allowed it to not instantly die like Rampardos because it was so slow and at least get a couple hits in.

Mega-Aggron was a better tank because of pure steel typing and Filter, and it did run a Rest/Sleeptalk/Substitute/Dragon Tail set for maximum annoyance for a while, but even then it wasn't all that. Pretty funny though.

E: To be clear I don't think this applies to the quest, it's just Smogon meta.

I mean, if we want a meta relevant tank, we want to find an Articuno and an Alolan Ninetails. :V

I will give you the 4x weakness being rough but even non mega aggron has the ability to tank at least 1 or 2 physical ground or fighting attacks if you focus on pure def. As for special defence Gargancl doesn't have aggron beat there by much, both mons are getting ohkod by most meta special attackers in game. Lastly while aggron has no recovery options aside from rest, at least in Terasteel the sheer utility and variety aggron has access to in its arsenal via tm support more than makes up for that imo. Aggron could almost be as attack type versatile as renne but with almost unmatched versatility for status infliction and arena Hazzard setup. Nothing would come out of an encounter with them unscathed for sure

I guess what I'm trying to get at is that while aggron is cooked by gargancl in game, story rules even out the playing field big time for my gen 3 🐐

MAJOR BATTLE. Defeat will accomplish the Task but will apply Wound and Status Ailments to battling Pokemon. Defeat will still unlock Encounters
It shouldn't be an issue considering Mariana's SKILL and Roland having a level advantage, but do we still catch the Pokémon if we lose the battle?

Also wondering what the SKILL level of wild Pokémon are, do they just not add anything to Effect rolls?

We do, but we take more injuries/get less rewards for the optional task (since the actions are technically seperate but interlinked)

Btw, forget of this has already been clarified, but in the case that Drilbur wins it says that we need to feed her a lot of minerals for her to evolve. Does that mean like giving her pokemon food that's just filled with the stuff, or do we like give her sheets of metal to chew on?

It's been a wild ride in this year's TeamCompMania. Lots of ups and downs and ferocious competition, but after a lot of struggle and a brief but valiant effort by newcomer Teddiursa it seems like this year's champion is gonna come down to either Nacli or Tinkatink..

But wait.. what's happening?!
Tinka with a steel chair would be just as apt for a meme...

IF SHE WAS WINNING!!!

But I'd settle with adding a tinka seal as proof she made it.

Yes, you do still catch them.

Wild Pokemon have Effect bonus depending on their Strength multiplied by 2. So Drilbur, Aron and Pawniard will have a 1d20+2 for their Effect Rolls.

Will close Vote in 15 Hours. If ends up in a tie between Nacli and Drilbur, I'm flipping a coin to decide who wins.
