I wouldn't be surprised if that's what they were trying to replicate in the experiment.
Actually, on the subject of Renne, I wonder if her Trait will update/upgrade if she masters all of her Phantomal Potential moves.
It is Phantasmal Potential.
Its quite probable that there's a way to upgrade it. Might even be that the upgrade comes with evolution and Mastering all those low grade moves is one of her evolution requirements.

Makes sense.
We know Bond 4 is required for her Evolve, so her opening up to us about the experiments and having it relate to her clearly experiment-caused Trait would follow that line of logic perfectly.
