Friends and Bullies:
Flash Thomspon and Company: The jocks, try as they might to be cruel prankers to Parker… were always kind to you. They seemed to protect you from the many cruelties of high school life… and made you out to be one of the boys. Even if you had little desire to be one. But they were your friends, in a way. They were nice and always seemed to try to cheer you up when Marc and Home just got a little too unbearable. (You are friends with Flash Thompson and many of the sports guys at Midtown High)
When you arrived, it was almost funny to see Flash stop his showboating, and he smiled as he walked over. Much of the Football team, and Liz, his girlfriend were walking over to greet you. "There's our favorite Frenchman!" He smiled as he pushed one of the nerds that were trying to get to class, trying to avoid him. Instead, of course, they only got in his way. "How's it going John." He smiled.
Much of the team was happy to see him so happy, despite him saying your name wrong again. "Jean." you said quietly as he offered a hand. "You need any help with something tonight, me and the guys were trying to think about how we can help Marc. Planning a big ole fundraiser every game to help your little brother out."
Once again it was like seeing the twin sides of Flash Thompson. He was kind, and there was goodness in him. Hell, you even think that despite his bluster and enjoyment that he took in picking on the younger, scrawnier, and nerdy kids… like say, Peter Parker… he also had a kind spot in his heart.
"I already told you, that it's great that you think that can help, but-" You tried to not sound timid or scared, but then Sally jumped on to speak.
"Come on Jean, there is no need to be modest, everyone needs help every now and then." She then playfully punched your shoulder. "It would be nice to get that stubborn head out of the sand and just… accept that we're trying to help."
You smiled. "Thanks, but Dad has good job that will be making all the money problems look smaller, and mom is doing a lot better." You lied. There was no good job, not when Wilson Fisk was strong-arming the union into doing his bidding. And mom still can't get away from Marc.
But than a change in the wind occurred, as you saw Flashes favorite target. The only target that mattered.
Peter Parker, coming off his bike and locking it up. And boy was he not paying attention with his huge spectacles starting to fog up as he locked it into the rack, and making the combination sing as he moved.
It was 1079. Peter was as chemistry nerd and Neon and Gold were easy to see. He needed to make his combinations far harder, and not rely on the periodic table. Hell, even 5555 would have thrown some people off, because seriously, who would think he would use that?
And it was nice to see Flash smile. "Hey Parker!" He said as he and the rest of your group, yourself included, gravitated towards Puny Parker, as he was putting his textbooks into his back. "Your auntie give you that get up?"
It was a sweater vest, with a pocket protector beneath it and a shirt, along with slacks. He looked so nerdy that it almost hurt to even see. At least his shoes were normal, some old Converse sneakers from the 70s or 80s. "Cause you look like a dork."
Peter didn't say anything. "Don't you have other people to bully Flash?"
"Yeah, I do. But I always make acceptions for the boy wonder himself, Peter Parker." He gave a smile and you sighed. You didn't want to bully Peter, not today.
"Flash, can we get to class." You spoke. You wanted to rest, and you didn't want to deal with Principal Davis and his lectures again. They were boring enough. And Peter didn't seem appealing to take on today. Much as you enjoyed putting his head into the toilet.
It just didn't have the appeal today. Not after Flash was offering to help.
And the popular crowd did indeed listen. And Flash took the hint. "You got lucky Parker. Jean here's worried about his brother, and a dweeb like you would never know that feeling."
Peter didn't say anything, only running away as Flash and you both traded a glance, before walking away.
And then you all laughed, going to class.
Despite everything about this group. Their flaws and all, they were just like you.
Good people doing bad things, for reasons they don't understand.
------------------------------
Night Fall.
Good, you could finally get to work.
"Dad, I'm going out for a bit, probably with one of my friends. That going to be okay?"
Dad was tired, kicking up his feet as he watched TV. "Yeah, I'll be okay. Your mom will be home tonight… hopefully."
She hadn't left the hospital in a week again. You just hoped that she wouldn't be thrown out again.
"Thanks dad. And Dad…"
Your father smiled. "Jean, I know you think that you can't do anything right now. And that frustrates you, and I get it. But sometimes there are things we can't control. And despite us wanting to take control of our lives, we can't. But that does not mean you should give up hope." He than held a thumbs up. "Promise me, that you'll do that. Not giving up hope?"
"I promise.

You are a criminal. A phantom thief of the night.
You had a code of hurting no one. That was all.
You looked at the robes and the ring, and squeezed your hand. You had to get your mind ready.
You looked at the mirror once more and smiled. Damn you look good in these robes.
What do you look like?

----------------------------------------------
And a moment later, you swirled the ring to somewhere in New York.
Where do you go?:
[]Fisk Tower: You work for the man who would most likely be the devil himself. You were just a small fish in a big pond, but that meant you had to be careful. He didn't like failures. And one mistake might kill you. (Begin The Small Fry Arc)
[]Karnelli's: One of the Maggia family's in New York's favorite hangouts. It was a local Italian place, a quiet family-run operation that was, to the outside, a staple of Hells Kitchen, and the Italian American community. Underneath, it was a front for The Karnelli Crime family, lead by one Bruno Karnelli, heir apparent to his father's organization. He loves a good underdog, and he's a hard taskmaster too. But he's fair… at least he won't kill you if you fail. (Begin: The Maggia Arc)
[]Dave's Pawn Shop: Dave was always a friend for the local toughs and the desprate. He never asked questions about how you came about and paid cash for goods. Loved doing it too. (Start no overarching Arc, and begin normal criminal turns.)
----------------------------------
If you go to Dave's What do you do?:
(Choose 1)
[]Case A Score: You need to always be aware of your surroundings, and how things work. Modern New York is not like the Seventies, where you could break in and the cops were none the wiser because you were smart. Now you need to do everything right. (Add Linetail of where you case out)
-[]Dave's Rivals: Sure Dave has rivals, and he wants to make something clear. He's the top dog, and those fences are encroaching on his territory.
-[]Stark Industries: They have some tech that you can sell on the black market. Now if only things would be easy
-[]Oscorp: Some pharmaceutical supplies could make a profit. But Oscorp guards always shoot to kill, and that is a problem.
-[]NYPD: You are insane if you are going to steal evidence from the NYPD. But hey, might as well have a thought experiment on that
-[]Write in (Must be in New York and is subject to QM approval.)
[]Burglury: Breaking and Entering is such an ugly word, but sometimes, you need to be quick, quiet, and efficient. And the tools of the trade will be stealth and efficiency.
[]Magic the Gathering: Well time to practice with your magical powers.
[]Pickpocketing: You always love the classics. Just be nice, and clean, and target people who won't recognize your face. It's not lucrative, and is it damn dangerous? Yes. But sometimes you have to get into the ground and do things. People notice.
[]To Launder money: You never made enough money to actually need to launder. Just place it in an envelope and it would be enough. But you're no fool. You are going to have to be more successful. And so that no one can get suspicious if you start showing up with cash.
AN: Enjoy.
