You are a cloud of dust (Riot? Quest)

welp, guess we aint capturing the actinide-rich cloud. since from my understanding that would require 6 people vote for it now, since we have 3 higher/lower.

[X] Collapse

Instead I shall collapse us until we become a black hole sucking in all to our orbit. We shall make a special species that lives on the black hole. Who needs carefully balanced stuff for life when you can just get all of everything :p.

[X] Move to a higher orbit

Ice and gas call to me.

Why do you guys wanna go lower?
The upper orbits are where the gas giants live, the lower orbits are where the terrestrial planets live. I want to be terrestrial, so lower. We have no real basis for one direction or another anyway, just that going higher might make us unable to keep liquid water.

We've had a freedom of movement so far, we're not forced to stay where gas giants reside.

We do have a basis for going higher, getting lighter gases than carbon dioxide and ice/water. As far as I know we have zero ice/water at the moment along with zero gases lighter than carbon dioxide.

Staying in higher orbit probably does mean any ice collected will stay as ice. However we do not have to stay at higher orbit.

@6 ZeV Proton to be clear if we vote "[ ] Move to capture the actinide-rich cloud" and it wins over the move votes then we won't move higher or lower?

A successful vote to capture the actinide-rich cloud will indeed keep your orbit from getting higher or lower.

Turn 4: You are a sphere of spicy molten rock and metal with a disk of dust and gas
[X] Move to capture the actinide-rich cloud: 66.7%
[X] Move to a lower orbit: 16.7%
[X] Collapse: 16.7%

Concordance: 80.2%

Even as you continue collapsing and incorporating the cloud of material you've gathered into your growing core, you fine-tune your orbit with great care and manage to arrange a rendezvous with the spicy dust cloud. Hardly an astronomical blink passes before the cloud of hot dust streams right into the disk of material orbiting you, ejecting a tiny bit of less choice dust as you capture it exactly as planned. This tasty snack will surely ensure your core remains hot for a long time to come.

You make a neat amount of progress collapsing thanks to the remarkable Concordance displayed recently, and nearly half of the material in your disc has now been incorporated into your core. It seems to have differentiated nicely, locking a lot of the precious metals safely away where the sun doesn't shine. Any possibility of celebrating this is interrupted when you discover a ravenous little planetesimal probably flung down from a higher orbit happily gobbling up what dust remains in your belt and what gas it can keep a grip on. Given the mass disparity between the two of you, you could probably arrange a close approach and break it up or at least remove a lot of its material, but this would be a delicate operation where failure entails a messy violent collision. Of course, you could always just ignore it and continue incorporating what you can; you've got a good stockpile of dust already, volatiles are constantly offgassing from your core as it continues forming, and maybe the visitor will get captured by something else as it swings around up there. Alternatively, you could try to move to a different orbit again, whether to increase the concentration of gases or solids, and aside from all that, there's always the option of looking for something interesting or committing to your current composition and collapsing.

[ ] Collect more gas
[ ] Collect more dust
[ ] Move to a higher orbit
[ ] Move to a lower orbit
[ ] Intercept the visiting planetesimal
[ ] Collapse
[ ] Look around in more detail (Specify target(s))

We might be able to have life without water, but it was stated that the ice was in a higher orbit.
Eh the issue was that we might pick up too much ice

Before the moon, my plan was just to move into lower orbit and let asteroids and comets hit us and bring their ice over, but yeah getting ice is a good idea so long as everyone doesn't vote for it and results in too much
