[X] [Cyberlimb] The Model 6b, the straightforward option. Effects: None (3200eb)
I mean, I've got two thoughts on this:Ok, so our options look like this:
-Flat arm: no bonus / leave us with 12 950 ed
-Mech arm: -1 emp but more versatility / leave us with 12 350 ed
-Silver arm: +1 emp / leave us with 11 150 ed
I'm torn between the flat arm and the silver arm ...
Yes, the silver arm give us more empathy but eat a lot into our savings...
The answer is likely going to be Soviet cyberware, where it's less a limb and more a hydraulic vice. It's cheap and does the job, but it doesn't even link up properly to modern interfaces. It's a thing. How bad would a role have to be to give us something that loses out to the combo of boring, pricey and useless?
I point you back to my aside that the 6b also sucks from a narrative standpoint due to just walking back on losing the arm as much as possible by looking like a normal arm and I can think of little worse than trying to brush a plot thread under the rug. Like, I'm not keen on losing Empathy, but I'd still rather take the Comet Z because at least it's attached to something. I'd take probably everything over getting a prosthetic that does it's best to be narratively invisible because that's worse to me than just about any mechanical debuff. If I was a purely mechanical voter than sure, +1 to one of Yuuki's stats isn't exactly the worst option.
However I am not a purely mechanical voter so I'm not interested in what is a shallow copy of Johnny Silverhand's arm. One of the repeated threads thus far in the quest is about the girls finding their own way through life outside of the umbrella that DA and the Lycoris organization. Now sure, Johnny Silverhand is neither of those things. He's a rocker and a loud anti-corp rebel and maybe if we wanted Yuuki to lean into those things than I could see why going for it might be desirable.
That said I don't really see Yuuki as the kind of person who walks right into a Corpo lobby and starts blasting, so narratively I don't really think it's a good fit for her and just going for it for mechanical reasons is personally boring to me. So the standard arm it is unless we want to start lobbying for no option.
I mean yeah, I am fixating on it because it's a deal breaker for me. I am, after all, the only one who can express my own preferences and my preference is not a cosplay Johnny Silverhand.Honestly, the whole Silverhand thing kinda strikes me as picking one thing to overfixate on.
I also prefer Yuuki doing her own thing and not trying to be Johnny, and like I said before:I mean yeah, I am fixating on it because it's a deal breaker for me. I am, after all, the only one who can express my own preferences and my preference is not a cosplay Johnny Silverhand.
Though not picking one here and seeing selection from other ripperdoc would be fine with me, though I don't see that option gaining traction.I also prefer an arm that looks like a regular arm. Will make it having some great cyberware a surprise for anyone.
I mean, I've got two thoughts on this:
1) It's not like the flat arm is cheap. Actually, given how utterly lackluster it is, both in terms of gameplay and the narrative of just walking back on losing a limb as much as possible with its looks, it's kind of disgustingly overpriced in a narrative sense. Heck, it's even noted to have a hefty price in the text.
2) Do we have any reason to take the flat option before checking in to see what La Peste can offer us? Like, yeah sure, my first gut instinct was against it because the RNG is a milstone around that kind of option, but that was under the assumption we go with one of the arms that actually does something. How bad would a role have to be to give us something that loses out to the combo of boring, pricey and useless?

Um huh, I think the vote broke. Didn't even know that could happen lol. I'll try pressing buttons till it works.
If true, then jeez, another tied vote. Well, maybe you could ask the others on their opinion of this. Hopefully this vote thing gets fixed somehow.
