Well that could've been really bad. As is we get a scene of seeming incompetence to deal with which is... neat I suppose.
It could be, we don't really know how well funded or equipped this PSC, but even if it was, it is important to remember there is no such thing as "bulletproof", only "bullet resistant". There is also the option of just sneaking close and shooting, say, through the open backdoors. Actually, hang on...I just had a thought, These are Private security guys, right? Wouldn't the windshield be bulletproof if its a corp vehicle?

Towa 14 Police: The standard-issue service pistol given to Japanese police and armed forces. It is a caseless machine pistol with surprising accuracy even at longer ranges, making it perfect for Lycoris on the field.
Yeah um, that was a total mess-up on my part in the first fight. I just let it slide, but it is Piercing 0 moving on, it is just an auto-pistol meant for Lycoris patrols. Also EGO Security is just basically goons-for-hire: they'll hire anybody who can avoid not shooting themselves in the foot while also working on a shoestring budget. They're corporate grunts for the most part, with contract anonymity being their main deal. Given from what you've seen, they're not wearing anything even remotely protective, only utility belts for ammo pouches and the like.In combat, the combat info says that our Towa's have 'Piercing 1', but the gun stats in our inventory say that they don't:
They totally owe us for this.
Right, should clarify you don't have to worry about medical bills regardless of location, I'll add a note. They totally owe you medical comp and maybe even some coverage to whatever you get to chrome it up.
Ooof, not a good start for Yuuki. Mitsu on the other hand...Your shots landed through and slammed into the driver's seat, but your accurate hits unfortunately didn't hit anything vital, it would seem when they just ducked back down. You grunted and slammed into the front of the car, the bumper bending slightly from the impact of your slam. Your target hadn't even seen winded in any capacity- perhaps they had installed some cyberware reinforcements beneath the skin. Or they were just that determined to grit their teeth and push on through.
Meanwhile your partner blurred and vanished the moment you fired your pistol, her own cyberware activating to accelerate her bodily processes. Before the one in the back of the van could even stick their head out to see what the commotion was about, Mitsu was there, teeth bared just like the blade she slammed through the mercenary's chest with her entire body behind the thrust. There was a gargled scream and they tumbled backwards into the van along with Mitsu using the momentum to roll into the vehicle. It would serve as half-decent cover against the now-alerted EGO Security personnel.
How quickly the tide turns. Then there was a loud clank and your head swiveled to see the turrets in the front garden of the VIP abode suddenly turn and open fire on the shocked bodyguards, forcing them away from their established vantage point. As if that wasn't bad enough, whatever the EGO leader had been screaming at his reserves had apparently worked when a third van pulled out to reveal out a fresh squad to reinforce the remnants. You watched in horror when they shouted to resume the assault.
(Shinohara Security: 63 -10 (Time) = 53)
Then the van, still filled with operatives trying to climb out, detonated in a great fireball when an AV with familiar markings swerved overhead, the rotary gun on its side smoking. "This is Shinohara Securities!" You heard Azumi roar over loudspeaker and your heart soared. "Lay down your arms and surrender, or die!"
Where did this Adam Smasher Junior come off?You let out a frustrated shout when you realized your bullets pinged uselessly off the immaculate skin. "He's a borg?!"
Almost to confirm, the rotary minigun revved up and began to spit out rounds in a large arc. It cut down swathes of EGO operatives, but the leader was completely unfazed and let the rounds wash over them, only burning off clothing and nothing else. Then one of his arms extend out into a small cannon-
Your eyes bulged and you screamed at your partner. "OUT!"
...Oh no.Then you spotted a familiar arm next to you and your hand quickly shot out to feel it. No pulse. Your eyes widened and your breath quickened in panic. "Mitsu? Mitsu?!" You screamed, wondering if you had just gotten your partner killed.
There was a cough and your head swiveled the other way to see your partner looking definitely worst for wear, but mostly whole pushing herself off the ground. She looked up to you and you felt relief at her soot-covered face marred with concern. She's okay...but wait.
Whose arm am I holding then?
You glanced back and realized why the limb had looked familiar.
It was yours.
Can you open the mechanics behind the scenes a little bit here, why wasn't 105 vs. 77 enough to kill this guy?(Towa 14 (Piercing 0): 73 +10 (Reflex) +12 (Rank 6 Pistol) +10 (Short Range) -10 (Low Cover) +10 (Surprise) = 105)
(EGO Driver (Armor 0): 91 +0 (EGO) -0 (Armor) -14 (Hit) = 77)
While he did have an amazing Body check roll to basically feel no pain, the more critical thing is that pistols are ammo-efficient, but don't have much actual killing power. As it is currently, a major hit resulting in a -14 to the Body Check on this target translates into a 64% chance of a deliberating/critical injury, but it also means that they have a 36% chance of powering through it. I'll note that he rolled exactly in the 11% upper roll to ignore the injury- had it been two numbers lower, he'd still be up, but having a penalty to his next Body check if shot again. Can you open the mechanics behind the scenes a little bit here, why wasn't 105 vs. 77 enough to kill this guy?
Do you have a specific system for these thresholds, or is this something you yourself cooked up?While he did have an amazing Body check roll to basically feel no pain, the more critical thing is that pistols are ammo-efficient, but don't have much actual killing power. Keeping in mind that for these lads, all you needed was one injury to kill them instantly. So yeah, just really bad rolls on your part with good ones on their part.
Just a flat <25 being a major failure, 26-50 being a fail, 51-75 being a success, and a 76+ being a major success. Nat 1s are automatic critical fails and nat 100s are always critical success. Higher raw dice roll is better.Do you have a specific system for these thresholds, or is this something you yourself cooked up?
I can only assume it's because you had the van explode. I think at this point Yuuki might just be cursed when explosions are involved.- I'm genuinely at a loss of words. Your rolls were just consistently terrible, then they hit you with a crit 100.
I'll tone them down.On a different topic, as someone that occassionally visits the site on mobile, @Icipall could you do me the favour and cut down on the unspoiled videos and reaction gifs each time a new update hits?
