Yes, this admittedly isn't great from the perspective of a full out Nova, but we're not always going to have the luxury of spending 400+ Orthstirr in a fight.

Getting a universal +3 dice to all of our attacks is a big deal for our Orthficiency.

With free reflexive shapeshifting from our Hamr now, I think locking in something that is useful both in and out of combat is a great idea. Speed is a useful combat measure but Halla's Speed has also come up in non combat checks. With our runes I think this would put us at 12 Speed? And free us up to put our shifts into basic attack/defense as neccessary, without ever being lower Speed than others


I'm willing to spend a lot on these crafts because I think they're genuinely extremely useful, if only for freeing us up to make other shapeshift decisions tactically.



Edit: Basically, I think Speed is always a necessity, whether we are going hard novas to win impossible fights or being efficient. By locking in the speed now, we can further adjust from if we need more power for a big hit, (the new hamr roll bonus one), more efficiency (the basic boost ones alectai is going for) more awareness and senses (for out of combat) or what not, without ever needing to worry about it making us too slow.

I mean, let's be fair, while Stacking Speed is nice, there's a lot of ways to just ignore it.

I know you hate Basics with the fire of a thousand suns, but that doesn't mean they're bad, and this is basically giving +3 dice to all of our Basics, forever.

I don't realistically think we ever want to be less than Speed 5-6. It's not about me disliking Basics, it's about us being able to do this with our normal slots if we don't need them on anything else, being able to actually be modular with our shapeshifts not have them stuck on bonus dice (which is an efficiency boost only) even on turns where we don't care about efficiency.

Like, on a turn where we make 6 attacks and 3 defenses the bonus dice save us 18 Orthstirr...and that's it. That's the entire effect. On a turn where we make two attacks and no rolled defenses it saves us 2 Orthstirr. We don't always need it. There are turns where we need it, but that's what our actual slots are for.

This are the Shapeshifts we currently know abaout. I don't know if others exist and we simply don't know abaout them.

I am tempted by Ambidextrous Hands and Supported Grip, since i think dual wielding Sagaseeker and our other weapons would be really cool.

By the way Imperial Fister, a quick question. Can we in the thread invent a Shapeshift? Like we describe the effects and give it a name? Of course you would be the one to approve the idea, so we don't come up with overpowered stuff. But we are basicaly already doing similar stuff every time we forge a magical item anyway.

Remember, the shapeshifts we're buying are permanent. We don't need a free hand every round, so we shouldn't get it with shapecrafting, but with our shapeshifts (which we can change every round). Right now we have 5 shapeshifts in speed most of the time, if we buy 5 Speed with shapecrafting, we can then use those for things like this situationally.
 
Thickened Skin lost some of its value to me when we learned Steel ignores DR. Might be better to get him some other shapeshift and let him thicken his skin by choice when he knows he isn't facing an enemy with Steel.

1920 silver has no value to me outside of what it does for us. Even with the plan above we will have almost 2k left over. Though I'm acrually editing my plan to be:

Should we perhaps switch one of the high twitch muscles to sharpened senses, since iirc we still need that to offset our nearsighted, right? so we'll likely not take that one away ever either.

Abjorn gets doubled effects from Thickened Skin, it's what we should be getting him. We can get our man to DR 20+, which is great. Steel is not sufficiently common to be a reason not to get him 10 more DR.

Target-Tracking Eye also does that, and which we want is gonna vary, so I think not.

By the way, do we offer Shapecrafting to our retainers too? Maybe just 1 each?

Stigmar is here and he's willing to do it if it means he's better at his job. The others are a bit more iffy.

Alright cool. Added stigmar to my plan (with +4 Speed...he's Halla's shield, he should be better at keeping up, probably)

@alexthealright I have edited the plan, so to consolidate you need to fiddle as well. Or maybe rename if you want to stick with not buffing Stigmar.

We're already pushing abjorn into something he's not super comfortable with, i'd rather he at least get to choose *how* he's getting his body changed permanently by an external power. Same for stigmar, if with less "i already feel like abjorn doesn't get enough agency..." added in

I think it's just the fact that most people are a little concerned about letting a mad scientist monkey around with their body.
