It basically just makes us money when we sell the whetsone at Heredby.

I dunno what's a fair rate for them, is the thing. We've never bought them.

Also, what's the blood thing again?

So, we have discovered there is another Hamr thing that the Norse can do...the knock-off version involves an Alloy slot, consuming some blood from a powerful creature, a shapeshift slot, and a Rewrite, and it allows for things like Logi being partially made of fire. We're pretty sure that there's an Odr-Infusion based version that doesn't require those slots, just the blood, but details are unclear.

I mean he does not seem to be in a mood to screw us over something so minor, so "Jurgdby market rate", seems fine?

Interesting.

Feels like learning the pitfalls of the next stage up in Odr cultivation might be more crucial? But if we can't ask for that then fair enough I guess.

Not knowing amounts is weird, but sure, something like this:

[X] Charge him 1600 oz. of silver and 400 oz of silver worth of whetstone (at Jurgdby market rates) for 950 units of Healing Clay and 50 of Restful Clay, along with his advice on the next step of our Odr Cultivation journey
[X] Make sure to tell him the context in which we discovered the Drysalt/Dorri connection (our father's murder).
[X] Head to the Shapecrafter's den

Hopefully that works.

I also think we might want to add a second layer of pretext, the obvious one that we can let 'Leak' later on to soothe their paranoia of there being a blank spot at an important time.

I'm thinking "Hey, I'm planning on giving Eric the option to get a bit of a boost, but he's sworn to your warband, are you okay with that? Is that going to cause problems down the line?" Kind of thing, which is the kind of Sensitive Information we wouldn't want getting out anyway.

Im rarely active in the thread, but I just wanted to comment so I can praise Imperial Fister's writing. This is probably my favorite ongoing quest and between Halla and the world building this story has become my favorite, overtaking Eragon and Red Rising.

Also on another note, can we include in the our asking price for the clay a request for the Jarl to tell us how Lidrun managed to eavesdrop on us despite our efforts to prevent it? Or a request for general advice?
Edit: My reasoning is that access to a Jarl who weve just offered some vital information is probably a rarety, and Halla(the questers) tends to enjoy grilling just about everyone she can for info whenever she has a chance.

We knew skalds could do this already...it's probably a Twist (since skalds can make those). Getting advice on how to prevent it is a reasonable alternative, but I think we probably want cultivation advice.
