After accidentally grabbing Hoopa instead of Pikachu, The infamous Team Rocket Trio (plus that one Jigglypuff) find themselves shunted into a whole new universe. The universe of Cartoon Network Villains Victorious. Play as Meowth as he reluctantly allows himself to work under a new boss to make ends meet, learn about this new location and hopefully find Jessie and James...
You were Jessie, and It was yet another scheme to capture Pikachu that set everything into motion.
You were currently in Kalos, in some desert like town. None of the three of you had bothered to learn the name. Well, James had tried to, but you yelled at him about it not being important.
You kind of regretted it now…
Regardless, things were actually going pretty smoothly. You had opened a spa while disguised and the twerps fell for it hook line and sinker, as they often did. In hindsight, it was almost comical how uncritical they were of such events after being tricked so many times.
Anyways, you had put them all to sleep with some old recordings of that feisty Jigglypuff that used to follow you around That Meowth had. You briefly considered asking him why he had that, but you decided he would probably be a wise guy about it and you didn't want to ruin your good mood.
"This is great! We have Pikachu! Nothing could go wrong!" James cheered.
"Ugh, don't jinx it…" Meowth grunted.
"Relax, My feline friend. We finally have Pikachu and can't possibly-" James started.
"Huh? Wha? I'm not Pikachu…" A drowsy voice said in their minds.
The trio looked into the covered box they had to see:
"D-Don't look at me! I thought Meowth was doing it!"
"Don't'cha put dis blunder on me, palsy! I asked Wobbuffet to do it!"
"Wobbuffet!? Wob Wobbuffet wobbbb!"
The close eyed blue creature in turn points to… Was that a Jigglypuff? Said Jigglypuff smiled and pulled out a familiar microphone looking pen.
"Oh no." You sighed.
The Jigglypuff began singing, leaving you all drowsy. And you didn't mean the Hypno pre-eveloution! This included the weird ring covered Pokemon you accidentally captured, which had somehow escaped it's box. It fell down and dropped a ring… right under the feet of the Jigglypuff, which it fell into screaming. You immediately leaned over in worry. That pink punk annoyed you, but you didn't want it DEAD! You were a little disoriented to see it seemed to be… a portal in the sky? Huh?
Meowth and James eventually joined you, leaning in. Unfortunately, Wobbuffet chose to do the same… but his extra weight unexpectedly on your backs threw you off and the 4 of you fell in with yelps, that turned into full blown screams as you fell dozens of feet.
"LOOKS LIKE TEAM ROCKET'S BLASTING OFF AGAINNNNN!"
When the 4 of you hit the ground, you passed out.
Xxx
You were Meowth And When you awoke, your two main teammates were gone. You had left Gourgeist and Inkay at a nearby Pokemon center for a day off, so they were presumably safe at least.
You weren't completely alone. Wobbuffet, ever dutiful despite his loud and annoying nature, was protectively watching over you. You felt a pang of regret for all the times you got annoyed at him. That Darn Jigglypuff was also nearby, still passed out. It clearly wasn't as used to falls as you were.
You searched for your friends, Wobbuffet carrying his fellow Pokemon. You were in some forest, it appeared. You ultimately found nothing.
That was 2 months ago. You weren't sure where you were, but one thing was for sure:
You weren't in ANY region you knew. This place was insane!
Superheroes, entire communities of talking Pokemon (er, animals) that walked upright and were much more humanlike than you, living imaginary friends, Monsters evolved from nanotechnology!? It was a madhouse.
After 2 months of gathering information and going in and out of homeless shelters ahd public libraries, you came to a realization:
You needed a job. You felt like you were betraying your beloved boss Giovanni, but you had to get by somehow. Jigglypuff and Wobbuffet (who had thankfully stuck by you) were making a decent amount of by performing in the city square (Jigglypuff was estatic the people here were so hopped up on coffee and desperation to not be late they DIDN'T fall asleep for once), but that was drying up between people getting used to them and police occasionally bugging them for loitering.
So, you went to the wanted ads….
You decide to pick:
(This vote decides which King or Prince you work for initially. You are also given a starting Hero Unit - called Party Members here since you yourself are technically a Hero Unit for whoever you decide to work for - based on who you pick).
[] Research and Development Employee - ScamCo/Eddy (Ed Edd n' Eddy) - Starting Party Member: Ed (Ed Edd n' Eddy)
Pros: -As long as you don't affect his bottom line, he won't expect much from you
-Ed will happily assist you with things... should probably leave him on more strength based activities though.
Cons: -You won't get paid much
-Eddy will steal any inventions you come up with and market them as his own
[] Mailroom Employee - Enormocorp/Foghorn Leghorn (The Looney Tunes Show) - Starting Party Member: Carol the Secretary (The Looney Tunes Show)
Pros: -He's a very giving and kind boss; you'll be treated well and paid handsomely
-He will be the most willing to show you around this crazy new world.
Cons: -He's VERY eccentric, to the point he could easily sink the company on a complete whim if not watched carefully.
-You have to occasionally deal with Daffy Duck
[] Research Assistant - Mandark Inc./ Hoagie P. Williams AKA Numbuh 2 (Codename: Kids Next Door) - Starting Party Member: Chloe Park (We Bare Bears)
Pros: -He'll be very hands off with you as long as you don't get him into trouble with Mandark
-He'll happily let you use his tech if you ask.
Cons: -You'll have to deal with Mandark's Think Tank shenanigans
-He is allowed to test any inventions on you.
Pros: -Argit will probably introduce you to very useful alien technology… for a price.
-Argit will give you an in to Undertown and other Alien communities, which will probably be much more accepting of you and your friends than those above ground.
Cons: -... It's Argit, dude is totally gonna betray you at some point.
-In general, considering how many people are gunning for Argit, the job is pretty dangerous
[] General Labarorer - Endsville Energy Company/Mandy (The Grim Adventures of Billy & Mandy) - Starting Party Member: Grim (The Grim Adventures of Billy & Mandy)
Pros: -You will probably be introduced to the supernatural and magic pretty quickly, which can definitely open some interesting opportunities.
-You will technically be immortal, as if you die Grim will probably resurrect you (no one gets a break, even via death, without Mandy's say so after all). Eventually. Depends on how sour he's feeling that day.
Cons: -Mandy is absolutely terrifying and will not tolerate even the slightest implications of dissent.
-In general you have much less freedom due to Mandy's desire for control.
[] Island Caretaker - Private Island/Dr. Kamikazi (Robotboy) - Starting Party Member: Constantine (Robotboy)
Pros: -You have very little danger to worry about unless you get more directly involved in helping the "good" doctor, considering you'd be working on an island in the middle of the ocean.
-You might be rewarded with some interesting technology if you work hard enough and prove your loyalty.
Cons: -Dr. Kamikazi has a short temper and will not hesitate to take his anger out on you if given the chance.
-You are somewhere near Japan, so you are close to Aku's
territory. BE CAREFUL.
Regardless of which you pick, you can guess one thing:
Meowth character sheet: Meowth, that's right! It's you, the one and only talking favorite talking power on from Team Rocket!
Martial 6 (As much as hate to admit it, you aren't actually a Pokémon powerhouse, you slacked quite a bit in your training in your youth.)
Diplomacy: 19 (once people can accept the fact that you are a talking Pokémon you are able to hold quite good conversations with them. There's a reason you are the most sane of the Trio.)
Stewardship: 20 (All this time you've been the one responsible of handling the finances of your team, and you had to make do with so little for so long you are good at it.)
Intrigue: 22 (as fitting of a Meowth you are quite sneaky, your Rocket training alongside the misadventure your team had has made you quite good at subterfuge.)
Learning 16: (You managed to teach yourself how to read and write like a human, and while not having proper education you have managed to pick up bits here and there of knowledge.)
Occult: 2 (You know magic exists…that's about it)
Traits:
Self taught Engineer: +20 to all engineering rolls where you build or work with a machine or invention.
Master of Disguise: +10 to all intrigue rolls where you infiltrate a place or do sabotage against someone.
Combat PragMeowthist: when Meowth faces someone in combat, he will roll an intrigue roll against the opponent intrigue, if Meowth succeeds, he adds half his intrigue to all combat rolls until the encounter is over.
Meowth's Nine lives: if Meowth is defeated in combat, a straight D100 is rolled, with a DC of 90, if roll is passed, Meoth managed to get back up, and next combat roll he does gets a +25 bonus. Meowth is just that stubborn to quit when he reall
y sets his mind to it.
Martial: 16 (Wobbuffet literally can't physically attack unless attacked first, and Jigglypuff is more concerned with singing that battling. Nonetheless, the duo are pretty durable)
Stewardship: 5 (Neither is very money savvy, being regular Pokemon and all)
Diplomacy: 6 (Both have eccentricities that can make them rather draining to be around)
Intrigue: 6 (Jigglypuff has a tendency to pop up in the most unexpected places, but is also a big showboat. And Wobbuffet... Let's not touch that one)
Learning: 10 (Jigglypuff can be surprisingly clever at times if she really wants. Wobbuffet.. he tries his best at least.)
Occult: 4 (Jigglypuff seems to have an almost supernatural ability to put almost anyone to sleep with her singing, and Wobbuffet technically has Psychic abilities. That said, neither is exactly a magic expert, or even all that aware of it)
Traits:
Mirror Coat and Reflect: Wobbuffet can throw back almost any physical attack! (If an opponent physically attacks Wobbuffet, they must roll a DC 30 Martial Roll. If they fail, they are damaged as their own attack is launched back at them)
Jigglypuff's Ballad: Despite her best efforts, very few can stay awake for a full Jigglypuff original song. (When Jigglypuff sings, roll a D10. On a 1-5, everyone who can hear it falls asleep, or at the very least gets rather drowsy)
Jigglypuff's Rage: When people *do* fall asleep, she gets angry! (Jigglypuff gets a +5 To Martial to attack anyone who has fallen asleep during one of her performances)
The boss' long suffering but ever loyal secretary. Has been assigned to show you the ropes.
Martial: 5 (Carol is a regular 20 something woman with no combat training)
Diplomacy: 17 (Carol has to keep her boss in line, and for the most part has succeeded well enough he actively keeps her around Despite vocally finding her somewhat annoying)
Stewardship: 18 (She handles some of the finances and general management)
Intrigue: 19 (Carol is a notorious gossip and snitch, often managing to find
things out with surprising ease)
Learning: 10 (She's fairly intelligent, but she's no super genius)
Traits:
Break It Up: Working for someone as eccentric as Foghorn has given Carol some serious skill in corralling people. (+5 Diplomacy to get bizarre people to calm down or rethink things)
Carol, Always Ruining our Fun: Carol is a notorious snitch. (+5 Intrigue to discover secrets or generally hidden information in service of revealing it)
Kept Around for A Reason: Despite actively finding her annoying, there's a dang
Good reason Foghorn refuses to fire Carol. (If Carol fails an Action, roll a D20. On a 11-20, Carol can add half her Stewardship to a reoll.)
Very nice! Was not expecting Meowth to be the PC when you mentioned this on Discord but I am here for it!
[] Mailroom Employee - Enormocorp/Foghorn Leghorn (The Looney Tunes Show) - Starting Party Member: Carol the Secretary (The Looney Tunes Show)
I like Foghorn, and to be honest a few of the other bosses scare me more than a little. I definitely ain't going for anywhere near Mandy or Aku that's for sure!
Remember--we shouldn't vote for the best choice, we should vote for the best story, and "Jessie and James become alien mercenaries/scammers" is absolutely the best story.

That's... surprisingly good. We're certainly not winning any fisticuffs or wizard duels anytime soon, but the rest is solid. We're not built for fights, but with this stat spread we can avoid them far easier.
That's a 10% chance for a revive and a +25. Ideally we'll never use this, but if we do it'll be nice to have.
So Meowth is, build-wise, a machine-focused builder and infiltrator, with above average non-combat stats, and while capable of combat via PragMeowthist, should stay out of it, and instead stick to sneaking around or creating machines instead.
I like it, it's certainly not built for combat, but it's well rounded enough to do most other things decently, and starting with a tech-guy is always handy.

That's... not so impressive. Meowth can cover a good chunk of their issues, and they cover him well enough, but that over-all stat total is rather low, and apparently Wobbuffet can't attack on his own. What about the trai-
Mirror Coat and Reflect: Wobbuffet can throw back almost any physical attack! (If an opponent physically attacks Wobbuffet, they must roll a DC 30 Martial Roll. If they fail, they are damaged as their own attack is launched back at them)
Oh. Wow. That is... VERY strong to start out with. 30 Martial DC is no joke, and straight up reflecting it?! It'll likely be less helpful later on, as stats go up and people learn what Wobuffet is all about, but both for starting out and against numerous weak opponents that is WILD. You go Wobbuffet.
Jigglypuff's Ballad: Despite her best efforts, very few can stay awake for a full Jigglypuff original song. (When Jigglypuff sings, roll a D10. On a 1-5, everyone who can hear it falls asleep, or at the very least gets rather drowsy)
A 50% chance to either sleep or at least weaken everyone is worth the shot at least, but also somewhat unreliable. It's certainly good, however, thanks to:
Jigglypuff's Rage: When people *do* fall asleep, she gets angry! (Jigglypuff gets a +5 To Martial to attack anyone who has fallen asleep during one of her performances)
Getting a +5 martial bonus on top of the sleep effect is what pushes this over to outright good, if unreliable, if you ask me.
Jigglypuff is certainly decent with a group sleep with 50% chance, but Wobuffet is the real star of the show for early game. If people can't reliably roll over 30 martial he's basically untouchable, and without people knowing about Wobuffet here he'll get away with being a meat shield alot. Very good for early game, and synergise well with Meowth without being reliant on him.
I'm liking our current setup. We're certainly not going to be throwing down with most enemies anytime soon, but Meowth can get us built up while W&J can act as a safety buffer and taking the few Martial tasks we'll need. Only thing really bad here is occult, but we can do without it for now.
