Empathetic: upon meeting an NPC, learn their motivation!
Legendary Commander: Gain 4 Command sparks at the beginning of each mission/combat. Command sparks may be spent to give NPCs orders, which they may either obey or refuse to obey (doing nothing instead.) Command sparks may not be regained via skills or powers.
Hunted: Something wants her - but for what? +1 Danger to all scenes
SKILLS
CLOSE COMBAT (2): Brawling, Edged Weapons
PERSONAL (2): Awareness, Resilience
SOCIAL (4): Charm, Empathy, Leadership, Taunt

POWERS
The Living Swarm
Vent: 4-0
Effect: Gain 1 Living Swarm spark, +1 per vent reduction.
The Living Swarm: While this swarm exists, move in three dimensions and through anything smaller than a keyhole, reforming at will. You may expend these sparks to cause 3 Hit Sparks in a Area 2 radius.
Area Upgrade: +1 to Area Characteristic

Biomorphic Reinforcement
Vent: 4-0
Effect: Create 1 Biomorphic Reinforcement spark, +1 per vent reduction, which can be given out to anyone within Range 2, or to yourself
Biomorphic Reinforcement: +1 to Damage or Mass characteristic for the purpose of raw physical strength/feats.

Back to Back
Vent: 4-0
Effect: Choose 1 ally (+1 per vent reduction), within Range 1. Each can take one action using one of your skills, any of them that you wish. Once they have done so, you may make a free attack with your melee weapon, getting +1 to your skill per ally that acted.

Adaptation
Vent: 4-0
Effect: Create a number of sparks equal to the enemy's difficulty, narratively based on turning their abilities against them. Works on enemies of Diff 2>, +2 per vent reduction.

Just as Planned…
Vent: 6-0
Effect: Vent 6 heat and create 1 Planning Spark for her or an ally, +1 Spark per vent reduction.
Planning: The person holding this Spark can expend this to get +1 to a skill check as a free action. Using this Stack counts as you are helping for the purpose of relationships.

GEAR

Adds: +0 (Edged Weapons) | Characteristics: Damage [Speed] (4)[1]
Shadowstep (3): Can expend as a free action to move without crossing intervening space.
Guarded Space (3): Can expend to use Damage as a secondary characteristic for Durability, reducing incoming Damage characteristics.

GALACTIC WAR
Victory Points: 5
RESOURCES
TERRAN DOMINION [Background] (1)
The men and material of the Dominion - limited, but they're mustering as we speak.
ALLIANCE EXPEDITIONARY FORCES [Mastery] (1)
While you have access to several ACUs of every faction, they lack economic and technological support to be fully effective.
ZERG HIVE [Mastery] (1)
The scant few Zerg you control that are free of Amon's influence. Mostly Zerglings.
AEON FLEET [Background] (1)
While half a dozen CZARs seem impressive, they're not actually well made for ship to ship combat.
ALLIED COHESION [Motivation] (1)
The alliance is fragile and weak.

His hustle only works if we don't get there and distribute humanitarian aid first.

Of all the ways to "succeed with complications," Mengsk deciding to offer humanitarian aid to the Protoss was not on my radar.

It's great that he's trying to do something nice, but unfortunately we still have to steal a Khaydarin crystal and now we're going to be dealing with a four-way clusterfuck. I'm tempted to just head for Braxis and save that mess for later.

(Safe Haven being removed is surprising - what's happened to the refugee fleet, then?)

Protoss refugees, the zerg, Raynor's Raiders, Dominion Troops, and then the UEF. This will be a glorious mess. I hope the Tal'darim show up too just for shits and giggles.

I forgot what the Uraj mission was,
The 'Emperor's Gift', is that the evac from Aiur?

Cuz if it is,
[X] Head to [Unknown] (Emperor's Gift)

Better we get in contact with some friendly/potentially friendly aliens before he does, I wouldn't trust that man's "gifts" ever lmao,

I forgot what the Uraj mission was,

The Black Sun project needs "upspin" and "downspin" psychic phenomenon (what Protoss would call high and dark templar energies) to be completed. The Uraj is a crystal of dark energy, while the Khandarian crystal in Aiur is the high energy.

The 'Emperor's Gift', is that the evac from Aiur?

Yes! The name is changed because the mission has changed - since Arcturus is being sneak!

Beware the Emperors, even when they bring gifts.

*Mengsk plotting to play the enemy of an enemy card on Raynor*

Swann: "Fuck off, we've already bonded over screwing you."

*Mengsk plotting to sucker in the Protoss.*

Selendis: "Fuck off, I'm best friends with Jim Raynor."

*Mengsk plotting to out connive the Zerg*

Sarah: "Fuck off, Clarke is for me to fuck."

to be fair, there are only 8 UED missions in brood war! i ain't doin 30 ish missions per faction, this is already a full length novel for just this much game so far!
Huh,
Well that's Brood War. I wonder if there'll be a sequel after that somepoint- cuz it still seems like there's a helluva shitshow to follow even after the marked final mission. I'll be happy with whatever we can get anycase

Wait where'd you get the HEAT system from originally?

I wrote it!

it is of my own devising!

The inspiration for the core mechanic is I played an absolutely terrible Mass Effect d20 fan game and went, "no! The mechanics should work like how the guns work!"

Which is why you have skills gaining heat, the increase in difficulty with each check after the first, and where you get the power/cooldown system from (since in mass effect 1, you shoot until you're full on heat, use a power, take cover.)

We probably shouldn't ignore the President's orders, and I'm inclined to let Mengk's ploy play out since it means we don't have to worry about saving the Protoss.

[X] Head to [Unknown] (Emperor's Gift)

It is a larger source of the Upspin energy crystals, it's putting us on a collision course with Mengk's machinations, it gets us in a wide range scuffle with several factions AND it avoids whatever Dominion Bullshittery Mengk has been brewing in that research facility on Braxis.

Screw Riley, that snake went and told Sarah embarrassing stories about Sam! I say we postpone anything he specifically asks for, out of spite.

My money is on hybrids. Starcraft skullduggery always boil down to hybrids.

Joking aside with how the quest has been a mixture of Brood War and Starcraft II, it wouldn't surprise me if we were to discover that Mengsk were already in cahoots with Narud, that brilliantly named alter ego of Duran's, and the Moebius Foundation.

Edit:
Though... considering the suspiciously convenient discovery of Zerg and Protoss essence being critical to finishing Black Sun, Kerrigan's choice to reach out to Clarke psionically, and her and Duran being on Bel'Shir when the expedition first arrived in the Koprulu Sector, maybe the Dominion isn't the human faction that's been infiltrated by Amon's followers in this crossover.
