Letters
You were more than happy to take some time to kick back and simply read. There was a collection of mystery tales you had been looking forward to reading when you had the time, and now you did. The adventures of the stalwart detective and his wish to help others warmed you right through. You penned letters to your friends at the same time, writing to Jackson and inquiring how things were in his investigations, to the reverend about your last encounter and your well wishes for him, and to acquaintances in the upper circles of society that you passed through.

Jackson replies to your letter with the news that he had almost completed his manuscript on your shared experiences with Peru, and hoped you would be amenable to reading through his manuscript. He had of course been quite careful about the true events, as he knew that could be dangerous, but he still felt that it would make a worthwhile book and perhaps save others from stumbling into cults.

The reverend was just as effusive and welcoming in his reply, concerned about the trouble you seemed to continually find yourself attracted towards and his hopes for better. He had found himself working with a small group of like minded reverends who focused on blessings and protections for their congregations. It was perhaps not the larger scale battles against evil you faced, but he rather enjoyed maintaining a sanctuary for those in trouble, and building resources for those who would choose to fight.

The Countess Diana von Reventlow-Criminil had reached out to you, excited to tell you about the seance she would be holding that was hoped to help reveal the truth behind the city Rungholt and its disappearance in the 14th century. Yet another acquaintance wrote of the exciting news that some strange creature was attacking and killing livestock in the farms nearby. Not close enough to bother him, but it was exciting to hear about! Perhaps a hunting party would be formed to bring the beast to justice.

Last was a letter from Elle Flynn. Your hands shook slightly as you looked at the handwritten letter from your lost friend. It was as excited and cheerful as her letters had always been, talking about how she had a starring role in a local play, and she would love for you to come and see it. She even bought you a ticket so you could come!

Elle? Oh wow, does this mean she is reaching out from beyond from the King's grasp?
I think we're also seeing lost memories in the play too. It might be interesting, to go have a showdown. Oliver might not remember, but we his soul do. Do we have any in character reasons for why Oliver might try to unravel the memory painting? Feels kinda like cheating consequences and I'm worried about mental whiplash just before the play. We'll need to bring our A game if you pick..

Anybody familiar with the King in Yellow and how he operates knows this is a trap.

[X] Go to see Elle's play

Let's do this.

I assume this is obvious, but I did consider letting Emily know we're about to do something quite risky for a good reason as a subvote.

Umm, are we still missing the relevant memories?
Either way yeah this is a trap. But it's a trap we can't not spring. Time to see her again, and possible face her as a villain.

I really wish we had time to paint. We need stronger supernatural protections.

We have at least one ace in the hole, from the Arkham goosechase. We can now paint things into paintings to contain them, even metaphysical qualities like memories away. Something like this could potentially help out this time on King in Yellow.

I proposed repurposing unused spells away into concrete things as a research option in the midpoint between adventures.. but that didn't have much traction at all. We should coordinate next time.

This is very much so a trap. I guess tampering with the memory tugged at the strings, and now it's put out a feeler in our direction..

The Old Deer
You were going to the play. You were going to do your best to get Elle back, and lash back out at the King in Yellow at the same time if you could. You loaded up with everything you could think of needing, painting supplies, honey, bracelets of Pachamama, your pistol. You were going to try and sneak Nemo in as well. You told Emily your plan, and she looked concerned. She warned you that facing an entity like that would be highly dangerous, and it was likely that Elle had been altered from her time, if she could be retrieved. You needed to be as careful as possible, she wanted you to come back.

You head to Reville where the play is being hosted. It takes you some time to find the community theatre Elle is performing at. Apparently the theatre is above a bar called the Old Deer. The logo for the bar is a great stag standing before a full moon. You step inside and look around. The place has only a handful of patrons. Behind the bar itself is a great set of antlers. Someone smashes a glass. You can already taste the magic here. It reminds you of the area around the pyramid in Peru.

[ ]Try to warn people to leave
[ ]Ask if they're seeing the play
[ ]Head up directly to try and see Elle before the play
[ ]Write-in
