Empathetic: upon meeting an NPC, learn their motivation!
Legendary Commander: Gain 4 Command sparks at the beginning of each mission/combat. Command sparks may be spent to give NPCs orders, which they may either obey or refuse to obey (doing nothing instead.) Command sparks may not be regained via skills or powers.
Hunted: Something wants her - but for what? +1 Danger to all scenes
SKILLS
CLOSE COMBAT (2): Brawling, Edged Weapons
PERSONAL (2): Awareness, Resilience
SOCIAL (4): Charm, Empathy, Leadership, Taunt
MASTERY
ACU Pilot (2): Nanofabrication [Mass], ObSat Operations [Range]
The Hilt (4): Biomorphic Spawning (People), Regeneration (Durability), Physical Perfection (Speed), Telepathic Dominion (Range)

POWERS
The Living Swarm
Vent: 4-0
Effect: Gain 1 Living Swarm spark, +1 per vent reduction.
The Living Swarm: While this swarm exists, move in three dimensions and through anything smaller than a keyhole, reforming at will. You may expend these sparks to cause 3 Hit Sparks in a Area 2 radius.
Area Upgrade: +1 to Area Characteristic

Biomorphic Reinforcement
Vent: 4-0
Effect: Create 1 Biomorphic Reinforcement spark, +1 per vent reduction, which can be given out to anyone within Range 2, or to yourself
Biomorphic Reinforcement: +1 to Damage or Mass characteristic for the purpose of raw physical strength/feats.

Back to Back
Vent: 4-0
Effect: Choose 1 ally (+1 per vent reduction), within Range 1. Each can take one action using one of your skills, any of them that you wish. Once they have done so, you may make a free attack with your melee weapon, getting +1 to your skill per ally that acted.

Adaptation
Vent: 4-0
Effect: Create a number of sparks equal to the enemy's difficulty, narratively based on turning their abilities against them. Works on enemies of Diff 2>, +2 per vent reduction.

Just as Planned…
Vent: 6-0
Effect: Vent 6 heat and create 1 Planning Spark for her or an ally, +1 Spark per vent reduction.
Planning: The person holding this Spark can expend this to get +1 to a skill check as a free action. Using this Stack counts as you are helping for the purpose of relationships.

GEAR
Zeratul's Psi-Blades
Adds: +0 (Edged Weapons) | Characteristics: Damage [Speed] (4)[1]
Shadowstep (3): Can expend as a free action to move without crossing intervening space.
Guarded Space (3): Can expend to use Damage as a secondary characteristic for Durability, reducing incoming Damage characteristics.

GALACTIC WAR
Victory Points: 5
RESOURCES
TERRAN DOMINION [Background] (1)
The men and material of the Dominion - limited, but they're mustering as we speak.
ALLIANCE EXPEDITIONARY FORCES [Mastery] (1)
While you have access to several ACUs of every faction, they lack economic and technological support to be fully effective.
ZERG HIVE [Mastery] (1)
The scant few Zerg you control that are free of Amon's influence. Mostly Zerglings.
AEON FLEET [Background] (1)
While half a dozen CZARs seem impressive, they're not actually well made for ship to ship combat.
ALLIED COHESION [Motivation] (1)
The alliance is fragile and weak.

[X] Plan: Engineered Answers
- [X] T2-X Fabricator [cost 18]
-[X] ISO-Metric Sparks - these sparks can be spent to learn one fact about the enemy within your line of sight - Cost 6)

As an aside, out of curiosity, does the T2-X Fabricator upgrade compensate for the severe drop-off in performance that nanolathes from the quest suffer from when used to fabricate things in open space and if so to what degree?

Sure do! Not sure how much by since I haven't actually worked out mechanically how enviromental penalties work, lol.

Probably should do that at some point.

Can we get an info post on how you read item stat blocks? I'm not sure what 2[1] Damage[Reliability] means.

- [X] Enhanced Fusion Systems (x5) [cost 6]

I really like the teleporter, but a long-range fabricator has even more potential for shenanigans. Also, I want to get some higher-tier units out on the field.

Can we get an info post on how you read item stat blocks? I'm not sure what 2[1] Damage[Reliability] means.

So, gear has work characteristics (which make nice sparks that are yummy) and waste characteristics (which make mean, natsy sparks, that we all hate!)

So, Damage 2 means it adds 6(6) damage sparks to your attacks (boom!), but Reliability 1 means it creates 6 waste reliability sparks.

In this case, you fire it, then it makes "Overheat 6" which you have to clear out through actions or other characteristics (like, if somehow you had a characteristic that could negate overheating - like, say, locking your ACU into a coolant tower and turning yourself into a stationary turret.)

Now, as a note, you don't HAVE to use the Scythe gattling gun - it's attached to your already extant laser cutter. So, you can fire it, then switch to the normal gun while the Overheat decays!

EDIT: ALso, if you want the full math for write ins

A spark costs 1 per spark!
An add costs 3 per +1 (-3 per -1)
Characteristics cost 6 if they're unlinked to a Waste Characteristic, 3 if they have a Waste Characteristic within 2 points. For every 3 Characteristics, you NEED a waste characteristic.

(So, this means if you have a DAmage 3 weapon it needs a waste characteristic of 1, which gets you no rebate - it costs 18! But if you bump that waste characteristic to 2, then it drops to cost 9!)

The characteristic types are

Size: The work means being big helps, while the waste makes you harder to move/immobile
Damage: Work means it does damage, waste means it causes you hit sparks when you use it
Range: Work means you can use it at range, waste means that enemies being too close are a problem
Durability: Work means it prevents damage, waste means it is more fragile
Speed: Work means it makes you zoom, waste means its super hard to contro
Mass: Work means you can manipulate that much mass, waste means it REQUIRES that much mass (weight)
Reliability: Work means it lasts a long time, waste means it must be recharged periodically
People: Work means it is that many people, waste means it requires that many people to work (crew requirement)
Complexity: work means it's sophisticated/advanced, waste means it requires complexity to function.

So, like, a turret is damage/range, with the waste characteristics being size/range, since it's a big stationary object and if enemies get too close to it, it has a hard time blasting!

[X] Plan: Telefrag
- [X] Ifrit Pattern Point to Point Quantum Transmat System [cost 18]
- [X] Enhanced Fusion Systems (x5) [cost 6]

I'm just going to chip in and say wow, that was some dang good smut 👍
I have nothing else to add head empty no ACU upgrade only gay

[X] Plan: Telefrag
- [X] Ifrit Pattern Point to Point Quantum Transmat System [cost 18]
- [X] Enhanced Fusion Systems (x5) [cost 6]

[ ] Scythe Class Gatling Laser - using zerg derived biological fluid managements system, your ACU's arm mounted vehicular weapon becomes more accurate, faster firing, and harder hitting. Does periodically need to recharge. (2[1] Damage[Reliability], 1 Range, +1 Add for Vehicular weapons - total cost: 15)
[ ] Ifrit Pattern Point to Point Quantum Transmat System - using Protoss based crystal-focusing for quantum tunneling events, the Ifrit P2P Tunneler allows for transporting yourself on the ground several kilometers at once. Does periodically need to recharge. (3[1] Range[Reliability] - total cost: 18)
[ ] Regenerative AGT Shielding System - while seemingly primitive, certain advancements in micronized fusion power technology has driven Terran technology beyond our own. This enhances defensive shielding for cheap. [2 Durability - cost 12]
[ ] T2-X Fabricator - a synthesis of Terran construction systems, Earth based nanolathe, and utilizing bioplymers derived from Zerg lifeforms, the T2-X Fabricator is capable of mass production at incredible speed and range. [1 Mass, 2 Range - cost 18]
[ ] ISO-Metric HUD Scanner Array - using reverse engineered Protoss sense equipment, the ACU's scan and detection system can be vastly improved [X ISO-Metric Sparks - these sparks can be spent to learn one fact about the enemy within your line of sight - Cost X)
[ ] Enhanced Fusion Systems - combining Zerg bioform bioelectric systems with nutrient baths provides a significant edge in power generation. [+X Fusion Reactor Sparks - Cost X]
So, if I'm getting this right, the Weapons upgrade is: +1 to weapon skill via the damage, +1 range, the build bonus is +1 to nanofab & +2 to build range, the defensive shield is -2 to attacks against us?

Also, the 'filler' upgrades seem incredibly powerful, since we can go whole hog on them to give us intense advantages such as 24 free power sparks or 24 free info sparks per mission?

Please let us concentrate the awesome power of the sun into a destructive force at our finger tips people. Please vote for power overwhelming.

24 sparks, even if you halved that to create TWELVE combined resource sparks (which is unlikely, it'd probably be 24, which is even goofier), combining that with our nanofab skill would basically give us t2 structures, turn 2ish (1 to fab energy -> mass structures, one turn for t1 or t2 structures)

A personal teleporter is literally the best and most expensive personal ACU upgrade in Supcom, and we'd get it free every mission with this, without even a need to make a bunch of energy generators and energy storages for it.

Just imagine getting to just be over at the under attack local base and start fabricating there right at the beginning of a mission, teleporting over to a resource heavy spot after a recharge. We could've avoided the enemy defense line entirely last mission with this.

Isn't putting up nsfw stuff against the site rules? I'm pretty sure you can be penalized for that.

I believe the mature tag allows for that, so long as it does not consist of the majority of the work. So, a scene here or there is okay, as long as the thread is tagged mature, but it's to be used sparingly, to be impactful to the work and not say, every other chapter or the like.

From my reading of the rules at least.

Nah! Like, pretty much all of my quests have smut in them!

The weapon upgrade adds +1 to your weapon skill AND gives you the damage characteristic of 2 and a range characteristic of 2.

And that is true about the filler upgrades, I'm going to use the SILLY BUGGER RULE!

SILLY BUGGER RULE: The rules in HEAT are designed to be flexible and fun. This means you can absolutely break them, and sometimes, quite easily! But I trust you to not do that because...like...we're here to have fun and tell cool stories, not to "win" a game that's about cooperative storytelling. So, if any Gear is designed that's...just...silly buggers? The GM's allowed to go, "Nah, man, that's silly buggers."

So, sorry @w34v3r, that plan is sillybuggers

Teleporting is very cool, but it solves one specific problem.
Our industrial and engineering capacity can be applied to many different problems.

I was waiting for the part of you pointing out that it needed four points worth of downsides, but that's a fair response too.

Changing my vote from Power Overwhelming to:
[X] Plan: Telefrag

It would have given us huge options at every turn in the last two missions & trivialized serious problem that we had to face.

DragonCobolt said:
She looked thirty. You weren't...

Twenty years.
I'm somewhat confused by this. From the previous chapter:
You were forty years old and blushing like you'd just gotten out of college again.
The first seems to be pretty clearly saying that she's about 50, while the second explicity says she's 40. Is one of those an error, or am I missing something?

Oh, and then later it's answered she's 49. So maybe she was just rounding to the nearest ten differently on those two occasions?
