You took a deep breath and realized two things. One that the kids were in danger of dying on their first mission outside the villiage, something that unfortunately happened far more often than not. The attrition rate for the first mission was why the Dreaded C-Rank curse was seen as such a thing. Even the most prepared could not survive first contact with the enemy especially when most of those first-time genin were teenagers. Or younger, in this case.
But the second thing you realized was, that the idiots were all focused on the kids, and not on you.
Their biggest mistake was thinking the genin were the most dangerous threat. Oh, those poor poor fools. They had fallen for the classic blunder of intelligence. Not knowing who the biggest, baddest motherfucker in the battle is.
And you would make that mistake their last.
You took a breath, dodged a kunai, and then smirked. Everyone was now, in a moment, realizing what was going on. Except for Karin and Naruto. Though you could forgive Naruto, he was busy trying to stay alive, and Karin was in the dirt, trying to not die.
Honestly, you wished the kids had her sense of self-preservation, it would make what would happen next much easier.
"Kids hit the deck!" You ordered, before touching the ground and it rumbled.
"Shit!" one screamed in terror as he ran at you, trying to kill you before you could do…

Well, The Wood style made this far too easy. There was a reason that Hashirama was the biggest, baddest, scariest motherfucker on the battlefield.
Dozens if not a hundred pieces of sharpened lumber, controlled and snaking from the ground and the forest rose and started striking at the enemy from all directions. Some were no bigger than toothpicks…
And other were the size of tree trunks, all but disintegrating the bodies as they screamed in terror, twitching for a brief moment before they expired.
To say you took pleasure in it, was not something you wanted to do. But you did take satisfaction in a simple fact.
The Kids were going to be safe, and you would give them a dressing down of their mistakes later, preferably when it was safe to sit down and talk to them.
Thankfully, you had control and were trying your best to capture one.
However, there were simply not many options that weren't wounded by the time you were done. Sure you would have used Earth Style: Headhunter Jutsu to capture one before the attack, but you honestly didn't think your barrage was going to be that effective.
For goodness sake, they were all jounin and chunin, not Genin who charged in with no strategy. Yet here you were, counting all but one of them being dead! Dammit!
But at least he wasn't bisected, he only had a giant piece of wood through his spinal column, and he was still conscious. Good because you needed information. And he was going to give it to you.
But first. "Kids, are we okay?"
Naruto was the first to answer, dusting himself off, having narrowly avoided being killed by one of those flying logs you threw at people! "That was awesome!"
"That was not awesome!" You protested with a feeling of disappointment in your voice. "You all almost died."
"But they were all jounin and chunnin, and they got the drop on us. It really wasn't our fault." Naruto said. "Even with all my clones and scouting, they must have been camouflaged really well, or already in Grass waiting for us."
Dammit that boy was making sense! This was not going to be a good mission if Naruto was the one making sense.
Sasuke and Yakumo, had other thoughts. "It's going to take me forever to get the blood out of my dress!" Yakumo said.
"I think I got some bone in my hair. I need to clean it out." Sasuke said.
You frowned and took a breath. "We can get clean later, now we to interrogate some…"
