[X]Explore the den you could see the chair in

I'm throwing in the towel, come what may. We'll just have to deal with it.
Ancient ritual site.. It points more and more towards something summoned or containment broken.

Total research actions we did..

Ritual to get the professor talking
Talk to his colleague
Look at his University Necromicron notes
Research out his travel history
Send the painting to Emily
Talk to hospital
Talk to his neighbour, read the book manuscript
Read his personal journal now

Was there something vital we completely missed?

You take a moment to examine the bookcase further. There are some academic texts that you can see, and a couple novels the professor would have read in his spare time.

[ ]Leave the books as they are

You turn away and head down to the den itself. It's difficult to force yourself in there with the smell.

Constitution Roll
DC: 15
Roll: 5

Your stomach rolls and you feel faint forcing yourself in. There's nothing to gain in this room beyond the trail of filth marking the professor's escape from his prison as he stumbled to the door and the freedom he'd been held from for so long.

this one feels like a no brainer

[ ]Report the rot in the well

leaning towards just reporting it and moving on, but i'm willing to hear out other ideas

Hmm. I'm not sure taking a book from here would be wise. I'm not sure why, it just seems like it could lead back to us somehow.

Reporting the rot though yeah.

[X]Report the rot in the well

We should stick around to see what they pull out though. Just in case it's the corpse of the professor or something.

Money is not a limiting factor, we know this in-story and for vote planning, and I don't recall any kleptomanic tendencies intruding into our activities during investigations. Why did this particular option become available?

Why does a generic academic book on India grab our attention?

I suspect the "one of the" book is linked to the source of the professor's imprisonment.

I don't think we need to involve the public just yet. Let's make sure it's actually safe. There's an option to go down on offer that kinda hints there's still something going on.

So let's go back to the hunger lure idea from last page. It's just such a cool scene. We didn't get to do anything exciting this time too. So to end it in a blaze of glory..

[X] Grab some oil and pour it down the well. Drop a lit hunger lure to devour and purify the rot.

If we are successful leaves us an option to go down ourselves and exercise Nemo's breathing afterwards.

Corpse Disposal
You slipped one of the textbooks into your bag before heading back out of the house. You had to go a couple blocks before you reached a payphone, and finally managed to report the rot in the well. The worker was quite surprised by the call, but was quick to assure that a dispatch would be sent down considering your worries that the contamination was leaking into the local water reservoir.

You came and watched as a couple of menial workers came to the property and headed to the back of the field where the well was. A rope was attached and one climbed down. A few minutes later the man came back up, pale and shaking slightly. He spoke to his fellow worker, who looked disbelieving.

We called it in, no reason they'd be surprised we are curious about the source of the stench.

[X] Take the Professor's Journal as well for studying later

We really need to stop inflicting San damage to innocent bystanders. Oliver casually doing this has become an ongoing trend 😂

In my defense, i trought the occult stuff was somewere else and the well was a distraction.

I also didn't think going down the well without protective equipment was a smart idea. I trought leaving it to the professionals was better.
