Professor Cowan's Home
You dig out a pair of earplugs you picked up after listening to the professor talk about the chanting. You were nervous about finally approaching the house. Things weren't quite adding up. You couldn't tell if it was just coincidence, or something more going on. The professor had had something horrifying attack him, and the plague was moving quick, but you couldn't seem to find a connection.

You approached the house. It shockingly looks like it's been abandoned. The lawn is overgrown, and the bushes have become tangled and unruly. You can see two planks boarding the front door up, perhaps something the police set up after arresting the professor? The front window is wide open, and you can easily peer in to what was once a comfortable den. The room is completely filthy, with food scraps and other waste littering the floor. Jars of liquid are scattered about. You can see a spilled over chair, the one the professor must have been sitting in, and near it a couch that looks like it wasn't once sat on for months. Past that you can catch a glimpse of a hall.

You half peer around the side of the house to catch a glimpse of a large field that flows out behind the professor's house. You can see something set back at the end of the field, and a patio behind the house. A rusty bucket has been knocked a couple feet off the patio into the field.

Oddity in the Field
You began to cross the field, passing by the bucket and the house. You could go back and check on it further, but you wanted to know what was out here first. The further into the field you walked the more flies you encountered. It was a well in the back, and as you drew near you found yourself choking on the acidic stench of rotting flesh that was bloated by water. You had to fight to not throw up, pulling up your shirt to try and protect yourself from the stench. The flies were heavily interested in whatever was rotting down there. You peered down the well. It was deeper than you thought it would be, you couldn't see water or whatever was rotting down there.

[X] Tap into Nemo's senses to peer down the well
[X] Use an unused hunger lure from the Peru expedition to get rid of the flies

[X] Use Water of forgiveness to breathe through your gills if you think the miasma is getting to you

What are the odds that the rot in the well is the corpse of our dear professor?
Hmm.. we could breath through the gills if we were to, erm climb down. That's a wildly unsafe idea though haha. And alas we skipped bringing the lantern and rope in the prep work vote.

Edit: iirc we painted a few hunger lures to lure kharisiri but didn't end up getting to use them..
Reporting the rot sounds sound, and getting others to do it but we'd lose time. And we also didn't finish our investigations yet.

I think gill breathing, if using the water of forgiveness as an 'air tank', is a really clever idea. However, I think reporting the well is a bad idea, as mundanes will not be able to deal with the supernatural.
I'm unconvinced the flies are worth burning a lure of hunger. The flies sound like a side effect of the miasma and plague water.

What's in the Bucket
You retreated back to the patio. It was easier to breathe there, and you took in deep breaths. Alright, you had found something. You had some thoughts of how to go on from there, but you needed a small break first. You glanced over at the bucket and nudged it with your foot to turn it over. Your stomach twisted as it revealed human waste inside it. The professor had been using it as a bathroom when unable to move far enough to reach it in the house.

Somehow you manage to not throw up, taking a few steps away from the bucket just to breath. Yes you've seen worse, but human waste is always disgusting.
