BatQuest: A CK2 Batman Quest

The Just option is more about not doing the stopping other people from killing the Joker thing.

The vengeance options are the punisher options.

I like the idea of Disaster Bisexual Batman, and (on a more serious note) of a Batman who is willing to kill but only as a last resort, as opposed to the sort of bifurcated takes we see where he either fastidiously refuses to ever take a life or kills wantonly without any regard for what he's doing. But I'm conflicted on what sort of training to go for from here. My impulse is to continue the detective path with Forensic Accounting, but a Batman without martial arts feels incomplete, and magic is fascinating too…
I'd honestly be a little surprised if this was the only option for combat training. I'm sure we can pursue it at a later date as well, though he may not be as skilled as he would be if he started at fourteen. Consider this for forensic accounting: I'm 99% certain that he'd be learning under the futre Riddler. Wouldn't it be hilarious if Bruce figured out who the Riddler is because of that?

...A generational quest? We have the possibility of multiple Batmen or a wider Bat Family? Nice. Anyway, it looks like through our stats and decisions this iteration of Batman is going to be leaner and more bookish than the canon Batman. While I think we've got the cerebral aspects of The Batman going strong I like that this means when it comes to the crime-fighting phase this Batman is likely going to have to pick up some combat skills and is likely gonna get thrashed at first which sounds like a fun story beat to me. It's kind of the opposite of The Long Halloween in that regard.

Forensic Accounting does also provide a nice little tie to the Riddler and the match up between the two will be a fun situation in which we catch on to our mentor simply because we know how he thinks and the methods will be familiar. From there it's dependent on whether he'll try and be more merciful to his enemies and try and save everyone (and angst every time he fails) or if he'll genuinely focus on the lives of the innocent even if it means leaving his old mentor to burn down inside one of his failed schemes. It also means that Batman will be way more tricky than his canon version, as he simply lacks the brawn and the skill his combat training afforded him.

The magic path seems interesting, too. I'll admit I'm not too fond of the magic side of the DC Universe, though.

not interested in a romance here. Simple as.

[X] [EVENT] He had it coming.

Justice is THE thing that makes Batman a superhero.

I'm a wizard at heart. Or a warlock perhaps in this case.

Etran mentioned potentially Lovecraftian direction right? Pretty interesting in combo with this. Also, the Zataras as a longtime ally.

You know, I just had an important realization:

We don't actually know for certain that Bruce Wayne will become Batman.

We're just assuming that he will because that's what happened in the original DC timeline. But—unless Etranger specifically puts his thumb on the scale—nothing is actually stopping us from doing something different.

Of course, given his interests and personality (and the nature of this quest) it's almost certain that he'll end up as some sort of masked vigilante or other kind of superhero. But is "I shall become a bat!" a fixed point in time? Or could he follow a different path towards protecting the streets of Gotham City?

Presumably he will become Batman because the quest is "BatQuest: A CK2 Batman Quest" instead of "A CK2 Bruce Wayne Quest"

Tho not improbable that Batman doesn't operate at all like various iteration of street-fighting, combat-heavy Canon Batman & is more on the investigative side

the esoteric knowledge path also gets us a fair amount of martial training without making it our primary focus. i am hype for semi-magical smart tricksy batman who loves the new deal
