[X]Visit the professor's home
Would you consider switching to talking to the professor first? You've always prioritized caution in this quest, I'd really rather we don't get caught unaware by something. Normally I'm not this risk averse, but the presence of the Necronomicon impies all sorts of horrors that could lead us to severe consequences if we fail rolls. We got so lucky with the painting. I really think we should go into this with an inkling of the nature of the threat. Even if the professor is uncooperative Emily at least will have insights.[X]Visit the professor's home
-[X] Bring the ingredients for Water of Forgiveness, just in case.
Just in case we get trapped too or such.

So I like being prepared, but there is the time factor to consider. I would not want to spend more then a few hours. Every day may have consequences. So nothing elaborate.[X] Make preparations to visit the Professor's home
-[X] Create a backdoor to the Red realm that you can escape with
-[X] Place an arsenal of tools in a secure place at Emily's that are in easy reach..
-{X] Sledgehammers, ropes, gunpowder, oil, honey, religious icons, animal blood and painting supplies that you cannot easily carry.
-[X] Prepare Water of Forgiveness, ready to unbind yourself from influence.
-[X] Prepare an elaborate ward of Pachamama's Sigils and another of Isis that you can use as shield depending on the type of Foe, Eldritch or Undead. Long sheets of protective sigils that you can paste on surfaces. If they are too bulky to carry leave them at Emily's to retrieve as you need them.
I don't know if this will be enough but these what I can think off the top of my head, for an unknown threat.. Do you guys have more ideas? Feel free to add or remove subvotes if there's something you think we need or don't need.
Looks like it might be something that followed him from the cave-in instead. We could perhaps follow up on that?
Indian.. rakshasha?

Indian.. rakshasha? I also remember chanting mentioned, that might be relevant. I'm adding earplugs just in case.
Can we at least bring the earplugs though? The chanting was mentioned by the professor and it could be the thing that traps.Hmm. There feels like there is an inconsistency we need to figure out here.

Don't we already have a door to the red realm?
Anyway, checking the neighbors seems like the best bet to me. Should tell us the plague and the professor situation are really related or if it's just a coincidence.
[X]Check on the professor's neighbors to see if they are also ill
-[X] Bring Water of Forgiveness, just in case.
Good point. Added. Can we at least bring the earplugs though? The chanting was mentioned by the professor and it could be the thing that traps.
Edit: I really don't think it's worth it to mess with the Necronomicon notes any further than we already have.
