Would show commitment to Cai-Bai alliance. Solidfy Cai position as allies in the eyes of rank and file of Bai.

Unfortunately we're also represent the wider interest of the Empire at large. Which does mean keeping it relatively neutral in the case. Despite the optics, these are still foreigners and using them to backstab what is ostensibly an 'ally' would make the Bai look worse through us.

I find that a little overly pessimistic. Qi herself has stated that she finds him handsome before so I think the simpler thing was just that she was checking him out.

The manipulative read on it is pessimistic perhaps, but her reaction reads very neutral to me. Maybe this is the "bullying" y'all like so much? Stare at 'em all pretty 'til they squirm a little?

I just want a little more from LQ in that moment to tip it from "I can get a reaction, and that's fun" into "I am also reacting to something about this person."

Why is she staring? Transfixed by a detail (ie a dimple or lock of hair out of place)? Reflecting on how quickly he supported her? Could her eye contact + head tilt have been a precursor to leaning in?

Maybe that's more heavy-handed than yrs wants to portray at the moment, but there's room to read into it both positively and neutrally. I believe he is interested in her, but is she interested in him or just testing?

Hm, I was generally going for, Ling Qi realizes it can actually be a little fun to get a reaction, rather than the more negative interpretation, might tweak a line there

Ah, that's how it starts. First your staring ominously at people to get a reaction.

Next you've got antlers and the cold death of the universe stares out from the vestiges that some would call your eyes. As the room plummets in temperature and a funeral dirge emanates from the unsound of cessation.

But don't worry she's just playing.

This is how I read the scene:

Typical moment where the girl smiles sincerely and the guy gets stuck staring, drawn in.
Meng Dan notices he was staring and tries to hide it and brush it off.
Ling Qi notices both the stare and the diversion attempt, and looks at him while tilting her head, curious but not put off. Rather even amused.
Meng Dan bashfully looks away.
Ling Qi realizes what she is doing and turns around, flustered that she had brought attention to the moment instead of uncomfortably ignoring it as she would usually do.

I didn't get any of these manipulative or over-complicated interpretations.

Oh, well, I hope he likes to squirm, then, because there are people who do and don't like that feeling, and doing it to one is charming and doing it to the other is mean.

this is a good point, she's probably not bullying on purpose, and I'm just corrupted by past thread banter

The boy just promised to snitch on his kin so we can save the province from war together, and I want him to have nice things and not regret it!

... He's lucky his moon fairy doesn't live in his brain like Six. She'd never let him hear the end of it.

Edit: So I was looking at the Formation stage of Green requirements. And for some reason I think that we've already fufilled it. Can someone tell me if we have or not? How well developed is our Domain compared to our relative peers (we have 49/60 concept levels in Foundation/Completion)?
Last time I did the math, the only thing we are limited by is XP gain, for the rest of Green except perhaps for the Domain Name Quest.

Out of curiousity. Other than spite can anyone give me a justification for Pushing back against the Flowers?
They're not our friends, and they're not acting like trading partners either. We shouldn't just give them something for nothing; they need to actually engage with us.

We can easily name what the Cai, Bai, Xuan, Zheng ... even the Jin are contributing despite political disagreements. The Guo also didn't play ball, which is why it's only fitting that we undermined them by asking the Han.

We also need one more Advanced Insight for Fortification, which are often a tad hard to come by. Plus Mastering a Successor Art, though I admit that one seems very doable.

The remaining Concept Levels are probably basically inevitable by the time we get the xp, though, it's true.

This is a good point. I personally a good policy to at least not completely isolate them in these negotiation.

By the by. Has yrsillar revealed (or hinted at) what the domain naming quest will entail?

On a seperate note. One of my favorite and more unique features of this story are the Tribulations. The fact that they must be sought and given by stronger spirits (presumably the more...advanced humans can do this too). Each one has been important to the story and each has been a moment of character growth.

I'm pretty sure spirits/sufficiently spiritlike humans are not actually remotely required, they're just generally... SLIGHTLY more likely to be tailored to be usefully survivable than tribulation without intentionality behind it. Gu Xiulan burning her arm out with lightning was, I'm pretty sure, just from deliberately exposing herself to "regular" lightning, albeit presumably spiritually strong lightning, not from doing anything with a lightning spirit.

My read:
He stared at sudden, assumedly beautiful, "Thank you" smile, covered it up with his classic amused look, then LQ kept looking at him to find more sincere feelings, and he looked away because maybe he has them and is bashful.

A cute moment, in the also negotiating a snitch agreement to avoid explosive international fallout way.

More than a little bit manipulative on LQ's part, though, and if LQ has feelings to return for him, her "continued observation" moment is where I'd expect to hear a snip of them, since we're in her head. Silent as it is, it's hollow like she's waiting to feel something, and we get *his* reaction breaking eye contact.

I don't think Ling Qi is intentionally being manipulative, that's more like what CRX does with taking advantage of people's attraction to her for political advantage. Meng Dan is just a poor dude who's in too deep and is going to get his heart broken by Ling Qi, like so many others, but not before providing us with plenty of benefits while trying in vain to court Ling Qi. It's his own fault though, Ling Qi didn't ask for this.

In-character? Meizhan probably asked nicely at some point. :p

OOC? The Sun are only technically in charge of this territory because the jungle's name is Sun Red Jungle now. Also, if Liling starts shit, we can yeet her from the conference.

[X] Push back against the Sun (+1 WS Favorability. Sun on the edge of insult, more likely to make trouble.)

[X] Be fair with the Sun (-1 WS Favorability w/ chance to reduce. Sun grumbling but satisfied enough.)

We are talking about the part of the Wall directly south of their jungle. And the issue isnt Liling making issues at this conference.

The real issue is that the Sun aren't actually the ones signing this contract, so if they decide they don't actually agree to the border we draw for them, they do have the option to just disregard it in the coming years without even breaking the contract. They have one of the strongest armies in the empire and an active war-themed 8th realm, so they could just decide to take what they want anyway then. Especially if they feel like we screwed them over here. And that would be kind of awkward for us.

So the easy solution to avoid that situation is to just be fair to them (so they think talking this out is a reasonable option) and give them the clay that they are most interested in. The fair option does that, so thats why I think the option is just way better.

Ok. Thank you. So we've MADE a PSA but we haven't MASTERED it yet. Still wild we have 2/3 the amount of advanced insights required.

Is it possible to gain more advanced insights than 3 or....
Same with just normal insights.
To my knowledge there is no actual limit on Advanced Insights.

But they can't really be forced, unless you're repeatedly triggering Heart Demons and then facing tribulation, getting more than you need would be pretty rare.
