[X] Action Plan: Ghosts of Hazōmas Past

Looking at all the differences between the plans, I still find myself swayed by the Dragonshade precautions in this plan. While I do not consider it a likely outcome, I do not think we can confidently say that it's out of the question and the consequences for being wrong start at TPK and get worse from there.

I kind of feel like the tunnel excavation thing is us being too clever, and we should instead just run out; it'd more than likely be faster, and more likely to run into help from Mari/Haru/Kagome.

Which doesn't qualify that tunneling through them, they will remain structurally sound.
Am I missing something? By "tunneling through them" you mean "exiting through one spot on the ceiling," right? Seems really unlikely to cause structural problems, and even if it does we won't be in the cavern anymore by that point….

@Sir Stompy ; @faflec

It was pointed out in discord that we have no idea how stable the cave is, and Tunnel Excavation could make the cave collapse on us, do we have a solution for this possible failure in the plan?
We're passing through the tunnel while the jutsu is active. Not making the tunnel and then traveling through it. It won't have time to collapse on us.

It doesn't matter if the tunnel collapses afterwards cuz we'll be gone.

Are you worried the entire cave system will collapse if we use this jutsu? The cave system is square kilometers large, the jutsu makes a 2m hole. It's not big enough to collapse much

EDIT: If you voted for my plan and want no tunnel, ping me here or on Discord. If a majority of my voters want no tunnel I will take it out.

Looks like the tally is broken cuz the latest interlude is marked as sidestory instead of a proper theadmark. If you count from the latest interlude the tally looks like this

Kei: Suggest using Electrocution Seals, and Training Tags (Weapons:2 explosives)
  • Or any other of her ninjutsu (Nara) that could be effective.
    • Don't say Nara outright in case she's being cagy
Can we just ask if the Nara taught her any useful jutsu? It's deniable (they don't just know Shadow jutsu, they presumably have various clan jutsu that anyone could learn) and the current OPSEC risk is effectively zero given that we're surrounded by our family in a cave that didn't exist last month.

Also -- Can we have confirmation that Defend The Log (cast by Pandojuru) would function under the same buff as Pantokrator's Hammer? I assume that it does, because the text of the jutsu says that it functions very similarly. @Paperclipped @eaglejarl @Velorien
Yep, it would be included in the same stunt.

Actually @eaglejarl @Velorien @Paperclipped based on the blood trail that the team has seen, does Noburi think Yuma has 15 minutes to spare before he bleeds out?
Perhaps! Though then field treatment may be harder, and he may not make it to the hospital...

@eaglejarl @Velorien @Paperclipped
How powerful are explosive seals? If my model is correct, they're roughly as powerful as a hand grenade. Hand grenades don't cause trenches to collapse, and almost certainly wouldn't cause the caverns to collapse.

Even if full power tags are too dangerous in the team's opinion, what about training tags that are Weapons:2 or Weapon:1? Still too dangerous to use?
It seems unlikely to the characters that explosive tags would collapse the cavern, but the confines are so tight in the tunnels that friendly fire is a massive concern.

Heya, we're thinking about the Electrocution seals as a source of energy damage for the ghosties. We're wondering if

We have any of the seals on us
If it's within a declare for us to have them on us
If the seal would work as a melee weapon buff, doing raiton damage.
You have electrocution seals on you. As to how they would work if you attached them to a weapon.... TIAFO.

The distinction I'm making here is that Blocks prevent actions and dodging an attack is a reaction. I admit it's kind of ambiguous. So let's ask @Velorien @eaglejarl @Paperclipped can you use a single target Block to prevent someone dodging an attack?
You cannot use a Block to reduce an enemy's stats to 0 (i.e. Blocks are not ~1-hit kills.)

Additionally, can we get a list of Summons that have been banished and aren't available for use right now?
Just the ones named in the update.

Whoops! Crap, how is it suddenly 2:30 already?! Thank you for doing this. I'll take your version and say:

Furthermore, does Hazou know of any of his Dog summons that use ninjutsu to attack? We have one listed ninjutsu user Canun, but Cangue, Canny, Cantelope, and Canyon are all just listed as "Combat" we know Cantelope uses the Sun Element to attack, do others use offensive ninjutsu?
Most of the Dog fighters, if not listed as ninjutsu, are going to be using standard Dog combat styles (i.e. teeth and claws). Canny and Canyon have some proficiency in ninjutsu and can use it in a mixed fighting style, though HDK if that fighting style would work against the shades -- nor has he yet negotiated with the Horizon Chasers for arbitrary summoning, meaning "when I call you will drop whatever you're doing and get teleported to some random place in order to kill whoever/whatever I point you at, no questions asked, risking a forcible unsummoning which is quite painful for hours or even days."

@eaglejarl @Velorien @Paperclipped Is the current state of affairs sufficient to broach a single combat stagnancy barrier? (Would continuing have the potential to break a second?)
Not yet sufficient to clear a combat stagnancy barrier. You will need to retrieve Yūma (or his body) and return to the surface in order for it to clear a barrier (essentially, you need to complete the mission).

Earthshaping Ideas

Now that we have Earthshaping 50, we can go back to our Light Relay seal and improve it, by a lot. We can also teach Hazou more light and optics theory, and possibly get back to our infrared HOWS (Harumitsu's Outstanding World-Saving seal) experiment.
  • We can make triangular prisms out of quartz and have Hazou look at how sunlight is dispersed by a prism into a spectrum. Then Hazou tries the same thing with either a Light Relay seal or a HOWS and we see how the spectrum is narrowed. If we try that in a couple different ways I think Hazou can make the connection that light is composed of a spectrum of colors, and that blue light is higher up than red light. Then we try the same with a red and near infrared HOWS, then finally an infrared HOWS. I think Hazou could make the connection that lower down than red light is heat. I don't think we should do the same with ultraviolet though, since there's potential for damaging eyes or skin that way.
  • We can also make optical fibers out of quartz. This should be very easy to do. Then we have in essence Light Relay seals that work as far as the optical fibers can carry the light, which should be a pretty long distance. In real life, you can have usable signal out of an optical fiber at 100km, and according to wikipedia quartz fiber has a loss of 1 dB per km. From QM docs, light relay seals at 300 lumens can activate another relay at 3m, after which the light would've attenuated to 1/9th of its original intensity. If we use the same intensity calculation then we can have a fiber run of 9.5km between the light relay emitter and receiver.
  • Diamond scales + spidersilk backing could make for some wicked scale armor. I commented this earlier but I'll put this here just to note it down. Diamond is very hard and so should be good at dissipating energy by breaking (like ceramic armor). Polycrystalline diamond is significantly tougher than normal crystalline diamond, and should also be possible to make with Earthshaping. Should be easier actually since we're not trying to make a pure diamond. Look up carbonado for more information. The papers I've been able to find say it has about the same fracture toughness as something like Aluminum.
  • Carbon Fiber is also something we should be able to make with earthshaping. The QMs said ES won't let us do molecular or atomic level changes, but carbon fiber is much bigger scale than that. Same with other strong fibers like glass, quartz, basalt, boron, etc. Not too sure about what to do with them though other than making very strong ropes and fabrics and composites with resin. Maybe make something like carbon-fiber-reinforced carbon (carbon fiber in carbon matrix) for highly temperature resistant parts (aka energy armor)? Or put chopped carbon fiber in concrete for very strong structures? Medieval Japan had concrete, right?
