Hazō can produce roughly 10 telescope lenses (so 5 telescopes) per day of Earthshaping effort. Hazō and Shino crunch the numbers on the relative costs of Hazō's time versus the Aburame craftsmen's time, and find that Hazō can produce the telescopes slightly cheaper than the craftsmen (though much faster – they currently produce around 10 per month).
Man Hazō's time is shockingly undervalued.

[X] Action Plan: Building Favor
[X][Hyūga] Finalize the deal: Hazō will provide them with sapphire and diamond only, in exchange for a healthy income stream.

Man Hazō's time is shockingly undervalued.
Ino agrees to take 2 days-worth of Goo Bombs per month (either Hazō or Kagome's). In exchange, Ino will arrange some minor social plots to rehabilitate Hazō's reputation. She notes that the Hagoromo were careful to only target Hazō, not Gōketsu in general, so as to avoid the risk of being accused of trying to start a clan war. She also notes that the best thing Hazō could do is to be visibly devout to the Will of Fire – to do purification rituals and attend the Hagoromo's sermons and festivals – and to absolutely refuse (as much as he can) to interact with Hidan or anything resembling Jashinism at all. Ino also will come on a Summoning Scroll hunt that lasts up to a month, and forfeit any claim to anything retrieved on the mission. She requests that Hazō be present.
To confirm, Ino wants 2592 Goo Bomb seals in exchange for:
  • Arranging "some minor social plots to rehabilitate Hazō's reputation"
  • One mission without looting rights lasting at most a month
@Paperclipped @eaglejarl @Velorien, am I interpreting her offer correctly?
@eaglejarl @Velorien @Paperclipped
Just following up, thanks.

[X][Aburame] Spend 1 day per month making telescopes. (+50% production)

I was wondering if their was any idea on what sort of projects we'd like to do once we get primordial sealing up and running? Or what things do we think it would be good at compared to regular sealing

As for primordial sealing I'm in favor of using it for Project Don't Die To Dragons. Considering how stressed Hazō's schedule has been I don't really want to find new ways to spend his time unless it turns out to be necessary.

Correct. If you want to frame it another way, she's asking for Hazō & Kagome to do 24 days worth of relatively easy, low-stakes work that doesn't take them out of the village, in exchange for her doing up to 30 days worth of potentially dangerous work that does take her out of the village.

Is simply saying that we want to check if the Rift can be moved enough? I feel like we're increasingly in over our heads re: what is and isn't possible with these MS seals and interacting with the rift.
Yep -- or any other things that you want to check. It's possible that Hazō/Kagome can't figure out how to collect the relevant information, in which case they'll just scrap those parts.

@eaglejarl @Velorien @Paperclipped Does this seem to Hazō and Kagome like, hypothetically, it could be helpful? i.e. do they think perhaps the notes could be understood through a collaboration with a technique hacker, or that necessarily one person must possess all of the relevant expertise in order to understand the notes?
Potentially! So far, the extent of Hazō's collaboration with a Technique Hacker has been screening a small section of the notes past Asuma. It's not impossible that an extended collaboration bears fruit.

@Paperclipped @eaglejarl @Velorien How much time per-day are we talking with regard to that? About the same amount as it'd take to seal?
About that much.

Can it be assumed that Hazō will take SC hours every month to work on his various deals, or are we going to have to actively vote those things in? It's hard to keep track of what day of the month (or even what month it is) chapter to chapter.
Yes, Hazō will fulfill his agreements without player intervention, provided that it's possible for him to do so. For example, if you decide for him to leave the village for a month then obviously he won't be able to do his part and he will default. If the QMs remember the issue in advance then we might throw out a "Hey, don't forget X" before the plan goes into effect, but it's ultimately on the players. If we don't think of it before the plan goes through / Hazō leaves and then we remember later, we will write the appropriate outcomes from Hazō forgetting and won't feel guilty about the lack of advance warning.

Replace Hazō and Shino crunching the numbers with me crunching the numbers. The comparison is to the other thing Hazō would be doing do earn money -- scribing skywalkers.
Couldn't he take commissions for novel seals? I think that's worth potentially 10s of millions of ryo for each one.

Based on how much the MARI guy charges to invent new jutsu.

Or teach new sealmasters. Also something he could charge millions of ryo for.

in exchange for her doing up to 30 days worth of potentially dangerous work that does take her out of the village.
Did she not also request that Hazō also do that work?

Also, comparing the amount of time spent instead of the value of the goods exchanged is a disingenuous way to phrase it. As an extreme example, twelve hours of a surgeon's time is worth way more than than twelve hours of a cashier's time (since you could easily substitute the labor of the cashier with someone else). Trades are always based on the valuation of the goods or services being exchanged, not solely on the time the services entails. A Clan Head like Ino would absolutely operate like this.

We are going to be paying her for that mission, so what we're really purchasing is her forfeit of the scroll and a guarantee that she'll make herself available for it. Both valuable things, to be sure, but not nearly at the level of over two and a half thousand Goo Bomb seals which each can allow even one of her weakest genin to hit well above their weight class.

If this is something you want, it should be specified.

I'm also not sure how you would adequately pay her: the pay for a mission is based on the danger and the potential rewards. She's relinquishing her claim, so are we paying strictly for the danger? In that case, are we paying for a month-long A-rank mission? At the going rates for a clan head? That's bonkers.

It's a good swap - a month of her time doing something dangerous for less than a month of our time doing something not-dangerous, plus reputation rehabilitation.

The deal gets even better when you consider the fact that her time is a scarce resource compared to ours - not only can we push things off to Kagome if necessary, we'll be using Shadow Clone and we can parcel our work for her out in fits and starts. She needs to commit to being out of the village for a long time.

Put another way - what do you think the exchange rate for Ino-hour and Hazo-hours should be? I honestly think that 1:1 would be pretty fair.

How disruptive is an inturuption? If we go an a 2-week mission 5 months in, are we back to square one?

If Enma or another monkey is anywhere near a dog, is there any reason not to continue having our meetings on the 7th path?

Potentially-final updates.
[X] Action Plan: Mending Fences
Word count: 299
  • Optimize w/Mari, Kei, Noburi, Ami.
  • Approach:
    • Hazo classic: earnest, honest, open.
    • Breathe before responding if frustrated.
    • Focus on listening, understanding.
  • Yuno
    • Include Noburi.
    • Hazo's sorry. Last time, he was off-balance/worried and wasn't as direct as he should've been.
    • Hazo believes:
      • Murdering innocents is wrong.
      • Jashin exists/favours Hazo.
      • He needs Hidan's favour.
      • Hazo prioritizes Uplift.
        • He doesn't want balance.
        • He wants Birth/Life/Humanity to win, conclusively.
        • His relationship with Jashin is largely transactional, not based on shared morals.
    • Let that settle.
    • His worry came from fear - not of, but for Yuno.
      • Death causes pain/suffering - everyone has families/dreams.
      • Jashinism could crush Yuno's kindness/loving nature.
      • Hidan's alone - no family, children, real friends.
    • Hazo wants every child to grow up happy and safe - hence, Uplift.
    • What does Yuno want? What legacy does she want to leave?
    • Genuinely solicit/consider Yuno's beliefs/values.
  • Aggrieved clanmates:
    • Demanding their jutsu without discussion was a mistake. He's sorry.
    • Hazo withheld nothing useful during the war.
      • A few diagnostic seals and techniques they couldn't use, but nothing else.
    • KEI adoption/justu will come up for every clan.
      • Goketsu has influence. Their collective decision could set precedent.
      • This needs to work for everyone: clans, KEI, adoptees.
      • What do they want? What issues do they see? Do they have ideas?
      • Encourage them to ruminate: good's better than fast.
    • Distribute improved Rocket Boots.
  • Harumitsu:
    • Trade level-appropriate (Firework, Bubble?) seals for Cold Seal.
    • Ask for advice re: who to approach for purification. Get purified.
  • Misc.:
    • Attend Asuma's lessons.
    • SC-test MARS RBs: multiple pairs at once, attached to elbows/back (punching and propulsion).
    • Sealing:
      • With HazoPilot's approval…
      • Prime SSA: Reusable Rocket Boots (full prep)
        • Six uses.
        • Boost bonus, then # activations until sufficiently challenging (stagnation).
      • SC SSA: Latching MS8 (full prep).
      • SC: Dampener Seal, 4FSoP (full prep)
@Shrooms, @_The_Bomb, @RandomOTP, @Twinnstars, would you take a look? I've either talked with you about things here or you were big on 4FSoP which is now included.

@Velorien and @Paperclipped, does anything seem un(der)specified or difficult to write?

Replace Hazō and Shino crunching the numbers with me crunching the numbers. The comparison is to the other thing Hazō would be doing do earn money -- scribing skywalkers.
Relatively speaking, how much more money is it to do Asuma's 4FoP research mission than to spend that time scribing SkyWalkers?
It's a good swap - a month of her time doing something dangerous for less than a month of our time doing something not-dangerous, plus reputation rehabilitation.
She also requested that our Clan Head also accompany her on that mission. We will spend an equal amount of time as her on that mission plus 24 days, instead of, say, having Noburi and Yuno lead that mission and Hazō only spending 24 days scribing seals.

Don't like it? Don't vote for it. Either way, don't imply QMs are being dishonest.

I'll be honest, and i don't like to say it, but i think Ino is taking advantage of us.
Giving up Goo Bombs to genin is already, by itself something unvaluable that no clan would accept: you're rolling the dice on losing your clan secret with the worse possible odds. She is then doing a relatively normal deal, lopsided or not depending the current skills involved, but ignoring that crucial point.( An example would be KEI overpricing the academy ticket for breaking a tradition).
It is our fault for expecting her to not take advantage of our, frankly put, not really well put offer(For various and understandable reasons, one of which is the fact that we have a massive blindspot for emotional closeness), but i hoped she would recognize the imbalance and try to play fair and correct it, instead of being quiet and hoping we couldn't catch it.
I'm somewhat disappointed in her, while i understand that she is limited in what she can offer without breaking her priorities to her clan.

Ah, apologies. That was not my intent at all. I'm trying to say that for a good faith negotiation like this one, Ino would be using different logic than you are currently modeling. I apologize for any poor choice of wording on my part that implied I was accusing the QMs of being dishonest.

Unfortunately I think it's been mentioned goo bombs aren't clan secret afaik (to the point Jiraiya was distributing them to literal missingnin)

I don't think this is what happened tbh.

[X] Action Plan: Building Favor
Words: 398
Timeline: Bandit clearing + 1 research cycle
  • With Noburi, take a couple bandit clearing missions direct from Asuma.
    • Summon low-cost Dogs to help track
    • Noburi
      • Would you be willing to take a break from the Hospital?
        • We need the teketsu opening surgery for the Rift, can you begin researching it?
          • Suggest experimenting on common Chakra beasts
          • Consult with Dr. Yakushi? Don't do so if risks compromising OPSEC on Rift to Orochimaru
        • Encourage him to read notes to improve his skills
  • Meet with disgruntled clanmates:
    • Optimize with Mari, Kei, and Noburi
      • Ask Asuma and Ino their opinion in general terms
    • Prior to the meeting, encourage Mari to share a few more of her ninjutsu.
      • Over half the clan shares her Lightning Element. Her ninjutsu could keep them alive.
      • She could share the techniques she contributed to the Tower with the Clan.
    • At the meeting:
      • Demanding they surrender their jutsu without discussion was a mistake.
      • But! Hazou withheld nothing useful for combat during the war.
        • He kept a few diagnostic seals, but there was nothing else.
      • In light of Akane's death, Hazou is loosening the OPSEC on MARS
        • Any Goketsu of at least special jounin rank will have access to (black paper) MARS.
        • Distribute improved Rocket Boots, and Dampener seals (as applicable)
      • The issue of KEI justu will come up for every clan.
        • The Goketsu are influential. What they decide, collectively, could set precedent.
        • What do they want? What issues do they see? Do they have ideas? You want something that works for everyone - them included.
        • Encourage them to ruminate: you don't need an answer immediately.
  • Offscreen
    • Do purification rituals, attend religious sermons and festivals as necessary, be seen
      • Optimize with Mari
    • Attend clan head training with Asuma
      • Do this regularly from now on
    • Hazou begins advising Sasha
    • Trade for Harumitsu's Cold Seal.
  • Sealing
    • Test how MARS interacts with Rocket Boots, try triggering pairs attached to the feet/elbows/back and multiple pairs at once
      • Use SCs as test subjects.
    • SC SSA: MS8 Latching derivative. Full prep
    • Prime SSA: Reusable Rocket Boots. Full prep
      • Improve the seal until it challenges stagnation
      • Aim for six uses, and then boost the bonus as much as possible
    • Non-SSA SC
      • Full prep 4FSoP
      • Research Dampeners and then use them
      • Keep genin seals coming - Substitution, Harumitsu's Cold Seal, Electrocution, other Jiraiya seals
      • Abort any seal if it seems difficult, do not risk sealing failures

Could we ask Kagome for help with RRB, just to be safe?

Unfortunately I think it's been mentioned goo bombs aren't clan secret afaik (to the point Jiraiya was distributing them to literal missingnin)

I feel we always get fixiated on the technicalities(It's treason, it's not treason, it's or it's not clan secret), without dealing with the actual core, what the people IC think and why they think so.
It's doesn't really matter if it's a Clan secret or not, what matter is that it's a competitive advantage that we have and other people don't and the risks we incur by giving said advantages away exist, and Ino knows it. She recognized the value of obtaining Goo Bombs by asking us to buy them, after all.
Unless i'm missing something and a good amount of sealmasters in Leaf knows Goo Bombs.
