I can't really refute any of that. All I can really offer in response is that, while the name Vindicator has some thematic resonance, it doesn't really have any actual underdog vibes imo. Sniping doesn't feel desperate, even when it is; doing battle at a range where everything is a lot more loud and easily visible does. For the sort of story that the votes seem to be pushing towards at the moment, I think the Firestarter is a more interesting choice of robot; struggling to stay alive every minute, constantly swerving this way and that, and so on. If we take its already beefy guns and amp them up even further, we'll have something that has enough stopping power to punch through even an enemy that significantly outclasses us overall.

Looking Goliath in the eyes as you crack his head open with a stone is more satisfying than shooting him in the head before he even knows you're there.

sniper with all its perks and weaknesses. Pushes hard into our gunnery strength as it only can shoot and not much else. We are probably taking care of enemy commanders with this

Lets be honest, if we got isekai'd here, we would pick this for being the safest option, of super long range with good accuracy, and tanking enough to be a front line troops, too bad its going to be really hard to keep this equipped. Probably going to be used to soften up heavy unit and finish off anything that gets knocked out of position.

Basically the Tortoise with shorter range and dumb fire weapons, but probably better speed more useful. I think it can be the Dynasty warrior option, wipe out all the mooks but need help with Elites

What's better than a huge canon? Multiple fuck-off huge canons! Gimme all those guns, baby.

I honestly just like the idea of being a mobile artillery, plus it would work well with having a melee vanguard partner.

Edit: Since I didn't notice that someone has already made the same plan, imma switch to it.

We dont need to buy anymore Underdog vibes after the previous Chargen vote, my guy.

We took the single most disadvantaged combo of options possible.

1) Weakest starting planet
2) More disadvantaged gender
3) Mech type infamous for having the lower cap on effectiveness in its weight class

All three of those are massive underdog themes on each layer of narrative for the personal, social, and combat relevance spheres. And none of us plan on staying some kind of super stealthy sniper into the long term

For now, though, it's a way to get past our other disadvantages to punch up far harder than we would otherwise have a right to. Showing that grit and cleverness can overcome the disadvantages of your origin. Were gonna be outnumbered and outgunned from the start with each setback costing us more.

Even if we try and rig the game for ourselves, the stakes are always going to be set against us early on

Oh wow, Amerigo is fuckin Ameripoor, straight up just 12 mechs total, in a setting where every other polity has hundreds including mid-tiers Ameripoor apparently doesn't have.

A single mid-tier could wipe our entire army trivially

Way forwards is that if we don't have quantity, we need to up our quality.

Please ignore that all said higher powers probably have way better quality as well.

...Actually, one of the pluses we have? We're probably not going to be dealing with some messed up political intrigue mafia-family BS. Th Archeates do a lot of power plays between each other and the 2 Honorium here are at each others throats to get the sweet sweet taste of Boot. We just need to survive, which is a lot simpler.

You are very far away from powerful people though, and they're not likely to bother with you unless you annoy them! New Amerigo is the single most isolated independent world, just buying stuff is difficult and expensive. Plus, there's a price to be the world who believes in really weird stuff. Republicans are like people advocating for the divine right of kings or something in the modern day. You're not going to get beaten up for being a Louis XIV who believes we should abolish democracy and pick a new royal line, but people are going to look at you sideways.

It's ten per classification! That being said, Journeymen are pretty rare to begin with (and a higher-grade Journeyman can be expected to be shipped off to the war if they get above Grade 5 and volunteer in return for merits or advantages for their family) and Experts earn you an Archeate at the get-go in return for being forcibly conscripted.

There are only five known classifications of Spiritualist - Apprentice, Journeyman, and Expert Spiritualist, Demi-Transcendent and Transcendent. The latter number in the hundreds across an entire galaxy, and the Federation has no answer to them beyond not being where they are. They can survive a star going supernova and being caught in the event horizon of a black hole.

I wouldn't say there's no relevance, though this is really an offshoot of my 'how can I make mecha in space the only viable weapons platform without completely making my worldbuilding be incredibly stupid' question and the most viable answer ended up being 'give mecha pilots magic powers that only work with mecha'. This was actually originally the result of an argument between me and a buddy about mecha in space, well before I read (and enjoyed) Mech Touch.

I also wanted to play with the cultivation trope where for whatever reason cultivators are incredibly xenophobic despite being fairly similar to the aliens in their universe, sort of grafting on xianxia to something more akin to Mass Effect.

Honestly it opens up a lot of potential Wuxia Bullshit I hadn't even been considering.

Initially I was just going to have Feints and dodging and stuff, but now we might be able to go full Master Asia on this, afterimages with Mass and shit.

Honestly, I'm with the guy who said this plan's kinda boring, but I also find this to be so obviously the right strategic move that I can't not vote for it.
