Beverly seems good enough friends with Tay to not snitch but that cat is probably out of the bag by this point. We can always confess later as well.

[X][Interlude] Crownless
I have no opinions on the interlude but this seems interesting enough.

Breach was always my favourite character....

I'm getting around to her eventually, I'm still annoyed about my unused plans for her in a Dead Quest I used to help out with. I'm not sure how much any of that is applicable here, one of the things I wanted to do was write her as not actually sure of her own past- cause, ya know, she has dimensional powers and I thought it'd be interesting she accidentally drove herself mad from accessing the memories of her alternate selves.

Besides that, I'm kind of curious why the Mysterious Figures have gotten no traction. I'm guessing because they're likely to appear again? I was just curious about the exact reasoning. Man, I wished I had usable artwork…

[X] Confess. - Much as I wanted to avoid this, only a fellow EVO can be Beverly's friend now...
[X][Interlude] Crownless - Someone who hears some curious news.

[X] Ask What Now. - Beverly is an EVO, what does that actually mean for her future?

Voting 1.End
I had a dentist appointment earlier, that's why I didn't start sooner. Oh, right, vote doesn't seem likely to change so I figured there was no point in putting it off much longer. For today, I'll probably only do the Interlude and save 2.1 for tomorrow. Got some other things for me to do today.

Regarding the Figures Interlude, on one hand a little piece of me is kind of sad it got no interest, but overall it was probably for the best- the last time I tried writing about one of them, I had people writing essays about how "stupid" and "awful" I was. Most of the Worm Villains don't have very complex pages, I don't get why anyone thought I failed miserably at understanding the characters.

Hopefully Crownless is interesting for all of you, there was a reason I provided it as an option. No need for spoilers, you'll see soon enough.

Interlude.1
A/N: I wonder how many were waiting for something like this, can't have a Generator Rex story without him after all...

----
Thirty years ago, the world was forever changed and nobody knew why. Except, that's not really true, I was there when it happened. The 'Nanite Event', the intended goal was rather simple- creating World Peace by ending disease, hunger, and death.

It would have been the most revolutionary achievement in all of human history- who needed gods in such a world? It wouldn't have been some flawless utopia despite what some of the others thought, but we would have been the Six Most Important People to have ever existed.

Even with our combined genius, the Nanite Project was too complicated for any singular individual to understand. That and, urgh, financial issues- surely real inventible World Peace would have been enough of a selling point.

But the rich & powerful only have two desires- to become even more powerful, and to make sure nobody else achieved the same heights as them. 'Fortunately', several such 'distinguished' individuals took interest.

It was obvious to me what their real interest was, and I intended to take full advantage of them. Such witless fools had no place in the perfect world we would create, they would somehow find a way to ruin everything in the name of base greed!

I would be the savior of humanity in its entirety, no one would get in my way... Why the reminiscing of past events, imaginary-audience-I-created-for-entertainment? Ah, yes, what poor manners of me.

For you see, I heard some interesting news. It got me in a nostalgic mood, best to remember why something is important before acting. Being honest, this is probably one of my most exciting days in my entire life.

----
Being the emperor of an entire nation could be boring and tiring, but it benefited me for too many reasons to give up on the role. Providence were a nuisance to deal with, but they had to 'behave' like good little hounds. The fact they couldn't just launch invasions on 'problematic' countries was one of the many perks to being a ruler.

So long as I didn't do anything obvious, I could get away with just about anything. After all, what proof do they have that 'very dangerous EVOs' doing concerning things were actually servants of mine fulfilling missions I've given them? I am the real hero of this story, they're the delusional bit players oblivious to their insignificance.

Still, the structure of their organization had some merit, there was value in mimicking them to an extent. Their 'Watchdog' program had the most, in my opinion. Gathering information is extremely valuable, what was the phrase? Right- "Knowing is half the battle." My reach didn't extend past Abysus, it is the blow unseen that's most likely to land.

Within, I was too dangerous for anyone to stop- didn't mean I shouldn't pretend otherwise. When my palace was entered by an EVO that was essentially a giant eyeball covered in eyes & purple hair/fur covering her skin, Biowulf and Skalamander were on edge. Not out of fear, I had them serve as my bodyguards regularly because of their unquestioning devotion to me.

"M-my apologies, Lord Kleiss. I know we're not supposed to disturb you, but... we found something strange, in Brockton Bay's report regarding one of their latest EVO 'incidents'. It shouldn't make sense, but it is the only explanation I find truly believable." Biowulf growled menacingly, but I held up my hand to silently order him to still.

EVOlution Events have never particularly intrigued me, it was always about the same- more EVOs to serve me the better, but another story about some bullied girl turning into a 'maddened monster' & ripping apart her abusers got boring very quickly. Eyelytics was good at her job though, she knew better than to waste my time so I was willing to give her a chance.

"Do tell, I'm quite curious what is so fascinating." There were certainly variants of EVOlution that were attention-grabbing, I still wasn't sure if we did something wrong when it came to genetically identical individuals or if that was a result of the Project being distorted. Ooh, and there were the cases of individuals having fused during EVOlution...

"Going by the official report, the Hero Velocity arrived on site only a few minutes after the reported EVO Incident yet there was no Mad EVO present- given the school in question, there were multiple individuals on site who should have seen or interacted with said Mad EVO. The Wards were most likely 'getting into costume' to preserve their Human Identities, but even Glory Girl claimed there was no Mad EVO."

Hmm, that certainly is strange- the sudden physiological changes tended to overwhelm most individuals, while it wasn't unheard of for some EVOs to be capable of overcoming the sensory overload & mental trauma caused by Turning... the imperfect Nanites shouldn't be that easy to resist. It would make no sense for there to have been two EVOs given the obvious nature of such a report, so...

"This is something they didn't want to look important, which means they want it overlooked. What is it that you believe happened? I assumed they weren't interested in being secretive for no reason." Truly, what could be so special about this Event in particular? The only other unusual case I could recall is that boy capable of endless EVOlution.

I wasn't sure of Eyelytics' biology, so I couldn't determine why it took her several seconds to finally respond. "Besides the obvious there's something special about this Incident in question, the only real explanation is that somehow this EVO regained their sanity at an unnautrally quick rate. That alone shouldn't be worth trying to hide, the only thing that makes sense..."

Oh, oh, huh. After all this time, has it really been unleashed? If it was anyone else bringing this to me, I'd be much more doubtful. I shouldn't get too carried away, but... I could feel a smile spreading across my face, light chuckling eventually erupting into laughter. I didn't care what the others thought, I've been waiting so long for this day...

The Omega, the 'Final' Nanite, the Administrator. Creating Nanites is easy, Communications & AI were never my specialties. I always suspected it would exist, but I never had a lead on its location until now... Smoothing my expression into a calmer state, I needed to know for sure this was actually the work of the Omega.

"Continue investigation into the matter Eyelytics. Biowulf, begin preparations- that insufferable 'Anti-Providence' has its roots in that forsaken city, I've no interest in losing good soldiers because of some overblown racists with fancy guns." Eyelytics left with what I assume was a nod, while Biowulf kneels in fealty.

"I would go alone if needed, my Lord. I would let none underestimate your greatness." While I doubted even The Six could successfully eliminate Biowulf, the retrieval of the Omega was far too important to chance. With a simple glance, I didn't need to say anything to get a quick 'Apologies, my Lord.'

----
The mere notion of having located The Omega was enough to put me in a good mood. I would have to retrieve it personally, what would that do to its Host? It was designed specifically to facilitate administration of the entire Nanite Network, that was reason enough to believe things would going differently than normal.

Still, I've been trying that whole Feng Shui thing with my garden and I could really do with a nice centerpiece to grab everyone's attention. It'd be like a trophy, proof that I Van Kleiss finally became the undeniable savior of all Humanity forevermore.

----

A/N: Hey, I needed an explanation for why Van Kleiss was getting involved given Taylor isn't officially a part of Providence running around punching Villains & Mad EVOs in the face. I wouldn't say it was too 'spoilery', though I am kind of excited I can finally elaborate a bit on the Nanites.

Basically, since they were meant to be the Ultimate Healthcare solution, EVOs are the result of the Nanites attempting to fulfill their objective- but due to things having gone wrong, they try to figure out what they're supposed to do. Basically, say they find someone with a fear of fire; the obvious objective is to treat said phobia.

Instead of just, being fire-proof or whatever, they go to the opposite extreme- 'clearly', the solution is to make Host unafraid of fire. So long as Host's Healthcare Problem(s) are treated, that's good enough right? Also there's other wackiness that screws with things, like say the Nanites for one Host not getting the chance to help their Host but noticing another Host needing Healthcare assistance. Surely there's no way that could go, right?

Regarding Eyelytics, on one hand "Ew an OC?" but on the other it kind of makes sense for me to try fleshing things out some. Basically, she's a member of Van Kleiss' version of Watchdog, and well... she has Super-Analysis powers. Admittedly, I originally developed her during a dead Mega Crossover quest involving Generator Rex, so I didn't pull her out from nowhere.

I'll try to not get carried away, but I do got some ideas for canon Worm characters- I'm not entirely sold on it yet, but... Regina Machina, the Machine Army are a bunch of nanomachines anyways, pretty obvious I should do something with that in a Generator Rex fusion. Really, I've got a couple ideas regarding that...

If anything in particular stands out, please just ask- it is almost 5:00 PM for me, I don't feel like being clever enough to re-read this entire thing & figure out anything else I should comment on.

Shift 2.1
A/N: This Arc overall is supposed to be about Taylor's, well, shift from an 'Ordinary Girl with an Ordinary Life' to some kind of Heroine trying to figure out what she could do. @TheOmnimercurial I've never seen that before, I never got to explore the-girl-that-would-have-been-Eyelytics during her EVO phase. I would say she's more like a Biblically Accurate Ophanim than Humanoid in structure.

[] Ask What Now.
- Beverly is an EVO, what does that actually mean for her future?

----
It had been a very complicated & confusing day- there were so many things I could say or do. 'What has Beverly been saying about me', 'I'm actually an EVO too honest', but that would have been me ignoring the obvious question.

Looking at Beverly's curious & uncertain expression, Ms. Holiday's calm & patient demeanor, and the car guy silently watching I eventually let out a sigh. Being a Hero is a dangerous enough profession, and one that didn't really like 'no' for an answer- 'With Great Must Come Great Responsibility' after all.

"I probably don't know everything, but I know enough that Providence doesn't like letting EVOs run around answering to no one but themselves. I can get that, nobody wants some crazed psycho murdering people. But Beverly can't pretend she's wearing a costume, so... what now?"

Both Holidays' expressions sadden, with Ms. Holiday in particular letting out a sigh. "I really don't want my sister to be a Ward, the only reason most Villains don't try to... kill Heroes in general is because they know fully well Providence would fixate on their removal. Even so, there's other things they could do."

'Villains' were a complicated topic. Depending on who you ask, they'd either claim all Villains are inherently pure evil or that they're just 'problems' Providence wanted to deal with violently. Über and Leet are more careless pranksters than violent sociopaths, so clearly it isn't as simple as either opinion would claim...

"I certainly wouldn't want to be one here of all places, the Empire alone is offputting never mind the ABB- it really says something the least dangerous gang are the crazed drug dealers." That gets Car Guy to scoff for some reason, his expression not giving anything away before suddenly making a short comment.

"They don't understand what being dangerous really means." For some reason, I couldn't help but feel uneased by that statement. I've seen people brag and claim before about being total badasses, it had gotten easy to dismiss those kinds of people. Yet... there was something about Car Guy none of the braggarts I've met have.

Before my mind could spiral down that trail of thought, Ms. Holiday spoke again. "Exactly, Taylor, but Providence is an international organization- there's just so much to handle, it'll be a struggle to convince my Superiors of anything. I don't even want to imagine what might have happened if... Beverly wasn't already so calm."

That wasn't something I liked either, it was hard enough convincing myself someone might actually want to be my friend, I wasn't sure I would open up again a second time. Did I really cause Beverly to change into her new state? Before today I definitely would have doubted anyone who claimed I could, but well...

It was something I needed to test, I've been wanting to understand my power for months, why stop now? I wasn't ready to out myself to Providence, they're the Good Guys- so if they believed I could even partially cure EVOlution, that would instantly make me the most interesting person in the world to them.

There wasn't much 'Taylor Hebert' could do now for Beverly... letting out a sigh, I spoke again. "I don't know what I'm supposed to do, I'm nobody special. My dad works for the Dockworkers Association, but I doubt that's relevant in this situation." Oh right, Dad- I was going to need to reassure him everything is fine...

"You don't need to do anything complicated Taylor! So long as we're still friends, that's good enough for me." Locking eyes with Beverly, I didn't feel anything off about that statement. Part of me felt even worse, if I could really tell the Nanites what to do, maybe I could have become a Hero and fight side-by-side with her.

"I'll try my best to make sure everything is okay, so you don't need to worry Taylor. I'm sure your father is worried enough about you." If I didn't know better, it wouldn't have been hard to believe Ms. Holiday was Beverly's mom and not her older sister. So... how was I going to explain things to Dad? He was the only person I could actually do anything about...

Smiling slightly and waving lightly, despite my best efforts I couldn't muster up more than that. "I should go now, talk soon right?" That gets a determined smile and nod from Beverly, it lightened my mood a little but... not enough. Dad had just arrived, and made a beeline for me- clasping his hands on my shoulders & looking worried.

"What happened Taylor? I-I got called at work, I knew they said everything was fine but I had to see you to believe it." I was mostly focused on Beverly at the time, but in hindsight I should have realized Dad was going to be stressed out finding me at the local Providence branch. Sure, he would have stressed out if I stayed at school or went home so...

-- (What to do?)

[] Try To Explain.
- I really should eventually...

[] Mention 'The Secret'.
- Was there a point trying to hide it anymore?

[] Just Go Home.
- I'm really not in the mood for any of this.

----

A/N: I originally meant for this to have ended with Taylor already at home, speculating on what to actually do with her power, but the stuff with Beverly went on longer than I planned & I felt like this was a natural stopping point. I generally don't tend to write more than 1-2k at once, mainly because I'm rarely in the 'mood(?)' to do more than that.

As for the Vote Options this turn, I just did what came naturally. I genuinely am not trying to push for Taylor outting herself, just felt right that in this kind of depressed state where she's going "I could have done more" she would give some consideration to actually telling her father- maybe he could help somehow, would be her reasoning.

Granted, "Delay and Go Home" is probably the most 'Taylor' Option, though regardless of what wins I like to clarify this really only affects Danny and nothing beyond him. He's not gonna stupidly walk her right back to sigh up for the Wards, why would a union man whose wife had a dubious legal past do such a thing?

[X] Mention 'The Secret'.

With Van Kleiss out there.... Taytay needs back up.

Normally I favour non Wards routes, but not this time.

Normally I favour non Wards routes, but not this time.

It isn't explicitly the Wards route, that isn't really something Taylor would want anyways cause "the notion of escaping the stresses of high school by flinging myself into a mess of teenage drama, adult oversight and schedules seemed self-defeating."

The main reason she even considered outting herself to Doc Holiday was purely because she's kind of afraid to lose the first real non-familial bond she has formed after everything with Emma & Winslow.

The most that would happen is that Danny knows his daughter has powers of some kind, something he wouldn't carelessly share with others. Taylor is right, even being a 'Mine Sweeper' capable of detecting impending EVOlution is a huge deal.

Perhaps it would make that route more likely, but in the same way you need to complete 5th Grade before you can graduate to 6th Grade aka it'd check off a prerequisite that needed to get solved somehow eventually to make it a viable option.

Now, this is definitely not a crossover that I see often - not sure if I've ever seen one at all.

Although I can't help but notice that given the importance of Providence in this world, Taylor's distrust of them seemed a little unnatural to me - it's still not the PRT from the original story.

But to vote:

[] Try To Explain.
- I really should eventually...

[] Mention 'The Secret'.
- Was there a point trying to hide it anymore?

What exactly is the difference between these options?

That's one part, well, me trying to write Taylor as Taylor and not just me going full OC. Overall, her main concern isn't about being a Hero- it is specifically getting the Panacea Treatment, being expected to use her miraculous powers to detect & cure EVOs 24/7. That kind of pressure has a habit of causing people to 'break'.

Of course, her concern isn't entirely about Providence and more how The World in general would react. An organization like the E88 aka the Anti-Providence would be extremely cruel & remorseless if they realized what she could actually do. And that's just the two main organizations associated with handling EVOs.

There's all kinds of crazies out there, the thought of a Vaccine/Cure for EVOlution and/or Control of The Nanites is the kind of thing that would interest many. Honestly, Van Kleiss is probably one of the least bad options, given he just wants to get his hands on the Omega-1 to fulfill his fantasy of being Humanity's True Savior.

What exactly is the difference between these options?

The first is, well, Taylor trying to explain what exactly happened at school- probably something that'd stress Danny out, knowing his daughter actually tried to convince her friend to not be a Violently Insane Monster and the general weirdness of that day. While Danny might be somewhat suspicious Taylor has powers, the only thing that doesn't sound insane is a Barrier of Nanites forming to protect her.

Actually mentioning The Secret would involve Taylor elaborating upon everything she knows about her power- so she'd probably mention her Curing(?) Beverly and creating a Nanite Barrier, but without going into much detail about what actually happened.

Tay getting the Panacea treatment and snapping somewhere down the line could be interesting.
Danny doesn't strike me as someone that cannot keep secrets secure so revealing it to him now instead of someone else informing him about it is beneficial to developing 'trust' between him and Tay.
