I cannot express how much I need a crying and angry anime girl reaction image right now. Try checking out Heaven thy Home, that's the quest where the playerbase systematically bully the QM until she surrenders.

So help me, I'd love to vote and I swear I wouldn't ever vote just to create a tie, but I can't make up my mind.

[feels embarrassed]

[X] A Fated Tragedy: Like Nine Saffron Impassioned Exhortation, the Shogun who had presided over the City's sacking, Holiest Gift has found herself a victim of fate. Destiny's hand has arrayed her against him and only one victor can emerge. The Shogun-Mirza will gain a Major Tie of Sympathy to Holiest Gift.

This one's perfect. Dude doesn't realize that "fate" here is all his fault.
I do not know what to feel about the fact that my players have organized solely to torment me.
wait wait wait, i've got it:

[JK] A Caged Bird's Fated Adversary :V

Take solace in knowing that someday soon, once the entirety of SV weighs in on this vote, we may finally reach absolution.

Unless the populace of SV is a number divisible by three. In which case we're fucked.

Adhoc vote count started by Randino Treviani on Jan 1, 2023 at 8:19 PM, finished with 61 posts and 33 votes.

Coming up from behind, Fated Tragedy with 10 votes!

Preceded by Caged Bird with 11 votes!

Leading by a single Vote, our Champion of Champions, A worthy Adversary!

As of this writing, I count 9+1 on Fated Tragedy, 8+3 on Caged Bird, and 6+6 on Worthy Adversary.

That's not a tie. I think I'll lean into that not-a-tie.

[X] A Worthy Adversary: Like Eight Vermilion Grasping Creation, the Shogun who conquered all her enemies, Holiest Gift's reach is infinite but her grasp is not. A fearsome and clever rival who will fight to the last, her ambition is nonetheless her undoing. The Shogun-Mirza will gain a Major Tie of Rivalry to Holiest Gift.

Is voting just to un-break a tie any better than voting just to force a tie? Because where before I was content to vote for my chosen option even if it ended up in third place, now I'm tempted to anti-vote your attempt at tie-breaking.

I think when the nice QM who devotes their time and energy to writing has been waiting hours, and a vote already has a lead, strengthening that lead to prevent a single switch vote from throwing it back into limbo is slightly better than voting just keep a tie going.

Honestly, the more I think about the option I voted for, the more it grows on me. I felt indecisive earlier but my mind started changing.

Basically, what bugs me about it is that it's choosing a vote entirely for meta, non-story reasons. Instead of actually choosing even somewhat based off what the QM wrote. (That, and these artificial ties rarely last long on their own anyways.)

Yes, and most of the time, people just abstain from voting in those situations. Doing this right now in an ongoing vote where I'm not particularly picky about how it is approached. The difference is, that if their is a tie, and the quest is delayed for all of the people who have voted and are anticipating an update, as well as the QM who is eager to continue with their passion project, the polite thing to do is simply flip a coin, and let the story go on. Had I no stake in this, this is precisely what I would do, and have done previously. Sorry if that bothers your narrative sensibilities, but as someone who has spent more than half their life watching great stories stutter too a stop, the idea of someone deliberately delaying a story because a person is breaking a tie on the QMs request, seriously triggers my own.

This one has dragged out an additional 27 hours. Deliberate intervention feels justified.

[X] A Caged Bird: Unlike Six Gold Surrounding Glory, the Shogun who moved the capital west, Holiest Gift does not live in an age of glories. She could accomplish great things but, constrained by her circumstances, is chained to the survival of a state that only holds her back. The Shogun-Mirza will gain a Major Tie of Despondency to Holiest Gift.

Ah, don't worry about it at all, I was only planning on ending the vote like ten hours from now or something like that. I think the tie is funny, mostly.
