You are an ever evolving hive mind in the world of the system. You will be invading a newly integrated world to eat and evolve.

Their tyranids, but litrpg!

First the main body, the one you will have till you die.

Your main body, choose 1:

[]King:
A giant physical fighter, at the start a mere 8 feet tall, but can become dozens of times larger as time and feeding goes on. Note: A great powerhouse given enough time.

[]Queen:
A giant controller, specializing in boosting and coordinating tyranids. At the start 6 feet tall can grow dozens of times more, boosting and coordination prowess increasing as time and feeding goes on. Note: A great behind the scenes manipulator given enough time.

[]The one:
An experimental mix of king and queen, it is unknown what they can grow into. ???

You will be given 100 biomass to make your first tyranid.
Target areas can include but are not limited to attack, defense, swarm, big creature, etc. or you can get really specific in what you want. Describing specific things you want to accomplish, like guarding, stealth, digging underground, recycling biomass.

Choose 3 target areas for your first Tyranid:

[]My recommendation:
Attack, swarm, recycle biomass.

[]Paranoid option: Defensive, poisonous, Medium(Specifically around 6 feet in height)

[]Write in?

So! How this quest will work is that after you pick your main body and your first tyranid, I spin a wheel to see what kind of environment you go into.

After that you start building a hive to make more tyranids from and will make a certain number of choices per turn. You gain more actions a turn as your main body grows. You have the option to use biomass and make more tyranids with it or research new tyranids with the above system.

Finally you will gain genes as you kill things, which you can use to improve your tyranids. Careful as that does, have a small chance for side effects depending on what environment your in.

If your wondering, this will not have too many levels. Instead it will mostly be stats. Humans and others might have levels, but us? Just stats.

Have fun and use plans!

Seems interesting. I think if it's an unknown environment then it's best to not be known until we know what we're dealing with, yes?
[X] Plan: Boogeyman
-[X]Queen: A giant controller, specializing in boosting and coordinating tyranids. At the start 6 feet tall can grow dozens of times more, boosting and coordination prowess increasing as time and feeding goes on. Note: A great behind the scenes manipulator given enough time.

A solid start!
Well than! I'm gonna go ahead and spin the wheel for location!

Spin… Frosted hill range! Basically a mountain but not as tall and more of them. Also cold!

Turn 1: The start
Hello hive queen ?!.$# you have been selected to invade this world by your [Redacted] you will have your memories wiped with no knowledge on anything besides a few subjects.

A moment of processing… I was unable to move, interesting, very interesting.

Your goal is to simply survive, as was the directive given. You will now be allowed to make a creature or creatures with limited biomass. You have approximately 1 hour until you are transported.

Beginning 3, 2, 1, 0, Start.

I was suddenly able to move, I started by making a spawning pool, it would be necessary no matter what and gave me time to think of what I would need.

If I was given a certain amount of biomass, then I'd need more, and if this was all the biomass I was given then I should start out with something cheap, something that could recycle itself and attack threats.

A swarm creature would be most logical, I can't remember what type of swarms were made before, but it is the most effective from what I can tell. It seems not all has been lost on my memory.

59 minutes later…

Tyranid roll: 68! Gains 1 bonus effect!

Attack, swarm, recycle biomass:
Trina:
A small 1 foot tall tyranid. It has 4 legs, sharp teeth, and claws. Its main weakness is its carapace, which is quite weak compared to other Tyranids. Its job is to recycle itself after bringing biomass to the spawner.
Stats:
Attack:
5
Defense: 2
Speed: 3
Effects:
Swarm(Lvl 1):
Trina travel and fight in swarms. +5 to combat rolls for every swarm in an area(About 30-100)
Recycle(Lvl 1):
When it's full from eating, it will return to a spawner and drop itself into said spawner. The spawner will gain back Trina's cost plus the biomass brought. Max amount of biomass that can be brought from a Trina is 5.
Climber(Lvl 1): Can climb walls and the like without malus.
Cost: 3 biomass to spawn 1 Trina.

Gain 33 Trina!

I made a 'Trina' my first Tyranid creation. How fascinating.

Transporting will now commence…

I noticed how it wasn't a transition, it was just one second in the void with some ground, than the next I'm in a cave. I tell the Trina to go look outside the cave.

I could somehow see through their eyes.

Coordination(Lvl 1): Can coordinate tyranid forces and can see through the eyes of tyranids. Currently no bonus but also no malus to any coordination between forces.

I was on a mountain with a lot of ice and snow. It was clear out currently but that can change quickly.

You have 50 biomass at the start. You can order your spawns to do things for you, you can spawn more, or you can research how to make more spawn. You have a number of actions related to your growth.

You have 3 actions at the start:

[]Trina, Eat!:
I need biomass and knowledge on my surroundings. Sending out the Trina to start eating will do both, as I can see through their eyes. Note: They will continue doing this from here on.
-[]Send in groups of?(33, 11, etc.)

[]I need to eat!:
I need to grow stronger, so I'll eat biomass and evolve myself.
-[]How much?(Currently 0/100 biomass is needed for the next stage. Small bonus for reaching half required biomass.)

[]Spawn more?:
I need more tyranids!
-[]How many and which?

[]Research a Tyranid?:
I need something other than the Trina. I have a chance of failing however. Note: Tyranids currently have 2 tiers to choose from. Tier 0 and Tier 1. Tier 0 can be passed with no Dc, but will result in a below average genetic pattern. Tier 1 has 0/100 to develop a genetic pattern. This can be taken over multiple turns.
-[]Name 3 target areas.
-[]Tier 0 or Tier 1?

[]The hive:
I need to build this cave into a respectable hive. All below is tier 0 costs.
-[]The door!:
Keeps things from wandering into the hive! Costs 25 biomass.
-[]Expand the cave!:
Make a bigger cave! I need more space to build things. Costs 100 biomass.
-[]Chambers:
I need a chamber to hopefully train my talents(Skills). Costs 100 biomass.

[]Focus:
I'll focus on an action. Adds a die to an action every time this is taken.
-[]Which project?

Well there we go!

Have fun! Got questions? Ask! Use plans!

[X]Plan starting a swarm
-[X]Trina, Eat!
--[X]Send in groups of 30

-[X]Research a Tyranid?:
--[X]Stealth, Flying, Perception
--[X] Tier 1
-[X]The hive
--[X]The door!

So we have 0 biomass to start with? Oh I see it now.

[X]Plan Spawn Creep
-[X]Trina, Eat!
--[X]Send in groups of 30
-[X]Research a Tyranid?:
--[X]Growth, Biomass, Food
--[X] Tier 1
-[X]The hive
--[X]The door!

I don't have any issue with a stealth scout, but I'd like to make some creep to slap down and start passively generating biomass.

So, the only way to generate biomass is to go kill something. If you could be a bit more specific with your intent of biomass, that'd be great.

This quest looks interesting I'll look forwards to seeing where you take it

Honestly the best I can do with those target areas is have a tyranid that grows as it eats(Up to a cap of course, like 14 feet tall). It can recycle itself if it gets too damaged and is just generally big.

If your ok with a thicc boy like that, than go ahead.

The Tyranids have plants and sessile organisms. It's how they harvest every scrap of material from the soil and atmosphere. I am not quite grasping how your evolution mechanics works that this isn't possible.

The alternative would be some kind of grazer that goes out and just harvest all the existing plant matter, but I don't think we want to make our location that obvious.

I was assuming the tyranids used the spawners and other smaller tyranids that act like gut bacteria. I've looked up really quickly anything having to do with plants… they have no plants. None.

What I'm assuming your talking about is how they translate materials into pure, useable biomass. Which already exists. There's no need to make a tyranid for that. Also if your talking about free biomass from just sitting there? I refuse.

But okay you're the QM. I think limiting what can be evolved takes a lot of the fun out of it though.

I stand corrected on the plants. Ok describe exactly what you want and the effect, otherwise I won't know what you want.

I'm only limiting it to tyranids, I'll make an option for plant research I guess. I have no idea how that works, as I just made translation of biomass 1 to 1.

Well if you don't want just free biomass something like this.

Stats:
Attack: 0
Defense: 4
Speed: 0
Effects:
Nutritional (Lvl 1): Grows at a rate of 1 biomass per turn. Once it reaches X biomass it dies and converts itself/can be shoved into a spawning pool to give back biomass.
Siphon (Lvl 1): Cannot be replanted in a given area.
Cost: 1 biomass to spawn.

What exactly do you mean by limiting it to just Tyranids? Because Tyranids steal genetic information from everything they devour. Adapting is their whole thing.

Edit: Forgot to include that it can't be replanted since it already sucked up everything. Technically nothing should grow there anymore.

Hm, that sounds like it would do permanently visible damage.
Very good Biomass value, usefull to make areas uninhabitable but unsuitable for a 'delay enemies gathering to fight back by ambushing little groups of biomass without leaving survivors' phase.

Would you consider delaying it?

@Blackangel
Would something like 'spore, spawner, support' work?
Idea is "it grows spores (spore) that can be used as a poison by up to X tyranids hunting together with it (support). If a bundle of biomass gets poisoned with the spores but survives, the spores grow like cancer and consumed the biomass to spawn tyranids (spawner)'

Replace spawner with poison and that's good. Probably ending in a bit however.
