[x] Chaos Coaxing Trick

It might be fighting the last battle, but I'd like to do better next time we run into fae like we just did.

It's on brand. It's a mark of being a lifelong wyldworker. More importantly in my opinion is a serviceable skill that won't get knickers in a twist for being monstrous (directly anyway)

The wyld can be lulled and bargained with, as one might sedate a hive of bees with a puff of smoke. With the proper ritual actions or negotiations with creatures of chaos, Rena can influence the Wyld and wyld-polluted land. She can reshape it as a minor wyld creature can or influence how it manifests. With greater difficulty and strenuous effort, she can cleanse one area by moving the pollution elsewhere, or shield small areas from a wyldstorm.

Soon. Soon the pulp sorceress Ars Magica will begin. I hope.

Also I really like how these styles play with Dragon-Blooded thematics. They feel fresh and new, and they're not coming from things like evocations or mutations or whatever - just our own, incredibly specific set of skills.

As much as I like Rena convincing people that she's harmless then absolutely wrecking them, combined with the capstone charm this choice makes her extremely Fae.

I see a lot of value in Rena having a trick that makes her overlooked as a threat, notably when we have a certain brand on us of "oh, no, Rena is a betrayer".

I like the idea of Rena becoming a bit overt in sorcerous ways, now that she had prolonged contact with some fae again.

But, ah, I smell something rotten in here." Her pale eyes close, and she sniffs the air. "You. You are thick with rot. Laden with it. Filthy. Unclean." She relishes the words. "Oathbreaker. Traitor. You swore to love him and ally with him, and murdered him before the echoes of your voice had faded."

This sounds like the existence and nature of the brand is obvious to at least some type of beings (fae? people with high enough awareness and/or occult?). Rena might have problems making contracts going forward. This could even affect her relationship with Blue if he notices it.

Rena could claim it's a wound she got from fighting a particular powerful Wyldborn, and it wouldn't even be a lie figuratively speaking. But on the other hand, anyone who recognize it specifically as the mark of an oathbreaker would still know not to trust her vows.

Ground Fire Obfuscation sounds like an amazingly powerful Somebody Else's Problem field and I want it, but Chaos Coaxing and Dream Apiculture both make bee references. That is irresistible, no matter how powerful the alternatives.

Imagine some hypothetical sorcerer trying to engage Rena in a serious conversation about the Fae, but they keep getting lost because Rena always circles back around to talking about bees and wax and smoke and honey. That is my dumb brain right now.

Rena: Let me in! I'm a fairy!

But seriously, it would be super useful to be capable of freely wandering around in the middle of a wyld storm.

Aaaargh this is a really hard choice, but... yeah, you know what? I'm actually going to vote for...

It's not that I don't love the others. I really, really love the others. But this is kind of the most interesting in a narrative sense. I could give arguments like how this is the more infrastructural of the choices, how it jives best with setting ourselves up with a little slice of Cahzor as a landowner, how it could be really useful for more exploration... but mostly it's just that this is the biggest in scale. It encourages us to not just be a sorcerer-for-hire and scavenger lord, but to actually put down roots and start cultivating land and moving chaos around with an eye to the long term of years and decades, synergising with how she can make little Wood places if she sticks around long enough to transform a small chunk of the landscape and Rena-ify it. And that really interests me. I wanna dig into this. We chose to stay in Cahzor - let's commit.
