Re:Birth, A MMO Story

I guess we just have different expectations of MMO power levels. In my experience you need a giant advantage in power to make up for the numbers advantage.

Difference here is, chaff will be massively under-leveled and strongly opposed to swarm tactics. We probably want them in industry rather than battle wherever possible.

In Albion I regularly go out with a group of people that know what they are doing, using meta item sets and with voicechats and we would still struggle figthing 4 times our numbers in random gear without coordination because it's difficult to make up for the fact that you can kill 3 times your numbers and they will still have enough damage to kill you
True enough in that case, but ya gotta realize that you are above the average player in that case, fighting above average players. The average player has no clue what meta items are in mmos. The average player plays mmos to enjoy the story and maybe do some roleplaying before they've quit the game they do the raids on normal difficulty because they dont want to put the time into learning the harder stuff.

If youve ever watched a video about meta items or completed any, to put it in ff14 terms, extreme trials, then you are already in at least the top 30% of players.

A more obvious example. You know steam and psn trophies? You know how trophies for even just beating most games on the easiest difficulty are not even at like 70% completion? Thats the average gamer.

Now this is a quest, not irl and the facts are whatever op wants them to be, but the actual statistically average player for a LOT of games is... astoundingly bad.

You could probably easily kill the average player, even in an mmo. And in an mmo like this, that likely has tons of skill expression? Totally doable.

Also dont forget that if we keep getting stat ups for these ten days then our physical stats are actually going to quickly become at least almost double the stats of other lvl 1's. We are already almost halfway to doubling our starting dexterity.

EDIT: also good point by the dudw above. Swarm tactics involve dying in droves and winning by drowning people in numbers.... those players are sitting in the plaza because they dont want to experience dying ovwr and over.

[X] D. Spend time getting to know your group better, try to build group cohesion.

I'm voting for this because Hime doesnt seem like the best person to solo play, she needs a good core party around to maximize ability.

Also because this isn't a standard mmo but one that's done in the first person so most people can't just coast off auto scripted movements and actually have to rely on their own experiences means that the people who are receiving systematic training to not fall over their own feet are already in the top ten percent of all the players being headless chickens right now.

There are already people who are trying to steal and PK so the faster the group learns the basics the better off it'll be for them. Also they're essentially receiving free stats unrelated to level ups or gear so that'll stack along with actual party play.

I agree, which is why I want them organised and productive as soon as possible. They will start being productive by themselves sooner or later, but if we support them we can get guild fees or whatever you want to call the taxes.

And if we ever find a drug that numbs pain we will have a loyal base that gives us fighting power.

Above average player

Absolutely not. Some of these people don't have weapons equipped. I'm sure there are some good people but the majority are just there for the excitement of the big battle that swept them up.

Yes, but this isn't a game that you can stop playing. Once we got trapped the game turned into real life for all intents and purposes and in real life humans can't just quit when they are bored

You should probably put an X between the brackets then, or else the tally won't count your vote.

Because dammit not every decision is a tactical one! Hita just wants to hang out, is that so much to ask after a Big Exhausting Day?

[X] E. Learn more about the troubles plaguing the town, and local monsters.

Maybe there's troubles in town that doesn't involve going out and adventuring that the people afraid of combat can do?

seems like we are most likely either tightening our bonds or gathering information of some kind. not sure which one i'd prefer between recruiting plaza folk or sparring. Prob sparring cus at least we are spending time with our allies.
